Very, very good for the money.
Alright, I waited a full month before doing this review because I wanted to make sure I was testing what the product really was, and not what it started off being. Overall, this Genius tablet has been working great and has been a great asset to my digital drawing. Also, for those who say that it doesn't work well with Windows 7 I ask: Have you downloaded the add-on off of [...]? If not, there's your problem.
Now for some specifics.
Sensitivity: This tablet is very good. You can set the sensitivity, and other features, quite easily. Sure, sometimes the sensitivity came off and on, but it eventually went away through weeks of tweaking the settings (if you have the same problem, wait for a week or two and it should go away). Now, the tablet's sensitivity is working just great! For those who say that the tablet has dead-spots, please skip over to my section on "Battery" because, unless it is truly the pressure sensitive area that has the problem, it is the pen's battery.
Size: I don't know why people would want a bigger size, or a smaller size for that matter, because the 8"x6" tablet is a really good size to start on. In reality, the tablet is much bigger than I had anticipated.
Pen: What can I say? It's a good pen. The buttons are good, the feel is good, and the pen tip is quite good as well. Now, if only they had a grip for that thing for when I draw for more than one hour at a time... that would be great.
Battery: Now, I have read plenty of reviews that said that the batteries that came with the tablet were a bunch of bologna. I took that advice, got a battery from my parents' room, and put it in the pen. When I had installed the things in the CD AND the add-on from the [...] website, I tried out my new tablet. At first it worked like a charm. However, I noticed that in certain spots, the pen would stop working. I went over and over the same spot, but the computer would only register few movements in that general area. Once some time had passed, I could draw over that area easily, but another area would become "dead", or so I thought. It went like this for about two weeks, and then I finally changed the battery to, what else, the battery that came with the tablet. The "dead" spots disappeared altogether. In short, the batteries that come with that come with the tablet are not a sham. They're good, really good. In fact, I'm still using the first battery that came with the tablet.
Installation: I heard to ignore the CD altogether when installing it, but I chose to ignore the advice instead. To tell you the truth, I'm glad I ignored the advice. After all, why would Genius send something that would just mess with the computer? Do they REALLY want a thousand people, per day, telling them that their CD does not do what it is intended to do? My advice is to pop in the CD, read through the already printed instructions, wait for the 10+ minutes of installation (depending on your computer RAM, I think), and download the add-on from [...] for your specific operating system (OS). After that, if you have the same problem with sensitivity that I had, you should check the settings with the tablet often in case they change unexpectedly. Other than that, your tablet, after you check the battery on the pen, will be working well.
Overall, this tablet is great. The ONLY thing that I have against this tablet is that it is too big for my work area. That, however, is something that applies only to me. Do your own measurements and it should become clear if you have enough space for this. Then again, you can clear area.
I hope my review will help some of you thinking about buying this tablet and some of you who are having these temporary problems with the tablet.
Thank you for reading,
Abdiel
Metallic Junk
So I was looking for an affordable tablet, and ended up getting this one. I saw the price around $50 so I figured what the heck? and get it. I was drawn in by all the features it "supposedly" has. When you run the driver, it's the most cumbersome thing to use. The instructions aren't clear and don't specifically tell you step by step how to install the features. Also, I was excited because I was supposedly going to get a program with it. Here's the catch, it's a TRIAL so if you would like a program to use with it, you have to buy it. That's another expense down the toilet. The pen is terrible and if you try to write it with, it messes up and sometimes doesn't even respond at all. Face it, it's just metallic junk, something else to have laying around. I wouldn't reccomend this fancy looking junk to anyone, regardless of price.
Save your money towards a better tablet because this thing just isn't worth it.
Windows 7 lag time
I've never owned a pen and tablet before so I am unspoiled by Wacom. That being said the pen and tablet work great for me. It worked fine on my XP and my Vista laptops but when I tried on my Windows 7 computer it had a terrible lag time. The lag time was so terrible that it made the pen and tablet unusable. There is a fix for this however I will give you the steps.
1) Unplug tablet from computer
2) Uninstall the devices (tablet and pen) from your computer (use device manager) 3) Reboot your computer
4) Plug the tablet back in.
