I feel a bit misled...
The monitor has a great picture and a great price but I feel misled by the fact that it does not have a way to mount the monitor on a bracket/monitor arm. It would be good to mention this in the specs since it used to be standard for monitors to be mountable...

All good but 1
First of all, this is an excellent monitor, i am extremely glad i got it and i can see myself as having it for a very long time. They did a great job on this product and for $200, its very competitively priced. The colors looks amazing, there is no noticeable lag whatsoever, its a great sized monitor, yet small enough to fit on almost any desk. It has a very good look to it, from the side its super thin, its a glossy piano black, yet the screen is matte so no glare or unnecessary reflections get it the way. The one problem i have is the way the screen is tilted back, i have a higher sitting desk so as the screen tilts up, it dims slightly from my angle. I recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a great, well priced monitor. But, i really recommend it to anyone who has lower rising desk because the way the screen leans back would be perfect for that person. Though, it still looks great from any desk.

Nice product, awful instructions
Pro: Good price, nice appearance, no dead or stuck pixels, good display

Con: The instruction sheet is printed in 30 languages, with nothing useful in any of them. For instance, if both VGA and HDMI inputs are connected, only VGA works no matter what choice you make. No mention in the instructions. If you turn off the monitor and leave the computer running, on monitor power on a message 'No HDMI signal' shows up. But it really means move the mouse. No mention. In power saving mode the pilot light flashes (not mentioned). Why not that instead of No Signal? An e-mail to ASUS tech support took nearly 2 weeks to get a response. To cover all bases, I also e-mailed eVGA, my card supplier. They made 3 suggestions before ASUS got back to me, and it wasn't their problem. The on-screen-display offers 4 modes but (surprise!) the instructions say nothing about them.

Good LED
This monitor is very bright and sharp. I have used Dell, Samsung, and this Asus LED 23" is very good compared to others.

Excellent monitor, strange stand
The quality of this monitor is outstanding--images are clear and sharp. However, the monitor's "stand" is just a couple of rubber bumpers on the bottom of the front bezel, and a leg on the back. The monitor sits on the bumpers and leans back on the leg. This isn't really bad--it works OK for me--but it could easily be a deal-breaker for you.

Good Looking Monitor
I'll be concise:

This is a beautiful monitor (frame/finish/buttons/lighting). The images on the screen itself are crisp, and I didn't really have to make any adjustments (though I played with the settings anyway).

The speakers are even sufficient for what they are (meaning an integrated speaker in a monitor. The speakers are secondary to the monitor's main function of, well...being a monitor).

The only reason I held back one star from my rating to the location of the speakers. Because they are set behind the monitor, they are louder behind the screen than in front. If they were forward-facing, the volume would be sufficient for most mid-level computer functions (internet video, skype, etc.). But because the direction of the sound is away from you, you have to have maximum volume to hear what you normally would only have at half volume.

Besides that...great monitor!

Wish it had USB ports
Could have sworn this item said it had HDMI and USB ports, it doesn't. Other than that I'm very satisfied.... Such fast shipping, beautiful LCD screen!

Great, affordable LED
I love this monitor. it's a very good and affordable option for a low-medium budget consumer. My only complaint is that there's no HDMI plug behind the monitor, though to its credit, it's not advertised as having one. Still, the picture is crisp and clear and coming in at 21.5", you'll be hard-pressed to find a better screen anywhere.

Viewsonic is alright with me!
I have always liked Viewsonic products. They are solid to its name. The only drawback is the sound, you will need to purchase some additional speakers for a better viewing experience.

Inherent defect in the display panel technology
If you look at the display with a downward angle, the display will tint red. If you look at an upward angle, it will tint green. This tinting is very apparent when viewed from a distance of 1.5 feet or less. From a distance of 2 feet, it is there, but more subtle (perhaps not noticeable to some people). THIS is the kind of information that ASUS/Amazon should willingly cede to the consumer. Because they don't, I give it a 1-star rating - some people will be very unhappy with it, and will feel duped. Other than that, the monitor is fine, and worth the money as long as you don't sit too close.

