Order Processing "2 Thumbs Down"
I really like this product. It is very efficient for the price. I just wish amazon order processing was half as efficient. I should have paid the $1.99 shipping at Newegg & I would have my product by now. With Amazon, I cannot see that it has shipped 5 days later. :(

Great labeler - versatile and easy to use
I had a little battery powered only Brother labeler that died of old age, and traded up to this one. The ability to interface with a computer, the array of choices in fonts, font size, and width, and the automatic cutting make this very easy to use.

Don't bother with the JV squad ones - get this and you'll be glad.

Brother's Flagship Labeler
I've had the Brother Desktop Labeler for over 3 years and it has been a indispensable tool for helping to keep me organized. It produces very professional-looking labels. It can be linked up with a computer so you're able to design your label on the computer and send it to the labeler for printing via a USB cable.

A quick word about the PT-2700 (this model) vs. the PT-2710 -- the only difference between the PT 2700 and the PT-2710 is that the PT-2710 comes with a plastic case for holding the power cable and other accessories; this model does not.

Pros
----
- Keyboard
The keyboard has a QWERTY layout. Although it is not a full-sized keyboard, you can type on it almost as comfortably as you do on a regular keyboard. There's enough room between the keys so you can place your fingers in the "home position" (i.e. the asdf jkl; keys). The keys are rubberized, so they make absolutely no noise when you're typing.

- Backlight
The backlight is very bright, which makes it very easy to read what's on the screen.

- Professional Printing
The text produced on the tape is sharp and professional-looking.

- Print Preview
Some reviewers say the print preview looks nothing like the actual label being printed - and I must agree - the low resolution LCD screen can only go so far in rendering the print preview. However, I personally found the preview very helpful because it does in fact provide an accurately scaled representation of the label so you have pretty good idea how big the text is relative to the label, how much margin is around the text, etc.

- Computer Hookup
You can have many more fonts or designs to choose from if you elect to design your label on your computer with the software provided. You can embellish your text by incorporating text framing or a fill Pattern. It is also capable of producing a variety of bar codes formats. To print, simply link up the label to your computer with a USB cable. Another advantage to designing your label with the computer is that the software provides a highly detailed and accurate preview of a label to be printed.

- Many types of labels to choose from
The labels come in 9/64", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 1" sizes. You can also choose from white, colored (a variety of colors), clear, and matte labels. You can fit up to 7 lines on the 1" label. Select the right kind of label for your needs -- the labeler can be used to label jars, cannisters, bottles, boxes, binders, folders, envelops (e.g. address labels), storage drawers, electrical cables/wires, switches, etc. The labels can be used both indoors and outdoors because they are designed to withstand weathering.

- "crack and peel" Tape
Brother's ""crack and peel" tape makes it very easy to remove the liner to expose the adhesive surface.

Cons
----
- Stiff Keys
The keys on the keyboard are a little stiff, so you have to push down a little harder than you do on a regular keyboard.

- Waste of Tape
By default, the labeler snips off about an inch tape before printing a label. You can adjust the settings and bring it down to about 1/2 inch but there's no way to disable this "feature." According to Brother, the length of leader tape that's been out of the cartridge for long periods have a tendency to curl up and thus has to be snipped off before printing begins. But if I'm printing say 10 labels, I need only to snip off the leader tape in front of my first label -- not so with the labeler, it wastes tape by snipping off the leader tape before _each_ of the 10 labels.

- No File Names
You can't use filenames to save your work on the labeler. The files can only be saved as numbers (01 - 99).

- Expensive Tape Cartridges
Some of the tapes the labeler uses are: TZ251, TZ231, and TZ131, for 1" Black on White Tape, 1/2" Black on White Tape, and 1/2" Black on Clear Tape, respectively. If you check out their prices, you can see that while they're not prohibitively expensive, they're definitely not cheap!

- Pricey
This labeling machine is a little pricey. (Shop around for the best price.)

Conclusion
----------
The bottom line is the Brother PT-2700 is one of the best Desktop Labelers, and it does a fine job of producing professional looking labels. The computer connectivity is useful for giving you a wide selection of fonts and symbols. In addition, there are different colors, sizes, and types of label cartridges to choose from to suit your labelling needs. My only real gripe is the cost of the label cartridges and the wasting of tape -- apart from that, I really don't have anything significant to complain about it. If you need a labeler for a wide variety of labeling projects, I would definitely recommend this one.

Excellent Brother Labeling System
I recently purchased the Brother PT-2700 and this was an upgrade from an older Brother model that only handled up to 18mm tape (3/4"). I really like all the extra features that this label maker has, especially the ability to preview labels before printing. It is also really nice to have a rolling length count in inches so you know exactly how long the label will be. That is nice if you have a maximum distance for the label your printing so you can adjust the font, character spacing, etc... so your label will fit. It is also really nice to be able to change the margins on your label so you don't have to cut off the excess tape all the time. I wasn't using this feature at first but now that I have found it I can put away my scissors once and for all. The extra fonts, 1 inch tape maximum size, preview ability, and many other features are available in this label maker, which really isn't much larger, or much more expensive, than my old label maker. I should have made the change to this label system years ago because I would have paid for it by now just in the tape I didn't have to throw away. I've only had this machine a short while but you can tell I'm already really sold on it, and I haven't even hooked it up to my computer yet. Great job Brother on a really nice product.

a trouble free workhorse
I have had this printer for 3 years in constant use for printing out .pdf files for research. I have had absolutely no major trouble. I inadvertently overloaded the paper feed and it jammed one time. Look for toner cartridges on line, Staples and Office Max too expensive. I am very pleased with the printers toner life, I go one year on a toner. After three years of ownership, I confidently rate this product as excellent.