5) Windows 7 will tell you it is installing new decvice.
6) Star enjoying your pen and tablet. :)
If you are going to buy this and are using windows 7 do not use the CD to install the pen and tablet. Just plug it in and let windows worry about installing it. Fortunately for me I am a computer GEEK and was able to figure out a fixed to the problem. If it wasn't for the windows 7 issue I would have given the product 5 stars. I hope this helps someone because for the price this is a really good buy.
Bang for the buck
This is my first graphic tablet. It came a couple days ago, setup was just a few clicks. Then i installed latest drivers from Genius website. At first i had problem controlling the pen and such. However i think it's because this was my first tablet. So i started to study on Photoshop to learn to use this better. I would like to say those who complain about Photoshop sensivity issue probably don't know how to use Photoshop. To use pen and brush tool effectively you have to setup Pen Pressure settings in Brush and Pen settings section of PS.
By the end of the day i was able to produce a professional looking comic page. I will use this for professional purposes and even though i never used a Wacom i can say it wouldn't be much better than this, since i am able to produce professional looking works with this tablet too. Overall even if you have enough money to buy Wacom i would recommend to buy this instead first, because it's so cheap and it would especially be great for beginners. If you have a child who likes drawing, this would be a great birthday present too. All it takes some patience and study.
Dies fast
When I first purchased this device, it worked just fine. I like to feel of the stylus on the tablet surface because it feels like pencil on paper. The dimensions are perfect for my monitor. I don't have to worry about running out of space on the tablet. It's simple to use, but responds slow. The problem: I had it for about three months and now it won't work anymore. I have to continually uninstall and reinstall the drivers. The disk has outdated drivers for Windows 7 so I downloaded the drivers off of the website. It worked for a few hours, then wouldn't respond. Highly disappointing. The tablet will light when I tap the pen to it but the cursor won't move. It's not worth getting for the low price. You can spend less now, but in the long run you're paying more to purchase a new one. Might as well spend the extra buck for longevity.

great price, great product
Takes a little getting used to if you've never used one before, but its been fun for me getting adjusted to it. the software that came bundled with it was well worth the price. Definitely would recommend.
Love It! Works better than described
I only wish I had decided to purchase something like this before. I use it every day without any problems.
I love It
I love this tablet, its very easy to use and its durable. It got knocked off a table and i have had no problems since. The only problem I have had is that if you frequntly use it you go through the nibs on the pen pretty quickly and if you wait too long to change them, it will be very hard if not impossible to get it out. However, i completly recomend it.
Fun Tablet is fun
Not much to say except that is does what I need to do, and it fits in the space I have available.
Love my Wacom!
Packaged nicely and looked brand new as if it had never been used. Easy to install, all install cds were included. Works great and do not have any problems with it. I took some time to review this product (2 months exactly) to make sure my review was for an extended period of time not just a day or week. I love it and think purchasing this refurbished was the best choice I made. I have no regrets and I am so happy with my purchase!

Media Graphics Tablet never installed.
This product arrived well-packaged and in good condition, but when I attempted to install the drivers, my computer froze up and would not reboot, even in safe mode. I finally had to pay a computer shop $175 to repair Windows XP. After using the computer for about a week, I decided to give the product another chance - same story. I then paid the same computer shop $195 this time to repair Windows XP OS and supposedly install the drivers. The drivers never installed, so I never even got to use the tablet at all. The tablet manufacturer only said, "We never heard of that before", so I spent $140 for the tablet and $370 in computer repair, and finally sent the tablet back for a refund, which is on its way to me. (I'm still out the $370 for computer repair.)
A great buy
I have been practicing digital art for a little over a year now. This is the second Adesso Tablet I've purchased. I started with their cybertablet 12000 which works fairly well, but wanted to upgrade.
I've only had the M14 (this one) installed for a few moments and already I love it. The scroll buttons seem a little odd to me, as they both scroll in the same direction, but they work well. The 4000 LPI resolution allows me to do cross-hatch sketching very accurately, and the 1024 pressure sensitivity works like a charm. I've never used a WACOM tablet before, but I can't imagine it being any better than this unless it does the work for you.
