great mouse
This mouse does the job. It's reasonably comfortable and scrolls nicely. The buttons click, the cursor moves - it does everything one needs a mouse to do. I got it to use primarily with the extra laptop that's almost ten years old, and despite the age difference, the mouse gets along with the laptop beautifully. I tried it out with a newer unit, and it worked with that just as easily. No fuss, no muss.

This mouse feels so lightweight that it's hard to take it seriously (that's why only four stars). When I first picked it up, I wondered if the manufacturer had forgotten to put in its innards. If I ever have to travel with it, though, I'll probably be very grateful.

So this is a great mouse, and if you don't need fifteen buttons, I heartily recommend this one.

Wireless Ergonomic Mouse Large
3M This mouse is clinically proven to alleviate pain and discomfort of repetitive stress injuries in the hand, wrist or arm associated with the use of traditional mice—which can pronate the forearm and wrist and typically presses the wrist and carpal tunnel area against the desk. The 3M Ergonomic Mouse has earned an Ease-of-Use Commendation from the Arthritis Foundation for its patented, vertical grip design that keeps your hand and wrist at a neutral angle, while the mouse works as a regular optical mouse. Grip the handle and rest your hand on the base. Use your thumb to left and right click. Optical sensor, wireless, USB compatible plug and play. Soft-touch painted surfaces for added comfort. For right-handed use. 2 year warranty.

This mouse helped heal my Repetitive Strain Injury
I put off writing this review until I had adequate time to use this mouse in all different situations. I purchased this mouse in October 2009. I had developed a very painful Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)in my right hand and arm from heavy mouse use; in particular the constant use of the roller wheel and the click-click-clicking of the mouse buttons. I am a medical librarian and use my computer all day for long stretches of time. However, I don't play video games though that require much more clicking than office work.

I considered and tested quite a few "ergonomic" mice. Most of them merely changed the user's hand position, but still required clicking buttons with the index and middle fingers.

I am mostly pleased with the mouse, and I will address specific features, both good and bad, in hopes that this will help someone else with a similar condition.

Comfort - 5 stars - Compared to other ergonomic mice I have tried this one is very comfortable for extended use. Though it looks like a joystick, the handle doesn't move. When grasping the mouse handle the user's hand is at about a 45 degree angle. Left and right button clicking (for Windows users) is accomplished with the user's thumb on a rocker button at the top of the handle. The thumb is much stronger and has more leverage for short movements than the other fingers, and the movement of the thumb is very small. I have only encountered thumb pain after performing tasks that involved constant clicking for over an hour. If the user takes short breaks (which is recommended for ANY repetitive task) then I have had no problems.

Cursor movement is accomplished by moving the mouse with the entire hand and forearm instead of flexing the wrist back and forth. Since much larger muscles are used in this movement they tire less quickly and practically no stain is put on the more vulnerable parts of the fingers, hand and wrist. I was able to use this mouse virtually pain free from the beginning.

Ease of use -- 4 stars - By ease of use I mean how troublesome (or not) is this mouse to use compared with the standard mouse. I have to grade it down a bit here due to several of what I consider to be design flaws.

Most wireless mice that I have used include a small cradle or slot to store the antenna (the small part that plugs into a USB port on your computer) when not using the mouse. Typically this also turns the mouse off. This mouse does not have that feature which can mean (if you're like me) losing the antenna occasionally since there is no convenient place to store it. The USB plug of the antenna does not come with a cap. I finally glued a small piece of Velcro (the fuzzy part) on the top of the thumb side of the base, and two pieces of Velcro (the hooks part) to the underside of the antenna and the cap (which I had to provide). I attach the cap to the Velcro when I am using the mouse. This works fairly well, though it's not pretty.

The only way to turn the mouse off is by an on/off switch on the bottom. If you forget, which I often do, the mouse will stay on and constantly seek a surface which runs down the battery.