Great for the price
I have no complaints for this monitor. The price for a 26" 1920x1200 monitor is great - I paid almost $2000 several years ago for a Samsung monitor with the same resolution: this monitor is it's technological superior. Image is sharp and colours are bright.

Good bang for the buck, Color calibration is a pain
1st one had 8 stuck pixels along the bottom of the screen, 6 were massaged away easily, 2 turned out to be
completely dead no matter what software or massage method I used. So I returned it same day, thanks to
Amazon's great exchange policy, got my replacement in 1 day. The 2nd unit is flawless after careful examination.

The monitor's great for gamers, no question about it, enjoyed every minute of metro2033, COD MW2, BF:BC2 and SC2.
I like everything about this monitor except for the Blue tint coming out of the box. It is not easy to calibrate
color properly by hand. Here is where I left off.

Red : 86, Green: 80, Blue: 65. This gave me decent color accuracy, could be a tad warm for some people.

As for the contrast/Brightness: I found that using Gaming mode at night is optimal and reduces eye strain,
during the day, I'm using normal mode: 70 brightness, 80 contrast.

The fonts are a bit skinny with the resolution of 1920x1200, gave me issues when viewing docs and web-pages,
had to zoom in 115% to not strain my eyes.

This is a great monitor, at an amazing price. It arrived in three days and was well packaged. I like that it adjusts automatically and has a vivid display with no glare as I used to have on my previous monitor. It's designed so that you can push your keyboard under it onto its base when not in use. The built-in speakers give good sound. I'm very satisfied.

Excellent monitor
Originally bought this for my wife, to replace her 5 yr old 15" that was starting to fail. As I hoped, she didn't like it--too wide, too much mouse movement required. So, I gave her my 17" and we are both very happy.

Excellent image, menu easy to use to make adjustments.

Great Monitor Ruined by Glue Residue!!!
This monitor is a great value. The matte finish is attractive and the screen colors really stand out. I do have to mention that my new monitor is ruined after I removed the identifying sticker at the top of the monitor. I have to agree with S. Francis' comment on this issue and I quote him here, "The glue HP used is so strong that it's left behind when you peel the sticker off. So far I have tried duct tape, WD-40 and Goo Gone and the glue is still there". I particularly liked that he mentioned the quality of the glue was used to build roads. Anyway, if you don't mind a messy finish after removing the sticker then you will be okay. The monitor is highly recommended.

Excellent monitor
So far, this monitor has lived up to its hype. The color and picture quality are excellent. I'm glad I bought it.

Great monitor

decent for the money
I agree with the previous poster who took exception to the "knob" used to lock the tilt of the monitor in place. It will hold the position when the arms are stationary, but if you start to move the arms the monitor will "flop" down because the mechanism isn't strong enough to keep the monitor in place. I wouldn't recommend this product if you want an arm for frequent maneuvering of the monitor, but it's good if you're going to keep it stationary.

Excellent, low cost, good positioning
This was a great deal on a wall mount compared to other units available. It secures solidly to the wall. The double articulated arm allows optimal positioning. The only gripe I had was with the screw knob that mounts the monitor bracket to the arm. I had a hard time tightening the knob for fear of stripping the threads. It took some trial and error to get the vertical tilt right.

This is holding a 22" widescreen monitor without any trouble.

Item received within two days outstanding shipping service, the monitor was packaged very well and was in perfect operating condition. I have since hooked the monitor to my cpu and it works perfectly. a very good buy price was exceptional and I would use the company again.

Excellent monitor
This is an excellent monitor at an affordable price by a top manufacturer, Asus. I paid $125.for mine. It has an LED backlight, rather than the usual fluorescent. This feature is usually found only on top end monitors, and means extea brightness and reliability.