Excellent Laser Printer
Having owned an older version of this Brother laser printer for several years, we found ourselves with extra toner cartridges and a printer, though still working, that would only feed with its top-loading feeder and not the higher-capacity tray. Since we had used that model with no negative issues, this newer HL-5240 was the perfect solution. It shadows the functionality of the older printer, with a few minor exceptions and allows us to finish our stock of cartridges. This is a high-use machine, prints quietly, fast, and very clear. We have used it for all types of documents, different weights of paper, never have had a problem. It's fast, economical, and I would purchase this, or a newer model of the same machine again if available.

Get what you pay for.
The printer is lacking network ports & other important features. Price looks great until you open the box & see everything it is missing. The company I ordered from has not called me back to exchange "Global Express' Does not have an operator or a live person you can talk too. Bad Deal!

Nice laser printer for home use
We've had this printer for about three years now and are currently on our third toner cartridge. In that time, we haven't had any problems at all with it.

Most of the use actually comes from our three kids who tend to do a lot of printing for both school and personal use. For example, our youngest often prints out pages from the Internet that she uses to color. For this kind of use an inkjet is way too expensive and this laser does a great job at keeping the cost per page down. All I have to do is watch for good sales on paper:).

As far as performance goes, this printer is fast and the output has always looked great. Although inkjets do great with photos, I've never liked the way text looks compared to a laser - and the text on this laser is as smooth as I could ever want. I also like that this printer is small enough to literally fit inside a cabinet where it is completely out of sight unless it is being used.

The only thing to keep in mind with these has to do with toner usage. When the printer says it is out of toner - it really isn't. I just put a bit of masking tape over the sensor windows on both ends of the toner cartridge and then the toner will last for several hundred more pages.

A lot of people have mentioned there are issues printing envelopes; and I will admit that they do come out just a bit crinkled on the bottom. So, if you are planning on printing lots of envelopes you should keep that in mind. For my purposes it isn't an issue since I'm not printing them for business use. The crinkling is minor enough that I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't read it was a problem first.

I tend to be an early adopter and kind of like to have the latest tech stuff (it's an addiction:)), but I still haven't really seen any newer printers that are enough better than this model to justify switching. Because of that, I still recommend this printer for home or small business use.

Not for envelopes
Excellent printer for everything but envelopes. Mangles envelopes no matter what(see 1 and 2 star reviews). So, if you need to do envelopes, buy a different printer. Everything else including labels, duplexing, etc have worked perfectly. I have had one paper jam in 4400 copies. First copy comes in a few seconds. To be fair, since I seldom do envelopes, I have not tried Brother service to fix the envelope problem.

Software is pretty good and tech support about as good as any these days. For tech support if you get an idiot or someone you can't understand, just hang up and start over. Put the phone on speaker and do something else while you wait on hold. Owner's manual(CD only) is ok.

In summary, 5 stars for paper, 1 star for envelopes.

Laptop Speakers
The B-Flex speaker sounds great if you are watching DVDs.You want ear phones if you are listening to music. I'm quite happy with the B-Flex.

SOUND
Laptop speakers are just not strong enough. This speaker helps and that's about it. I was thinking that it mite work with the sound system already in the laptop, but that was, of course, wrong. I have a very nice HP that I got about three months ago and I think the sound needs a little more strength. I have the regular computers and this is my first laptop so I am a novice and this device is only a little bit better than what I have. I kept it, but my husband has a toshiba laptop and he says that he would have returned it.

These do what they say they'll do
Not much to write about. I bought two--for my wife's HP and my Dell. both work great. It boosts just enough to help mother in law hear. It is not high quality, but they don't promise that. I can hook up to my sound system if I need it.

Simply Amazing On My HP Laptop!!
I was very disappointed with the sound on my new HP laptop I had custom made....so I bought this. I'm left simply amazed with the sound & wonder why I waited so long to buy it. If you want excellent sound & sound quality, then this speaker is for you. But fair warning, turn down the sound on your computer before you use it for the first time :-)

Great product
I have had this speaker for a few months and have used it while traveling many times and it works great and provides just enough sound and is extremely easy to use. I highly recommend it. I use it mainly to listen to music on my computer in hotel rooms where it is perfect. It is not a substitute for something like a logitec speaker system (which I have in my home) but as a traveling speaker, it could not be better.

Great product. Good value at a really cheap price. Sturdy and roomy. I love it.

Printer Stand
This printer stand looks great, is well made and holds a lot of paper. I use one the top left slot for new paper, the top right slot for paper that I am going to use again (to print on both sides) and the bottom slot for empty file folders and a reference book.

The extra slots keep my supplies within arms reach, neat and organized. The cost was reasonable, a good value. Shipping was timely, the stand arrived a couple of days earlier than promised.

Great space saver printer stand
Good space saver printer stand, great value. I needed a low stand for my huge printer and this worked perfect, and it also looks very nice.
The only problem I had was that there was a chip on one of the corners, but since the chip is on the back corner I didn't want to bother with the hassle of the exchange process. Other that this, a very good product.

Printer Stand
The finish gives this stand a classy look. It is, however, a pretty big (wide and deep) piece so make sure you have enough room on your desk. The paper slots are decent, but I tried using them for envelopes and that didn't really work. But overall, it's doing the job just fine.

SLED 10 CBT CD - Very Basic Assistance
I really pondered over whether or not I would purchase this item and actually only did so when I found the price to be greatly reduced over what I found on Novell's site. This may be a good offering for those having little to no experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and more specifically, the applications available with the operating system, ie. Firefox, OpenOffice, and Banshee to mention a few. Those who have greater experience may want to pass.
