Great product
Just like NIS 2009, this year's NIS is light on the resources (I'm running this on a 2 year old XPS laptop). So I really don't know what all the bad reviews are all about. Bought this for $35 at amazon then the price went up to $45. Installed and activated in less than 5 min. Works great. This is one of the top products in its class.

Excellent product
Lightweight, fast, effective. Truly excellent PC protection. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is on one of my PCs I'm getting too many cookie deletion reports which is a little annoying. There is probably a setting to turn this off. I haven't researched this yet.

Best Anti-Virus
Norton Internet Security is the best anti-virus. It keeps your PC safe while on the internet and receiving eMail. Very easy to install and setup. I have been using Norton for many years and will continue to do so.

Repeatedly caused my computer to stall
I had a terrible experience with this Norton product. It repeatedly caused my computer to get hung up while doing routine tasks (e.g., downloading a photo from a blog). My computer has plenty of resources (2.8 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP) and I don't run complex applications or a lot of applications at the same time. Nevertheless, my computer repeatedly stalled and never recovered. I couldn't even Ctrl-Alt-Del my way out of the problem; I had to shut down the machine every time. I was able to replicate the problem several times. And when I un-installed Norton, the problem went away.

I used the product for less than a month and I can't get a refund. What a waste. I will not buy a Norton product again. At the suggestion of a friend, I'm now using AVG Free (a free anti-virus product available at CNET, among other sites) along with my Windows XP firewall. We'll see how that works.

Virus in the installation files!
I just tried to install the Internet Kit and the installer prompts to download files from the Mobi web site. When that was done, I ran the executable to install the files and found it to be infected with a virus from my scanner. Tried it again on a test pc with another virus scanner just to be sure it wasn't a false positive and sure enough, it is infected.

I like it
I like this kit.
I tried to install it on a dedicated laptop later and had license issues, so install it on the computer you will use.
But it worked through firewalls and all.
A few years ago I bought a wireless webcam and could not view it from outside.
This one works with no "issues".
You get 2 hours a month of internet free and I just signed up for the unlimited.
Its also password protected and works on the iphone (video) and blackberry (photos only) too.

Wireless Internet kit for MOBI CAM
I do like this product. Did not dissapoint me. I have only one cam but after seeing through the internet kit I'm thinking to buy another cam because it looks perfect even in the dark.

Poor picture! Cuts out occasionally to completely black
The picture is poor on the handheld device to say the least. When I connected to my 60" TV it was not much better and it was wavy! I bought this camera to use in my toddler's room at night. The night vision is awful. Can't see my son 10 feet from the camera!

The box misleads buyer into thinking you are buying a wonderful surveillance system that has motion detection that will text message you! You can view your child from your BlackBerry! Or you can monitor your children at home from your work computer! NO WHERE ON THE BOX DOES IT STATE THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR THESE FEATURES AND MUCH MORE!!

At night you can turn off the video monitor and just have sound. However there are two green lights on the front that never go off and light up my entire bedroom! I have quit using this system and will never buy another mobicam product. Huge waste of money!

Wasted My Money!
I bought this camera mainly because it had the internet feature so I could share my toddler's room with my out-of-town family.

The Bad:

1. The internet connection feels like a rip off. You only get TWO hours of monitoring per MONTH unless you want to pay $9.95/month! If I buy an internet hookup, I expect to be able to watch my monitor any time or have my family be able to watch any time as well.

2. The internet connection is awkward. You have to hook up the physical monitor to a computer constantly with a bunch of wires & adapters (see below). So, at night (when I actually use the monitor), I have a choice of having the monitor hooked up to my computer OR being able to watch the monitor next to my bed. Who wants a computer running next to their bed all the time with a tangled mess of wires? See below.

3. Hookup consists of a USB to your computer, going to some adapter unit which goes to stereo & video RCA jacks as well as an S-video, which then goes to an 1/8" jack which finally hooks into the monitor. This is not just a USB cable like it says! This is ridiculously awkward.

4. Software is cheap! You have to install drivers, reboot, hook up the camera, install the software, etc., etc. It took a couple of hours to get this up & running, which is pretty bad in a plug & play world!

5. Your monitor hooks up to your computer which broadcasts your monitor to their website. Granted, they make you set up a website & password to make you feel secure about it, but you cannot control anything other than if you have the camera hooked up or not (& of course who you give the website & password to).

Overall, I am sorely disappointed that I got the internet hookup. I wish I had gotten the extra camera instead for the same price.

This software is really awesome! The screen appears daunting but even without reading the documentation, it's pretty much self explanatory unless and until one wants to get into decibels etc.

The range of voices is pretty much limitless. There is a hefty number of pre-formatted voices and even those can be modified if wanted and saved under a different name.

This software is a lot of fun and I'm sure there are application for it I've not even dreamed of. It is a GREAT addition to my arsenal.

The problems I encountered were NOT RELATED to the software but rather to my configuration. The support team responded in a very timely manner and the problem was resolved quickly.

Practical advice for web applications design in the real world
This is a terrific book on what it takes to make web applications really work (both for users and for the businesses that create them). Managers of web design projects should read this book for its eminently practical advice on documentation, workflow, and pitfalls to avoid. Highly recommended.

Excellent book teaching nontrivial material.
It's not easy to build a really good online community website. There are a lot of things to think about, and many of them have little or nothing to do with technical programming skills.