There is no roller wheel. Instead there is a large button on the front of the handle where the user's hand wraps around. The button is operated by gently squeezing the button usually with the third and fourth fingers. This activates (again in Windows) the page scroll feature which then allows the user to scroll the screen up and down by moving the mouse back and forth. This is a bit clumsy, but since using a roller wheel partially lead to my RSI, I don't miss it.
It took me a while to get used to this mouse and to develop the same precision I have with a regular mouse.

Battery life -- 5 stars - The unit takes two AAA batteries. So far, even when forgetting to turn it off, I have found the battery life to be as good as, or better than most wireless mice I have used.

Signal strength - 4 stars - I have not had the problem with signal strength that some of the other reviewers have. Normally the mouse and antenna are within 1-2 feet of each other and I have had no problems with an intermittent signal. On a few occasions I have had my laptop on the floor about 4 feet from me while sitting in a chair. I can usually still control the cursor, though clicking sometimes does not work as well. The only time I have had a real problem is when the batteries begin to lose power, and the signal strength lessens until it's obvious that new ones are needed.

Durability -- 5 stars - Again, I have not had the problems other reviewers have had. I have dropped this mouse several times (by accident, not design) from a height or about 3-4 feet on to an uncarpeted floor and have seen no cracks or problems afterward. I have not had the buttons break.

Conclusions - I would purchase this mouse again, but I might consider buying the "wired" version because of the antenna storage issues. I credit this mouse for playing a significant role in helping my RSI to heal. I can immediately tell the difference if I have to use a standard mouse for even a shirt time.

I am happy to answer any questions (leave a comment on this review) that anyone has.
Great Mouse but very weak
I had used this type of mouse in the past, now I decided to buy due that the wrist pain its reduced. I read a previous post from a customer about the click button being too weak... Now guess.... happened the same to me! I can't believe it. with just 1 week of "gentle" clicking :) ... Now i need to return the part, this mouse is no longer usable (hardly) Amazon Request me to send it back and I need to pay $25 bucks for shipping and handling from/to Latin America... I guess I need my money back. Liked this mouse but need to say that quality is not the best on this product...
hard to get used to
I actually sent mine back because it was too hard to get used to. Also, I would recommend the wired one as opposed to the wireless one, because you would have to always remember to charge the batteries or replace them. I think the product is good in general, but didn't work for me.
would be wonderful if the wireless connection worked
I love my regular 3M wired ergonomic mouse (3M Ergonomic Mouse SMALL/MEDIUM), but because it's a bit of a pain to use a mouse that is tethered to the computer, I bought this wireless version and gave it a whirl. On the positive side, the wireless ergonomic mouse itself is a joy to use -- comfy in the hand, good quality, everything you'd expect from 3M. But the mouse comes with a fatal flaw. The mouse and the computer dongle -- the receiver that plugs into your computer -- just don't communicate very well. Actually, they communicate rather poorly. They keep dropping events, at the rate of several each second. This means that you'll be moving the cursor across the screen, and suddenly the cursor will freeze; or you'll try clicking the mouse button, and nothing will happen. It is truly frustrating to try to use a mouse that works, or doesn't work, essentially at random. I've tried reducing the distance between the mouse and the dongle to just a few inches, but the behavior persists, so I have to assume that it's a problem with the electronics and not with some local radio interference. A real shame because otherwise the mouse is fantastic. But the randomly-works-at-times behavior is sufficiently annoying that I must reluctantly recommend against buying the wireless 3M mouse, and point you instead back to the regular wired mouse, which is a great product.
Form over function...
I bought this mouse because i've been having a lot of pain. I work in spreadsheets and am using the mouse all day every day.

The product is comfortable but it takes me twice as long to get my work done. Within 2 weeks of owning the product, the buttons started giving out on me. It now takes 3-4 clicks to ACTUALLY click.

The lack of a scroll wheel also destroys this product. The scroll "button" is on the joystick itself and its way too easy to click that when you don't want to.

POOR POOR design...I expect way more from a company like 3M. I'm extremely disappointed with it. I've thrown it in the garbage and gone back to my regular mouse. My next ergo mouse will not be made by 3M.

