pretty good for the price
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He seems to enjoy it. The color is very nice The only thing that would make it better is a higher resolution but even that is not to bad.

Extra monitor for iMac
My iMac (17") developed some annoying vertical lines, so I needed a new monitor. I had to order an adaptor from Apple, but this monitor was reasonably priced, and I couldn't be happier with the final result. The recommended resolution did not fill the entire screen, so with a little experimenting, I found a resolution that looks great and fills the entire screen. My expectations have been met.

Great For a Mac Mini
I originally preferred a Dell monitor for my new (late 2009) Mac Mini. However, it went off sale so I found the HP 2009m. I could not be happier.

The display is beautiful and bright. I never thought I would like a glossy screen, but I have no problems and the colors on the screen really pop. The glossy black finish around the monitor and the aluminum-looking pedestal are reminiscent of an Apple monitor so it fits in pretty good with current Apple styling.

The speakers may not be the highest quality, but with a bit of equalization in iTunes they sound fine to me and I am happy with them. However, if you are an audiophile you won't like them. The volume on the monitor is a little strange (as are all the controls) but I simply leave it at the highest setting and then use the Mac's volume controls.

All the documentation I read said the monitor only included a VGA cable. I was prepared to buy a DVI to connect to the mini-DVI adapter included with the Mac Mini. However, to my surprise a regular DVI cable was included. It's listed on the box and all the packaging information so I assume mine was not a fluke and they all include both a VGA and DVI cable.

I would happily recommend this monitor to anyone, especially if you are buying a Mac Mini.

Nice!
I shopped the B&Ms quite a bit before making this purchase. I wanted a monitor to use with my laptop, which only has a 13 inch screen. This HP monitor has great looks, and the image is clear and bright. There are not a lot of bells and whistles, but at the <150 price-point the bells and whistles are not important.

Comes with DVI and VGA connections and cables.

Note, however, that the resolution is 1600 x 900. If you want to use this as a full-HD monitor, you need to get something a bit larger. Was not an issue for me.

great large screen due to 10:16 format
I have just switched from an old 4:3 20 LCD to this monitor a few days ago. I have three issues so far. 1. The software CD packed with the monitor contained software ONLY for notebook PC's, I have no idea what they might have wanted to provide. 2. There was no software for the built-in web-cam. Windows 7 Professional found the camera and applied Microsoft drivers dated 2006. Since there are no microphones and I already have a web-cam, this is not a problem for me. Although the Asus web site claims to have a utility for the monitor and for Windows 7, the utility could not be downloaded. 3. The VESA mount is set to high. I mounted the monitor on a desk mount arm and found that, since the bracket mounts well above the center of gravity, the LCD keeps tilting down. I could not tighten the arm enough to prevent this. The only way I could solve the problem was to sit the monitor on something, defeating the purpose of having the monitor on a moveable arm.

On the plus side - this is a tremendous monitor, owing much to the 10:16 format instead of the normal 9:16. The 3 watt speakers are more than adequate. I do not do any gaming so I can't comment any further.

Incredible price and great picture
Awesome 26" monitor with a really nice image quality. No dead pixels, everything is really nice... including enough inputs to hook up anything you can think of (HDMI, VGA, DVI and more). I got the model with built in web cam, although haven't tried that yet.

One really great thing about this is the resolution is 1900 x 1200 which is an extra 120 pixels of screen height compared to the 1920 x 1080 1080p most monitors run. If you want to use this for spreadsheets, web design, photoshop etc, those extra pixels of screen height are worth their weight in gold... and this was so cheap it was amazing.

Superb...
Best Monitor I have ever had... picture quality is perfect. No dead pixels. no weird coloring like some people complained about(just have to mess with color settings a bit). speakers are pretty good imo, I have a fairly small room so I dont need loud ass speakers. digital camera is pretty decent not great considering its only 2megapix, but it does the job, and only for an extra (...) bucks I say its worth it. stand is pretty sturdy no problems with it at all. this thing is bright as hell, at night I have to turn the brightness to the lowest and even then its still kinda bright. playing COD MW2 is freakin awesome on this monitor, movies are just as pleasing. I dont have any problem with blacks either or dark movie scenes. to sum it up... no cons besides the fact it doesnt come with two HDMI ports. I have to switch my Xbox from my PC all the time, kind of a hassle... but perfect other than that

Webcam not functional
If you are thinking of purchasing this monitor for your Windows 7 system, DON'T!!! The webcam on this monitor is incompatible with
Windows 7. It works with XP and Vista, but NOT WINDOWS 7! ASUS doesn't plan to update the driver to solve that problem. All you see is a bunch of large two-toned gray pixels (maybe 100 or so). Not even a low-res picture.