I haven't bothered with the shortcut keys yet, as I can't think of any reason for them, but I'm sure they work just as well as the other functions.
Easy to install, easy to use.
If you'd like to see what I've done with Adesso's Tablets, check out my deviantart page. [...].
Adesso support is non-existant
I have tried for 3 weeks to contact Adesso regarding the installtion of the tablet. They do not answer their phone, email or the Help Desk requests. I am unable to complete the installation and use the product. I am very disappointed.
A great buy
Purchased the package deal for my 13 years old daughter for X-mas. Excellent time of arrival. My daughter instaled the programs (easy), set up the tablet (easy), and has not stopped drawing. A great buy.
Adesso Graphics Tablet
This is the first graphics tablet that I have ever purchased, but it was easy to install and so far I love how it works.

good tablet. recognize Chinese without problem on Win 7 pro
just bought this and downloaded win7 driver and software from Penpower website. the Chinese recognition function is integrated in, although it's not working super greatly but it can recognize most of my writings. I worked on photo editing with this tablet in PS CS4 too, it worked greatly. Really a five star product.
Disappointed
I read reviews of all similar products, and I choose this one. I was so excited as I waited for the shipment to arrive. But after a couple uses, my enthusiasm sank into disappointment.
The tablet is sensitive to varrying pressue, so that part is all right. But it has a major flaw. If you draw a quick line that leaves the surface and want to repeat this motion as several quick flicks, it creates new random lines in different directions. The tablet is obviously confused. It assumes that you are going to be drawing one continuous line, or that there will be a substantial amount of time between the end of one line and the start of another. this is ridiculous.
As an artist, I know that your drawing gets it's energy from your line quality. Several quick lines can be used for drawing hair, grass, motion lines etc. But the product was evidently created by engineers without this type of artistic flair. they are measured and calculated with their lines, so I bet they are clueless to this issue even existing.
So it depends on your uses. If you are going to do slow calculated lines, or at least never need to lift the pen off the tablet, this product should work for you fine. But if you are an artist planning on drawing with energy, then I strongly suggest you find a way to demo this thing before you spend your money on it.
This product cannot write in Chinese
I thought this product can write in Chinese because it made by pen power, but it doesn't. It's only can do in graph only. If anyone in here wants to buy this product and can write in Chinese don't think about it. It doesn't work....it works in Mac, but make sure Tooya comes with the Chinese input software....this is not come with it.
Chinese writing input for MAC
I bought this tablet mainly for chinese writing input, yes, the chinese software has to be purchased separately. I found one in Ebay for less than $30. not bad.
the tablet is big to this first time user. Since I use it mainly for Chinese input, I wish they had a Mac version from the smaller Windows based model.
Great product for the low price
For the size 10x6.25, you can't ask for more for the price. It will cost probably twice as much to purchase a wacom. For all purposes, tooya tablet is a great purchase. I like the stylus, it feels so comfortable. It is thicker than many other styluses. It has a real feel like those good ol fountain pens. If you work for Disney or Pixar, you might not need it. For the rest of us mortals, go for it by all means.
Tooya Pro is a graphics tablet, it doesn't come with a handwriting recognition software. If you want such software, buy it from another vendor.

Perfect for the money
I'll start out by saying that I relatively high expectations for this product when I purchased it, and I have not been let down. This is the only tablet I've owned, and the only one I've used for an extended period of time, and for my needs it works great. The workspace seems to be the perfect size, and has blank space all around it. I thought the blank space would be an issue, but it's really important for comfortability. The high LPI picks up deft movements quite well, the pressure sensor is wonderful, and the pen feels quite comfortable in my hand. The mouse is decent, but I prefer using the mouse I was using before (and still can with no hassle.) The mouse and pen do feel a little flimsy, I'll admit, but not so much that it would cause a problem.
I have 4 issues with this tablet - no eraser end of the pen, the pen and mouse require batteries, the shortcuts on the pad don't open programs correctly (might be my fault) and there is no tilt control on the pen. However, I can grab some rechargeable AAA batteries, select the eraser tool in the program itself, and launch programs the old fashioned way. The lack of tilt is the only key aspect for me.