Perfect for presentations
I use this mouse in my classroom because it works better to advance slides than the projector remote. It works at a greater distance (all the way across the room) and is not affected by interference between the mouse and receiver. I can stop and set it on a desk and use it as a regular mouse to point things out which I can't do with the projector remote. I've been through many mice looking for the best one for this use, and this one is the best.
Dead dongle is irreplaceable
I bought this mouse and the dongle died after 13 months, out of warranty. An exchange of e-mails with Verbatim's customer service department finally convinced me that it was staffed with people who couldn't understand English but rather sent back stock replies to key words that they could recognize. A USB Bluetooth dongle can be had for 99 cents (shipping included) but a replacement USB dongle for this mouse could only be had by purchasing a new mouse. I know we live in a throw-away society but this is ridiculous. The mouse itself did work perfectly up to the death of the dongle.
Save your money
I was drawn to this mouse because of it's small USB receiver and overall compact size. It was perfect for my laptop.

It worked great for about two months, and then the scroll wheel stopped working. Changing the batteries and/or resetting the device didn't work. Now it's a paperweight.

Other reviewers have also had it die after only a few months, so avoid this mouse.
Near-perfect!
I bought the first one of these in February to use with my netbook. I love it! It is small enough, and large enough. I was using a corded, tiny, Targus mouse, and it broke, so I wanted to go wireless. Found this somewhere else on sale. I was impressed enough that when I bought my daughter a laptop for her birthday, I also bought her one of these from Amazon. I like everything about it - the dongle goes into the underside and also functions as an on-off switch to save battery life when not in use. On the computer, the dongle is so small it is out of the way no matter which port I use it in. The mouse fires right up, and I like the "action" on it. I don't have to use a lot of motion to get it where I want it onscreen. the construction seems solid, everything works right out of the box (which is good, as my netbook has no cd port for installing anything!) Am very HAPPY with this mouse, and strongly recommend it!
WORKS GREAT, BUT NEEDS OFF BUTTON
I love the size of the Verbatim 96781 Nano Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse - Black, the low-profile dongle is quite nice, and the mouse works really well.

My only complaint is the lack of an off switch. Some reviewers have said that the mouse goes to sleep while they are using it, and others that it slumbers after about 10 minutes. I have never caught it napping. If it is sleeping, then it is doing so with its red optical eye open! When I wake up in the morning, the thing is still on.

As far as I can tell, you have to unplug the dongle from the computer and put it back into its storage compartment in the mouse if you want to turn it off. It is incredibly annoying, so I just leave it on all of the time. The battery life is actually pretty good, considering that I never turn it off. It is such a waste, though. I use rechargeables and have replaced the batteries in the mouse a couple of times over the last few months. I probably would not have had to replace them at all if it had been designed better.

I had to get a wireless mouse for my old desktop, but if you can do Bluetooth on your computer, I would recommend the Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000 instead.

Easy to install
I installed the software on my notebook (XP is the OS) an in minutes had the mouse running without a glitch. You just plug the nano reciever into a usb port, put the batteries in the mouse and then turn it on and click a little button to connect.

It's not as comfortable as a full-sized ergonomic mouse or the gaming mouse I usually use, but it's much better than using the touchpad on a notebook computer. I also like it better than the small corded notebook mouse I used to use, because it's easier to pack up and travel with and it's slightly bigger and more comfortable to use.

If you pop out the riser, there is a little slot that you can store the nano receiver in. I was glad to see this, because my first thought when I opened the box was that I would lose the little receiver.
It's o.k.
Just a quick review. I found this mouse to be o.k. The reception from the laptop was good, especially compared to other wireless mice that I have used. Ergonomically, even with the built in "riser" I simply didn't like the feel of the mouse. I know it's a "travel mouse", but I thought it was a little too small. It didn't seem like a very sturdy piece of equipment.