Buy this book, read it, step through it, and learn from some of the best teachers on the subject. And then when you've learned what they have to say here, take your new-found skills and build your own online community site. Using the methods in this book, your web sites can be more useful, successful, and profitable.

Specific examples, great ideas
This book is helpful for programmers as well as people who work more generally with technology. I'm using very specific, technical information from the "Adding Mobile Users to Your Community" chapter for a web application I'm building, while using concepts from the chapter on discussion forums for a research project on how discussion tools are used at my university. If you build web applications, or work with people who do, I highly recommend this book.

Useful textbook for web application makers.
If you're new to building web applications and want a balanced perspective on the engineering challenges involved -- from understanding user needs to data modelling to scaling gracefully -- this book is a great place to start. It's mostly language-agnostic, so it'll be a good starting point for a few years but won't update you on the latest technology. Nevertheless, I know very few web developers who wouldn't learn something important from a careful reading of this book.

Where this book really shines is as a bridge from the world of college Computer Science to the world of actually building applications people use. This transition encompasses understanding your users, making flexibile designs, considering security, aesthetics, and a host of other issues one does not actually learn in a normal college CS curriculum. Thanks to its project focus, this book (and the course curriculum it implies) seeds an awareness of these many issues that can later be developed through experience. Other "software engineering" books over-emphasize theories, but this one will actually press you to get stuff built.

Could not download postage rates
Could not get scale working because we could not download postage rates to the scale at least so far. The scale requires an included RJ-11 to female serial connector to download postage rates and we tried the included cable and two others on two different PCs. The fact that they require, in 2010, an RJ-11 to Serial Port is bewildering. Pelouze really didn't want to help us and discouraged us from sending the scale back to them so we are now sending back to their distributor. We wasted at least 4 man-hours on this so far.

HORRIBLE!
The scale worked fine for me until the postal rates changed and I needed to download the new rates. The only adapter that comes with this scale connects to a serial port and if your PC is less than 5 years old, chances are it doesn't have a serial port. NO big deal -- just get a serial-to-usb adapter, right? WRONG! I first tried a Belkin adapter and after finding out that didn't work, I called their support team. They told me that they know Belkins don't work, "just use any other adapter." Okay, so I ordered a USBGear serial-to-usb adapter (paid for postage and waited for that to arrive) and it STILL didn't work. When I called support again (during their LIMITED support hours, I might add -- this is no 24/7 operation) they told me that they don't know which adapters work and which don't..."I'm sorry ma'am, you just need to keep trying until you find one that works." Seriously? That's their solution? Um...NO THANKS!! An unbelievably frustrating experience and the last Pelouze and Dyno product I will ever buy. Truly, how hard can it be for their support team to ask people that call in which adapter they're using and keep a list of ones they can recommend to customers in my situation?? UGH!

Good scale but has a couple of limitations
I needed a scale to calculate postage in a location where it could not be connected to a PC. For the price this seemed a good choice.

However, the scale is somewhat slow resetting to zero after a postage calculation. It does NOT calculate USPS Express mail rates. It also does NOT calculate USPS First Class Flat rates for oversize envelopes (larger than 6-1/8" x 11-1/2"). Since these are common mailings for most businesses, these rates should be available.

In spite of these limitations it has been useful to us. We just had to put up a chart next to the scale for the missing postage rates.

I strongly suggest you read this before buying a Pelouze scale

I purchased the PS20DL for $103.00 in December of 2004. I used it for weighing gift packages to determine postage that I then ship to family and friends for birthday's and other holidays. It was never used for commercial purposes. For 18 months, I was very pleased with the scale.

In July, 2006, just 18 months from the date of purchase, the unit failed. About 3 minutes after turning it on, the LCD display goes blank, then shows strange characters and a loud, high pitched whistle can be heard coming from the base of the unit. I'm unable to weigh anything and the only way to turn it off is to remove the battery. I tried a new battery, and it still fails.

I contacted Pelouze customer support and Heidi Brannigan, of Pelouze Office Products, told me "This unit will need to be repaired. The warranty is one year from original date of purchase. We do not repair these units out of warranty." Since the unit is out of warranty, I asked Heidi if she at least knew what the problem was and if she could recommend a repair facility. Here's her response: "I am not sure what exactly is wrong with the unit. As I stated we do not repair this unit out of warranty nor do we know of any outside repair facilities."

I'm not happy that this scale only lasted 18 months, and that Pelouze offers no means of repair or support after 1 year. To them, $103 is disposable. To me, $103 is a lot of money.

Unfortunately the warranty is only 1 year from the date of purchase but most scales last much longer then 18 months. With all the recent changes in postal regulations I would suggest the Pelouze 10 lb. USB scale instead of the PS20DL. It comes with free software you can run from your computer giving you more rating options.

I appreciate the suggestion on a different scale, but the point of my question was missed.
The question was and is - after the warranty expires, will Pelouze repair, at the customers expense, a scale that is sent for repairs? The writer of the review that I sent with my original question indicated that Pelouze refused to repair the out of warrenty scale even though she was willing to pay for the repair. Pelouze also refused to tell her where she could take the scale to be repaired by someone else. I find that lack of customer concern - well, concerning.

Pleased, But ...
I received this scale as a gift in July, 2007, and was quite surprised to find that it comes with an old RS232 adapter to download the various postal rates from the internet, rather than a USB cable (my computer doesn't even have a port for an RS232). At this point in time, that adapter is antiquated. For a scale in this price range, I should not have to purchase a USB adapter to make the main features (postal rates) functional.