Overall, I would highly recommend this tablet for newcomers to digital art, even just for touching up photographs in Photoshop. I don't believe I have the expertise to recommend it to a professional, but I don't see anything barring it's use in a professional application. For the money, I believe you get the best bang for your buck here.
Inexpensive graphics tablet that actually works
I bought this to replace an old Intuos 2 pad that finally died. Price was my main consideration, and in that regard, this is a steal. The least expensive Wacom 8x6 pad is $200. You might find it for $180 if you shop, but it's still over twice as much.
The main question is how does this compare to the Wacom Bamboo, the least expensive equivalent? The most important consideration is accuracy, and surprisingly, it's an (almost) even contest. With over 1000 levels of pressure sensitivity, it's more than good enough for photo editing, which is my main use. The pen nibs are not quite as smooth to use but work well enough. Construction quality is not the same. The pad, itself seems more cheaply made, and the mouse is flimsy. The Wacom Bamboo, doesn't even need a mouse anymore, you can use finger gestures, which are a definite improvement. The Genius pen uses a battery, the Wacom doesn't need one. That's not a big deal for me, but worth noting.
For the extra money the Wacom Bamboo comes with full working copies of Corel Painter and Photoshop Elements. The Genius MousePen only has time limited demos. Elements is a version old but still an excellent program. There's also a set of Photoshop filters that are of good quality. If you don't have those programs, especially Elements, the Wacom becomes a bargain. I do, so didn't want to pay extra for duplicates.
The pad works with Macs, but doesn't have all the functionality that it does with Windows. Boo. You can automatically send handwritten notes to Outlook in Windows but not Mail with Macs. On the plus side there are two dozen customizable keys around the edges of the tablet compared to 4 on the Bamboo. That's a definite plus.
If you already own your graphics software, this is a bargain. If you are also looking for painting or photo editing software, consider the Wacom tablets.
I love it !!
Pros:
Very affordable price
Plentiful hot keys
Active area is spacious
Pen Storage
Cons:
Bundled Mouse looks very cheap

A tablet by any other name...
After having a bad initial experience with the new Wacom Fun, and Pen and Touch (insufficient customer support, mediocre Touch functionality) I decided to look around at other graphics tablets.
The VisTablet is attractively designed and priced. Very large with a nice set of macro/programmable keys, too. However, I noticed it is nearly identical to several other brands' products, like Genius, Medion, Tooya PenPower, Aiptek, and Adesso, among others. An Ebay seller even has the same tablet for about $80. Turns out they're all manufactured by a company named Waltop. Essentially, they're just the same product rebranded. Given this, I decided to buy the tablet with the best price and warranty. That would be the VisTablet. The company seems to want to differentiate itself with customer service. Well, hooray for that. Problem is, I wrote them with a couple of questions, via their website and the emails were returned as non-deliverable. What's with that? So, caveat emptor: VisTablet may either be out-of-business or a skeevy operation that's all marketing hype and nothing else.
I may just stick with Monoprice. They've been the best so-far.
UPDATE: I eventually did receive a reply from VisTablet and they indeed are very much in business. (They really need to finish their new website; it's been "under construction" for weeks.) Their customer service person was out of the office for a few days and apologized for the delay. She was very responsive to my emails once back at work. Unfortunately, the tablet I received was either damaged or doesn't work with Mac OS 10.6--although their new drivers are supposed to be bug-free. The customer service person was extremely nice and offered to send me a replacement immediately. They tested the replacement tablet at the VisTablet offices so I'm assured it's 100% operational. I'll post another update when the replacement tablet arrives. What I can tell you so far is their customer service really is excellent, despite my initial reservations.
A good value
I didn't purchase this product expecting it to perform equal to a higher priced product. I bought this product expecting to improve on my current, several year old and very small Wacom Graphire tablet. I found myself constantly drawing off the edge of my little tablet and knew from the day I purchased it that I needed something bigger. Finally, there is the VisTablet which was the minimum size that I needed and well within my budget. I had noted that many of the reviews were not all that favorable, but I figured it couldn't be any worse than my existing tablet. It is not. It is of a quality similar to my old graphire. It jumps a bit at times or gets 'stuck' when drawing, but less than my old graphire. The pressure sensitivity is as good as I need (and quite a bit better than what I am used to).