There's no point paying $40 more for a webcam that doesn't work. Get the model that doesn't have a webcam or a monitor from a trusted manufacturer. Asus is manufactured in CHINA. After all the crappy coming of that country lately, I shouldn't known better than to have purchased this one. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

ASUS 26" LCD Monitor - beautiful picture!
I was nervous purchasing a monitor on line, such a hassle to return if something is wrong. This monior is beautiful. No bad pixels. I have put it throught the paces, it responds beautifuly. I don't know what took me so long to purchase a large monitor. So much easier on the eyes, plus, pictures, streaming video are crisp, colorful and just great to watch. Asus has a fine product here. If you are looking for a 26" monitor, this one is a fine choice! The sound is great as well, sounds as good as my external speakers. I haven't used the web cam yet, but it came up immediately as available. I intend to hang this LCD on the wall as soon as I find an appropriate articulating wall arm that I like.

Works just fine
Got this to run my computer to both the monitor and to my 37" HDTV and it works perfectly. The computer sits right between the two, so I have only a 6 foot cable to each, but I have seen absolutley no ill effects from the splitting.

Works Great
I've read the other reviews about this splitter. I do not know what they are talking about but I think it works great. I get the same picture on my television as I get on my computer monitor. I can leave them plugged in and turned on at the same time and it couldn't be better. In fact I watch almost all the Netflex movies on the TV. Great picture! I couldn't be happier!!

True... If you have two monitors of different size, then you cannot get the right display ration on both monitors at the same time. For this I do recommend a switch box...

Neater desk and less neck and back pain
I bought this product for my desk at work. It is near perfect! My flat screen monitor fits on top with enough extra room to store my keyboard for when I need a little extra desk space. The area underneath the stand is spacious enough for my sticky notes, hand lotion, etc. So my desk looks neater. Now I can sit up straight and have the middle of the screen at eye level, no more scooching down in my chair. Being able to sit up for the 7+ hours that I am at my desk has made my back and neck hurt less.

Less than a month old, it is sagging in the middle.
First, the design description, which is not complete from the manufacturer: each of the four legs of the stand is comprised of your choice of 1 to 4 plastic pieces. Thus, the monitor stand height has four discrete "settings".

It is large, which is nice, because it also acts as a shelf for a few desk items, and allows the area underneath to be used for more desk clutter.

But, after a month of use, with a 22" widescreen LCD monitor on it, it is sagging in the middle. The problem is that my monitor's base now wobbles front to back with any desk vibration because of the sag in the monitor stand. The sag produces a small gap and it is only supporting my monitor's base at the right and left sides. Monitor's front and back feet are suspended a millimeter or so above the gap created from the sag, which allows it to wobble front-to-back.

At the time of purchase, I felt this was basically an overpriced piece of plastic, but I needed it for better ergonomics. Now that it is sagging, I think it's an overpriced piece of junk. If I had not recycled all the packaging, I would return it.

Near Perfection
I read all the previous reviews and order the stand based on them and I have to say every one of them was dead on the money. This is an amazing monitor stand and the stock photos really don't do it justice. So simple to use and adjust to what you are comfortable with. It's beyond sturdy and even though it's plastic it's extremely gorgeous and compliments the computer and speakers very well. Even if you don't end up using for your computer monitor it's truly multi-functional. You really just can't go wrong with this product.

Versatile and Reasonablly Priced
3M's Monitor Stand is very easy to put together (parts snap together...no tools required), it's versatile in height and sturdy. It looks great with my computer equipment and the price is very reasonable!

Great monitor for a good price.
When I opened this monitor up I was pleasantly surprised to notice how nicely built it was. Very easy hook up, and no extra cords were needed. The screen is wide enough to have 2 windows open at once. I recommend.