I was disappointed that the instruction sheet was tiny and in about 50 languages, but I figured it out. Just a minor item, and does not detract from the quality and performance.

I'd recommend this monitor to a friend, or anyone else.

More a small TV screen than a monitor
It's advertised as a monitor and will also work as one but you will not find USB ports and the screen hurts my eyes a bit more than other computer monitors I use (I tend to sit pretty close to computer monitors). Very good price, though, hence the 3 stars.

Nice Monitor but.....
We have had this monitor a little over two weeks. The first couple of days were very frustrating. We are not extremely knowledgeable about computers, but from the previous reviews we had read, assumed it would be just a matter of hooking the new monitor up to our computer and we'd be ready to go. Not so in our case. We have a Compaq computer that is about 5 years old. When we hooked up the Asus monitor, everything on the screen was distorted and hard to look at, almost like when you're in safe mode, but not quite that bad. We weren't sure how to proceed, so tried to call Asus for assistance. Our first attempt at contacting them, we were put on hold for a long period of time, then finally got a recorded message that all agents were busy and someone would call us back. No one ever did. The next day we tried calling Asus again. This time a pleasant female answered the phone, but was not knowledgeable and could not help, so attempted to transfer us to someone who could. Again, a recorded message. The third time we called back and got the same pleasant female who this time transferred us to a male agent. The only help he offered was: "The problem is not with your monitor, it's with your computer and you'll have to call them." I asked this man if it might have anything to do with changing the screen resolution and again, he replied in a condescending tone, "Maybe, but you'll have to contact Compaq, I can't help you." After all this, we realized that Asus doesn't even have an 800 number and all this was on our dime! I didn't know how to change the resolution, but after the frustration with Asus decided to try to figure it out by myself, which after a little research, I did. After several attempts at changing the resolution, we finally got the screen to look normal. Is this a nice monitor? Now that we have it figured out, I would say yes, it is a very nice monitor for the price. Would I recommend it to others? If you are computer savvy, yes. If you need to rely on a good customer service for help, I would have to say no.

Caution: Do you really want a widescreen monitor?
Purchased this as an upgrade with a new computer. The LED feature is really great; crisp, clear, with good brightness. However, the aspect ratio of the widescreen just renders this monitor unusable for me. I obviously ordered the wrong monitor. This is a very good screen, but be aware that the widescreen aspect ratio may not be what you want for your system. Hooked up my old LCD 17" and all is right with the world! :-)

No longer a pain in the neck
Working on my Google AdWords campaigns became a literal pain in the neck. While viewing my monitor the additional hours each day, I developed pain in my neck and shoulders, It was suggested that I raise my monitor and by doing so change the positioning of my head while viewing. It sounded simple enough so I purchased the monitor stand. The pain went away and I increased space on my desk. Killed two birds with one stone.

Very Acceptable
I wanted A monitor stand so I could set my center speaker of my 5.1 computer sound system under it. Monitor stand stats will tell you how high it raises the moniter but not the clearence under the stand top. I needed about 4.25 inches. This stand gives me 5 inches of under the lower edge of the stand top...this is excellent. I even have a little room to tilt the speaker up if I choose. Six inches is the total height it raises the monitor. Its a 21.5 inch Dell wide screen monitor. I do not know what it weighs but the stand top does not sag. I give it a thumbs up. Not wide enough to slide your keyboard under but that is not what I bought it for.

IT SAGS!
Update: Watch out for this one....... I have my 27" iMac on it. A full 8lbs under the maximum. It is now sagging. I could probably cut a piece of wood and make a pier to place in the middle.... but I plan on replacing this and using it with my printer......... avoid getting this if your computer is (my best guess) more than 15lbs.