Installation was quick and easy. I installed the battery in the pen, installed the software and drivers, did the required reboot and plugged in my tablet. It works fine on my Vista system and with the software I have used it with (mostly Adobe products). The pen feels a bit heavy at first, but I quickly adjusted to the weight of it. It's also nice that is uses a AAA battery instead of those disk (watch) style batteries. AAA I have around the house, those other ones I always had to make special trips to purchase.
All in all, if you do not have a graphics tablet (or are using an outdated model) and have a tight budget, then, from my experience, this product seems to give good value for the price. And it beats trying to do graphics work with a mouse!
Support
This is a great product to compete with Wacom tablets. For the price, it can't be beaten. The 24 customizable hotkeys are great, especially since they don't require you to use your other hand. My friends that use their Wacom tablets keep one hand on their keyboard to do shortcuts instead of using their tablets. It's also very light and thin and looks sleek. The pen is weird, battery operated, but it does the job. It feels a bit plastic and fragile, unlike Wacom counterparts.
The only complaints I have are about the drivers. The drivers are very simple and look ancient. They function fairly well, however the interface for setting hotkeys and macros are not very intuitive. This is fine for me though, since it's a one time thing usually to set the hotkeys, however this could be complicated for some users. Also, the driver that came on the disk were outdated, but thats usual. On the website I downloaded their latest driver, however I discovered that it didn't work for 64 bit Windows 7. I then contacted customer support, who were very helpful in getting me a test build of their Windows 7 64 bit drivers. These work pretty well, although the interface is the same. They're supposedly working on a new website in which they will have the Windows 7 driver listed, however at the moment they are still using their old website without the Windows 7 driver. To get it you need to contact their support desk and ask for it.
I do hope that they polish their whole presentation and can keep more up to date with the latest operating systems. With these revisions, I would be more than happy to recommend this tablet over a Wacom any day.
A new chapter in an artistic family
When in school I had dreams of becoming a professional artist, I had a pretty good skill set, I tutored all through High School, but wasn't really GREAT, just pretty good.
Eventually an industrial accident ended that dream for ever.
I did however marry a professional artist, who is all talent, she can't tell you how she does anything, but she can do anything. Consequentially, all our kids have quite a bit of the gift, and my youngest boy, who is a junior in High School and never showed a lot of interest or taken a class in art, has begun doing amazing cartoons, and scanning them into the computer and painting them with a mouse and "windows paint". So guess what he got for Christmas?
He works with an HP DV9000 17" laptop running Vista Premere and it was plug and play as advertised. He has been exploring this tool along with Magna Studio 4 almost non stop and is very happy with it!The tablet itself is large which seems better for the uninitiated than small, which I guess is counterintuitive for pricing, but as stated elsewhere in reviews a mature artist works in small hand movements, although my sweetheart prefers to work in mural size work, so there you go.
for the upcoming artist
This has been purchased for our daughter who is 11 and loves to draw..my husband installed and tried it out..we believe it will be of great help to our daughter who will open it for herself on Christmas..I believe she will get great use out of this product and hopefully will help her become an even better artist.

Nice tablet
No major issues. The pen sensativity & tracking was a bit wonky, but once I downloaded & installed the driver for Win 7(64) the problem was resolved. Drawing on a tablet in GIMP and Photoshop takes some getting use to, but I am satisfied with my purchase.
Not good so far...
So, decided to get my first tablet. Did not want to go for anything too expensive because im really just an amateur photographer and wanted to try the experience before actually putting money on it...
Well, I have to say im not happy at all so far. And im bummed by the fact that it did not really bring any real
instructions.
I mean, I hope to get better at using it after a while, I have only been using it for 1 day.
A)The pen needs A LOT of pressure to work.
B)The right click buttons dont seem to do anything
C)The hole panning thing with the pen only ends up selecting the things that im trying to pan above :s
D)This tablet is not portable AT ALL, I mean, I was actually expecting only the 6x10 but it has a frame of more than
one inch on every side and on the bottom it has almost two, so its truly a 12x10.