HP Widescreen Monitor
I have had this product for a few weeks now and WOW I love it. It replaced another flat screen, but the colors are so much more vivid on this one. Haven't watched a movie or TV program yet, but I do not think there will be any disappointment. Love the wide-screen, very glad I purchased it. I am on the computer much of the time due business. The text and pictures on this monitor are so much easier for me to see. I HIGHLY recommend it if you are looking to buy or upgrade your monitor.

It's big and in full HD
I connected this to my laptop with and HDMI cable which enables the display to produce full HD picture and its beautiful. The speakers don't have much low end and don't get very loud but I didn't purchase this product for the sounds it makes. The picture is crystal clear and thats all I care about.

Beautiful display!
Had this for a little over a day. The screen is very big, and provides more than enough room for multiple windows. I'm an artist that works with Photoshop, and wanted to switch to a widescreen display so I could reduce menu and window clutter. This screen does that, while providing a rich and sharp picture. Not to mention it was very cheap (I paid $210 at OfficeMax). Very good value for the price. I'm lovin' it.

I like it a lot
Monitor stand is very sturdy. We'd read reviews of several other monitors, for which this did not seem to be the case. We've been using it for about 2 weeks now with HDMI interface and haven't had any problems. The colors are vivid and we really like the high resolution. Built-in speakers sound pretty good.

Acer 17 inch monitor
I bought a new computer and wanted to get the old computer up and going for my kids, but didn't want to spend alot of money on a new monitor. This was an excellant choice. Compact, great picture just a overall great monitor for the money.

I love this monitor
I originally bought one of the new style monitor and found to my dismay that all images are distorted by the rectangular image. Since I use my monitor for work for a charity, "The City of Hope" that made it impossible to view objects in true form. Thankfully after buying other items through Amazon I went on line and found this monitor, returned the other and am delighted. The picture is clear and bright, objects are show realistically to size, it takes up less room is slim and attractive. Hope when the time comes it will continue to be available should I ever need another.

Vivid Display at a Great Price
I'm pleased with this purchase. The 17" display at the traditional 4:3 (roughly) aspect ratio provides plenty of "real estate" for viewing Internet content, for graphics work and page layout, and for working in several application windows at the same time. The screen resolution (1280x1024) is fine, making for clean and crisp images. The refresher rate is also satisfactory, as there is no apparent flicker and video appears smooth.

The menu and settings for brightness, contrast, etc. are simple and intuitive. I haven't had to make any custom settings and I'm happy with the presets.

It's a good monitor at a very competitive price!

Gray Flickering Screen
I bought two of these monitors for a video editing machine. One died yesterday, giving me only a gray flickering screen. I checked the monitor with HDMI cable and on two other computers. The problem is with the monitor. I have had them less than 5 months and one is dead. I see many other reviews that mention bad custopmer service from Asus, a cost to return it and incomplete or poorly vetted repairs when they were sent back to Asus. I haven't the time or money to waste sending one back to Asus. I wish Amazon had a concierge or extended warranty service. Amazon is easy to deal with, most of the companies whose products they carry are not any good at customer service. Spend your money on a Samsung or Dell monitor. I'll be buying new monitors at a store that handles the returns for me, should something go wrong.

Beautiful monitor especially for the price
I bought this monitor at the beginning of September '09 for $200 from tigerdirect. It is now Feb '10 and it's still working perfectly. the image quality is vibrant and dynamic and the speakers on it aren't half bad! sound is not great but probably the best built in speakers i've heard on any monitors from this size range. As a laptop monitor and for gaming with my ps3 it is definitely worth every cent. The buttons are a little awkward to push and do seem a little flimsy, but you really only need to push the power button and the input button for switching between devices. The other thing is that all of the inputs are in the back which can be a pain sometimes. I wish they had at least put the hdmi slot on the side and the headphone jack in the front for easier access. I would highly recommend this monitor.

ASUS VH242H monitor
I was a little skeptical at first as I haven't heard of ASUS before but I bought it to upgrade a Dell 20-inch monitor and I'm pleasently surprised and happy with the unit. I've had it for about a month now and have experienced no problems at all, no dead pixels I can find. At $200 it sure beats the others price-wise.

It does seem a little brighter than my Dell and experimenting with brightness, contrast etc. from factory was needed to suit me but that's to be expected. I have not tried any input except the DVI but I didn't buy it to watch DVDs so HDMI wasn't a deciding factor for me, I have a 47-inch Visio TV for that.

Amazon shipped quickly as usual and I'm very happy with the monitor.