I purchased this to use with my 27inch iMac. The iMac weights in at 30lbs so it is 10 under the max for this stand. I looked at many stands at local stores. Had trouble finding one that would give the height I needed and still be able to handle the iMac. I am 6'6" tall so I needed something with height. The stand appears to be well made. It blends in well with my glass/metal computer unit. If you are needing something for height this is it. The keyboard easily fits beneath it if you want.
UPDATE: Someone had mentioned it sagged..... made me hesitate on buying it..... glad I took a chance. I placed a few books so that they just barely touched the middle of the underside of the stand. Now after many weeks it has not sagged at all.

Excellent Buy
This stand is an excellent solution to raise your monitor. I now own two of these two hold my 23" monitors in my office. There is just enough space below with 1 of the removable height units on to store what you may need.

Cheap Price, Great Quality!

Neater desk and less neck and back pain
I bought this product for my desk at work. It is near perfect! My flat screen monitor fits on top with enough extra room to store my keyboard for when I need a little extra desk space. The area underneath the stand is spacious enough for my sticky notes, hand lotion, etc. So my desk looks neater. Now I can sit up straight and have the middle of the screen at eye level, no more scooching down in my chair. Being able to sit up for the 7+ hours that I am at my desk has made my back and neck hurt less.

Shipping problems
My complaint is with Amazon for the way they have set up the "free shipping". If you select the quick way to purchase and do not go back into the order fast enough you can end up spending $17 in shipping when it could have been free. Maybe other companies need to be considered instead of Amazon!

Samsung series 460 TV
I have been very pleased with this monitor. I have had it for a month and it has performed flawlessly. It has good definition and true colors.

Amazing Screen.
Pro:
There is literally nothing wrong with this. Easy hook up, love the touch sensitive buttons. They aren't too bright either. 1920x1080 resolution is astounding with my ATI Radeon HD 5850 video card :D

Cons:
Glossy attracts dust, but you should know that. Quick wipe down every week makes it look new.

Stand has been redesigned cheaply
I had an older version of this monitor, and bought two more for the office. They came and I was disappointed by the stand, no tilt, not able to rise and lower, its a cheap un-articulating plastic contact that is actually quite short. This is a redesign in the wrong direction, as I bought the same monitor, 2 years ago for the same price with a heavy duty armature.

Thinking of returning, very unergonomic samsung, you should know better.

Nice picture
Nice product. Easy setup. If you want to have fun, give this to old people. I bought it for my neighbor and they couldn't figure out how to turn the thing on. All the buttons are touch feel. I would not recommend it for someone that likes to keep adjusting their monitor. It is a pain the *** with those buttons.

does exactly what I wanted
Used them to hook up my laptop to my new plasma. I thought 10 feet would be more than enough but I could use another 5-6 feet.

This cable did not work on 3 of the 4 TV's I tried it on.
I was not happy with this purchase. It does not work on my TV at home and I spent a while trying to figure out a way to make it work - changing the resolution, computer settings, tv settings, etc. I have used the same type of cable to hook up my computer to the tv before and there were no issues. I wanted to try the cable elsewhere to see if it was just my tv that was having issues - I found that it only worked on 1 of the 4 total TV's that I tried it with. It was a hassle to deal with and the cable is now useless to me.

Excellent Monitor Cord for my Apex Flat Screen TV to my Computer
I own a 40" Apex flat screen TV (HD). I also own a late 2008 White Apple Mac. I wanted to be able to watch HULU on my big screen TV. In order to accomplish this, I purchased the following:

1. Mini-DVA to VGA Female monitor cable adapter

2. a MALE TO MALE Audio Cable

3. This Hi resolution Monitor Cable (male to male)

This monitor cord worked perfectly for my Apex TV. The connection to the computer was a perfect fit..it is pretty snug and does not fall out. The other male connection fit perfectly into the mini-dva adapter as well. One note here is that the screw connections cannot find anything to attach to on the min-dva adapter...so the connection needs to be secure because you can't screw it together. But that does not seem to be problem at this point.