E)The hole writing thing is a mess and does not understand anything and the eraser does not work.
On the up sides, it looks nice :/ although the pen does feel cheap
I dont know, will update my review in a week or so, but so far, i do not recommend this to anyone, just put a little
extra money and get one of the better brands.
Better than a cheap tablet it is a pleasure to use
Hope everyone has a chance to see this tablet.
I have used other tablets over the years and they have come a long way in clean easy to use tools.
pretty decent
Overall the tablet is decent.
Pros: Large writing area + hotkeys. Works in windows xp, vista and 7. Also works in Ubuntu Linux.
Cons: Cable does not detach from tablet. You need XP tablet, vista or 7 in order to use inking in Microsoft Office. The pen kind of feels like a toy, pretty cheap plastic. Only comes with win xp and vista hotkey inserts. Hotkeys don't work in linux out of the box.
pretty good
Pretty content with this pen pad. Never used one before. There is a slight lag compared to a mouse, but that seems to be expected. I had a little difficulty with getting the pressure to work properly with Photoshop, but I researched that and it seems all pen pads have problems with it. The solutions was to open Photoshop with the pen ped. No problems after that. I only worry about the cord connected to the pen pad if it gets bent hard or dropped on. I love that it's very thin and works great with my laptop.

Art
We bought this for our 11 year old daughter who really enjoys drawing. She is quite talented at drawing herself, and likes to trace pictures too. Once set up, she really enjoyed using this. I realize she will not use all the features yet, but I hope this product will last her for many many years. It has many features and is easy to use.
good buy
Not a Wacom but suits my needs. A slight delay in pen response but adjustment by me was easy.
Does exactly what it says it does.
This tablet as described by others before me performs as it should. the control and pressure levels have worked wonderfully and I have no complaints about its functionality. There is however a point that I cant seem to get around. The macros that come programed into it already don't seem to be changeable. while they are fine the way they are I suppose, the symbols on the top don't match up to what they actually do, a minor inconvenience I suppose but one none the less.
LOVE IT
I have zero complains about this graphics pad. It work wonderfully with both PhotoShop and GIMP, and is a fun replacement for my mouse. I have already recommended it to 2 friends. Price 10. Usability 10. Fun 11!
NOT MAC FRIENDLY
If you are running on a Mac, do not buy this product. It claims to be Mac Compatible, but I assure you from experience...you will have nothing but trouble trying to get everything working on the mac. You also will probably never successfully reach anyone for answers at Addesso. They do not stick to their "business hours." Their website claims to have online chat tech support, but they are NEVER online. Tried sending several emails and got no responses. I uninstalled the drivers it came with and tried to reinstall them to see if that would solve my problems, but once I uninstalled it, it would not let me reinstall it. I believe this is because the uninstall left misc. files on my HD. Who knows where they are...

It works!
I just followed the instructions and then plugged it into the computer and clicked on the convert option and what I had written in script was converted to typewritten.
I was then able to save the document in Word. I was pleased.
No Support for frozen pad
I had to return this product before I ever got to use it properly because Acecad has zero support. There is no phone number in the booklet and the website printed on the booklet is under construction. The pad froze after connecting and downloading my first pages to my computer. After disconnecting from the computer, it would not recognize any writing and would not change pages. It would not power off, either, until I removed the batteries.
Luckily the return is fairly easy at Amazon, but I am disappointed not to be able to use the product.
Good product
Bought this product couple of weeks ago and it is easy to use and makes note taking fun-filled for me
Don't hesitate. You need it.
Don't hesitate. You need it.
I knew this item was going to be huge, as soon as I used it. It was a bigger "aha" than the "aha" when I first met a computer. And I'm a computer kind of guy. Computers and I go back to 1979.
A bit over the top, you say. Well, hear me out.
First, what does it do. It records what you write down. Impressive, eh? Well yes, actually. Do you take notes at a meetings? Consider them recorded. Do you like to sketch sailboats by the seashore? Recorded. If everything you write down is recorded, it changes your whole attitude to writing things down. Think about it. Everything you write down is automatically recorded so you can come back to it in fifty years, if you're still around. At the very least, you may want to improve your handwriting.