Great value 24" LCD
I bought a pair of these and am very happy. Both look great and no dead pixels in either display. For under $200 each you can't beat these ASUS monitors.

Awsome Purchase so far!
I have to say, i am impressed , fast delivery , no hissing/humming sound for me. I have set up the t.v and cable channels didn't even take up to a minute, My t.v's sound is superb on cable, i have not tried my ps3 on it yet but i am sure it will be great even though i bought some nice surround system which hasn't come in yet . But about the sound.. those people must be using air or local channels .. the sound is based on the channel you are on so if you have cable or higher you will be alright i put it at 1/4 the total volume and it was still loud on channels like : Nick. Power plug is not lose you have to hold the front of the t.v and give it a little thrust in and you will feel it go in firmly. nice design really, nice Hd picture. very nice design i must say. As a HdTV it's superb i give it an A+. now i am going to check how it works with my laptop and i will update on the review. Anyways so far so good Buy it! i checked on youtube and read all comments before i bought it. REALLY i am serious most negative comments you see are from people that did not take time to observe and find what they were looking for or people that just had bad luck , i.e people that complain about the humming i think its either the shipment or you bought a refurbished one.. i bought the brand new one from Amazon. No problems so far, so buy from amazon and just wait till you get i.. im telling you you will be PROUD.

The monitor is really a TV, and the picture is sharp and clear. The price was right and we got it on sale--it had good reviews when we looked it up and they were all correct. We had no problem with installation, but that's because we had help. It didn't come with the DVI cable we needed, but we had one on hand, so it worked seamlessly.

Great product loses a star for poor documentation.
I bought one of these from Staples two weeks ago. My primary use for it is as a monitor and my secondary use is as a TV. As a monitor I find the picture great but the speakers are only adequate. When connected to my Cablebox the picture was also very nice and I found the sound acceptable.

For me this Display/TV loses a star in part because of the sound and in part because of the poor documentation. I need to hookup _two_ PC's to this Display, my desktop and my laptop. I intended to use the HDMI input for one PC and the DVI input for the other. This is how it's hooked up now but the picture quality via HDMI is unacceptable unless you label the HDMI input "PC via the menus E.g.:

Menu -> Input -> Edit Name -> { HDMI1, HDMI2 } -> "PC"

I found this tip on the internet. And then searched the manual to confirm that it's not documented at all. After all is said and done it only took buying two cables and writing a bad review of a Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter to figure this out.

Sweet Monitor, Great Deal
Needed a computer monitor and a TV. This one does both well for a great price! The only down side that I have found is that this model has no composite or S-video inputs. I have owned other Samsung monitors and they last forever, I am hoping that this one does too. I highly recommend this unit.

Got this very quickly from the seller. Works fine. The first thing I did was watch a netflix movie and the quality was outstanding. The screws are very difficult to turn. There was a slight hum when just using your desktop. My cable came wrapped by three twist-ties and not wrapped in the plastic like the picture shows; so I may have been given a used or returned item. I am happy with it and would recommend this to a friend.

ask for refund
when i finished add it to my cart, it doesnot show the shipping information on the left side, which always has the option for super free save shipping, i thought this was also free shipping as a default same as others. so i place order, finally it showed that i have already paid $47 for shipping, it is ridicules, ha. why it does not remind me of the shipping information, instead it make a $47 shipping as default, right now i have paid $60 to ship it back. hopefully i can get the refund immediately asap. next time more attention should be taken on all the procedures.

Great monitor!
I purchased this monitor as a X-Mas gift for my daughter's computer to replace her smaller monitor. It arrived on time and was simple plug-n-play set up. works great, looks good and she can see all of those "evil monsters" she kills on her game easier. Oh, she can see her term papers easier too! :) Great price!

A Basic Monitor
Opened package set up monitor and it automatically calibrated. I tweaked the settings a bit. Acceptable Monitor. Has trouble adjusting to different Resolutions in different games. I notice a kind of distortion that fuzzes out vertical lines. When it is set to the recommended resolution, it performs wonderfully. The speakers are unacceptable, Very thin sounding. Low Price decent picture.

Nice but had a defect
This monitor arrived with a dead pixel, a small white spot in the monitor. Other than that, we were happy with the product. Amazon's return policy was great, and we were given our money back very quickly.