After my research, this seems to be the least expensive monitor cord available. And the quality is excellent. Highly recommend this cord.

doesn't work with my Samsung 23" HDTV
This cable doesn't work at all when I try to connect my Acer computer to my new Samsung HDTV. It's definitely the cable, since I just got a new cable from Radio Shack and it works fine.

Good Product.... Great Picture quality
The quality of the picture is really good. I haven't used any other VGA cable before this but I like this one the most. I use this VGA cable to view movies from my laptop in my 46" LED TV. The best part is it comes with an audio cable which is very useful. I'd definetly recommend this.

Interferes with MacBook, iPhone wireless reception
Love the size, and the price is right, but when I turn on my external monitor the wireless range on my MacBook decreases four-fold, making wireless network practically unusable. I have an ethernet cable in my dorm, thank goodness, but if I didn't I wouldn't be able to use my monitors, because the wireless quality is so bad.

Great Monitor at a Great Price Point
I chose to buy this monitor based on the huge number of positive reviews (Amazon seems to have a slightly lower average rating, other sites with reviews had higher averages, but Amazon had the best price, as always). The packaging was great, the actual retail box was surrounded by padding in a monstrously huge box, so I wasn't worried about any damage. Set it up immediately, connected it to my laptop via DVI, and did a quick check for dead pixels, and couldn't find a single one. (A quick search on Google will yield various free programs that can help you find dead pixels, and help fix stuck pixels, so give them a try before going through a hassle-some return process).

The monitor's great, the brightness is amazing, and the contrast is definitely good. A little bit of bleeding is visible around the bottom edge in dark images, but definitely not a big issue, it's not bad enough to detract from anything I'm looking at, and it's something I'm willing to tolerate at this price level.

The speakers are quite weak, as one might expect, but Asus has provided all the ports you need. I actually have this monitor hooked up to both my desktop and my PS3. My desktop is hooked up to an external speaker system, and I wanted to hook my PS3 up to the same system without a big expensive setup. If you're looking for something similar, here's how I did it:

My desktop is hooked up to the monitor via DVI, and my PS3 is hooked up via HDMI, which carries the audio signal from the PS3 to the monitor. I then connected a male-male 3.5mm audio cable to the headphone port on the VH242H (the output port, which is black; the green one is for input, which will allow you to connect your desktop sound to your monitor, if you're primarily relying on the monitor's speakers) to the microphone port on my desktop. Next (this applies to Windows 7, other versions of Windows should be quite similar), right click the audio icon in the taskbar and select Recording Devices. Find the device into which you plugged the cable, right click it, and open the Properties window. On the Listen tab, check the checkbox next to "Listen to this device." Now, all sound that the monitor would normally play is instead routed through your computer, allowing you to pass it through to the same sound system your computer is hooked up to. Keep in mind, sound from the HDMI connection will only be sent while the monitor is actively on the HDMI video input, while sound from your computer will always be playing. This is actually really convenient, as I can play whatever games on my PS3, and when I need to get back onto my computer for whatever multitasking I'm doing, I don't have to somehow mute the PS3.

Anyways, to sum it up, a great monitor at a great price, that allows me to do everything I wanted it to do: handle multiple inputs, and allow me to pass through audio signals to a better sound system. We'll see how this monitor stands the test of time, and I'll return with a part two to this review in the future!

Excellent Monitor... Until it Died a Year Later
This was an excellent monitor, that I used daily for over a year. Great picture, great look, and overall good quality.

UNTIL...

You may have heard in other reviews about the "flickering gray screen of death". That is exactly what happened to mine, unexpectedly last week. The monitor never moved from my desk, never fell, etc., it just happened randomly while using the computer. If I hit the monitor on the back panel with my hand, it would go away, and reappear in another hour. Then it became more frequent, and a week later, I could not get the screen to work properly, no matter what I tried.

Overall, I cannot and will not recommend this monitor to anyone. Do not buy this monitor.