What else does it do? It transmits your writing as you write. Imagine if you will that you're an architect. You want to talk to your boss on the project about a cool new idea. Hold that thought. You call up said boss and in a moment she sees what you see, sketched on the digimemo. Intriguing, eh?
That's actually it. That's all you need to know. It records what you write and lets other people see what you are writing. The simplicity is what gives away the importance. If 14 words is all it takes to explain why you need it, then it's genuinely new and genuinely important.
Nuts and bolts. The thing is about the size of a clipboard, but thicker. It weighs about as much as a solid paperback book. Or maybe three clipboards. Writing on it feels like writing on paper, because it _is_ writing on paper. Could it be more perfect? Yes. It could have a doodad that keep the pen from getting lost. It could link without a wire to the computer. (And the mobile phone. Anybody from Google listening?) The next-page button could be big or be green so I wouldn't have to keep squinting to tell it apart from the other buttons. Whatever they do.
Does the job
I purchased this a week ago and am using it every day since in my job. Installation went well with no hitches in Vista. As a digital memo taker it works very well. My issues are with the general use instructions and user interface. I think these could be much better to help the user get the transfer of doc from the tablet to the PC.
Takes some getting used to. Instructions are incomplete. I set the date/time according to the instructions. They say a 24hr mode is available. The tablet automatically comes up in the 24hr mode but there are no instructions on how to make it 12hr. Also for some strange reason when I went out of set up the 24hr mode was 12 hours out of sync so I needed to go back in and reset the clock 12hr ahead to get the proper readout on the display in normal mode
The tablet does not accept 8.5 X 11 inch tablets very well. It needs to have a length of 11 and 13/16". I am taping in a piece of plastic to hold my tablets into place so the digital portion doesn't get confused by the movement.
The pen is ok. I am used to using a much higher quality writing instrument so it is taking some getting used to. The cap is loose so I need to take extra care so I don't lose the pen. A really nice suggestion for ACECAD would be to incorporate a pen holder into the tablet to keep the 2 items together.
Don't buy the OCR software - it is useless. I'll review it separately. I would really like to return it but since I opened it - it is not returnable. Just beware if you are thinking about it. I am purchasing another OCR to see if it can take these files and do a better job.
Overall I am pleased with the device. Just need to be patient enough to work through the issues.

Bamboo Fun
I like the product, but wish there were some indication that a newer version of it was available. It would have been good to purchase the latest version which is a touch pad versus stylus. Had to contact the customer service for the item to install and download from a website versus using the CD's provided which was unusual since we have a brand new computer. In the end it has been a great product.
Excellent first tablet
This is my first tablet, so I can't really compare it to others, but it's worked great for almost everything I've tried it with. The Corel painter software it comes with is actually really fun, and shows off the tablet's capabilities nicely. It works well in zbrush, and the pressure sensitivity and accuracy make an indescribable difference in modeling and sculpting. Web browsing is a bit more finicky (clicking and double clicking really take some getting used to). Overall, it took me three or four hours of use to be able to use it effectively, but now that I can it's very easy and efficient. It's nice that both the eraser and the pen tip are pressure sensitive. The texture of the work area takes some getting used to as well; for the first while it felt like I was in danger of scratching it by pressing too hard, but it's turned out to be pretty durable. Definitely recommended for anyone into digital art or computer graphics! Also, the size is perfect for my needs, although it could be a bit smaller without interfering too much.
Great but...
This is a fantastic product you will love it, BUT the price is a total rip off, you can get it for $199 if you buy it from the manufacturer or bestbuy. Don't waist your money please.
Bamboo Fun really is!
This product is easy to set up and use right out of the box. The software that came with it makes "painting pictures" really fun and easy. The software was worth the price of the tablet itself. I would put myself in the catagory of advanced amature. The pen and tablet work very well with a great deal of control over your brushes. The paintings that you can make from pictures make great gifts. I highly recommend this product.
great product
I bought this for my wife and she loves it. It has made her photo editing a breeze