The tiny USB receiver is very nice, and I like that there's a compartment in the mouse to store it. Unfortunately the receiver is so small that 1) it's can be difficult to unplug from your laptop depending on how/where the port is set up and 2) I lost the tiny receiver within 3 weeks rendering the mouse useless. Sometimes practicality sacrificed for convenience isn't a good thing. I still haven't found that receiver, but I know it's in my apartment somewhere...
Not bad mouse
Not bad. Easy to use, just plug in. But it's smaller than I thought. This one is amazon.com replaced for me, because the first one's scroll had big problem. The scroll of this one is also tight than any one I have ever used. I hope it will be OK. Overall, still a good wireless mouse compared to its price ($12).
Great Functional, Adjustable, Wireless Laser Mouse
We love this wireless mouse! It is great for home and for travel! It is compact and easy to cary as it has a very small usb connector that is actually stored within it. The usb connector is tiny so that it never gets in the way while using the laptop. It does not stick out like many others do. Also the highth of the mouse is adjustable by one notch so it actually sits in the cup of your palm like it should. It also connected right away with our computors. Great product!
We are going to buy a second one.
Verbatim Wireless mouse
The mouse works well. The ability to raise and lower the mouse also adds improved usability. I like the location for storing the receiving unit in the mouse for transporting. The unit is small and could be easily lost. The small size of the receiver also reduces the possibility of damage while plugged into the notebook.

Very nice
I use 3D Connexion, Standard Edition, with Google Earth, usually in conjunction with the regular mouse. It's a lot handier than the mouse-driven controls alone. I use my left hand, and although I'm right-handed, the device works smoothly and easily.
Space Navigator
Superfast delivery. Outstanding product; I don't know how I got by without it. For CAD and graphics, it's like going from the horse and buggy to a Ferrari. 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator SE (Standard Edition) 3D Navigation Device USB ( 3DX-700028 )
cool stuff, a little wild at first
I'm still on the learning curve, this tool is seamlessly intuitive to use with google earth, but in 3d studio max it takes a bit of tweaking on the settings and a bit of practice and skill to get it working just fine

I downloaded the latest driver from the website, but I had a little problem with the control panel, I tried to open it the normal way, but no dice, instead, when you press one of the side buttons, a configuration tool appears, it wasn't mentioned in the instruction manual, so I spent a good amount of time fooling around trying to get the control panel to work

it has a decent weight, it doesn't move around your desktop

there are two things that bother me, I use a cintiq as second display, and when I'm working on it and want to tweak the settings, the configuration window always appears on the left display, so I have to press a button on the cintiq to switch displays, drag the window to the left and switch back again, every time I want to change something, it's annoying

And the real reason this didn't get a 5 star review:

NO SUPPORT FOR MUDBOX? WTF? seriously WTF??
Works well but . . .
It worked as advertised once I downloaded the latest driver. The one in the box did not perform on Solidworks 2010. I'm surprised by the ease of use, it's compactness, and it's weight. It stays where I put it. For my needs, a very nice product.
A Must Have for CAD Designers
I you are a CAD designer & have not tried any of the 3Dconnexion products...what are you waiting for. I migrated from a SpaceBall 4000 to the SpaceNagigator & love it. I opted for the SpaceNavigator because I didn't use the bottons on my SpaceBall, so why spend the extra money for features I wouldn't use. The SpaceNavigator handles a little differently than the SpaceBall, but I got used to it pretty quickly. If you want to increase productivity & flexibility while designing you need a 3D mouse. They take a bit to get used to, but you can adjust the sensitivity of the puck until you get used to it & then gradually increase it until it fits your style.

The SpaceNavigator is very heavy & stays put during use. I also like the small footprint so it gives me more room on my desk top. What more can I say, except this is a must have for every CAD designer.

I love this mouse
The Kensington Ci65m Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse has served me well for over a year.

The range is not exceptional; when I first got the mouse, I plugged the wireless receiver into my desktop CPU, about four feet from my mouse pad. I had intermittent problems until I relocated the receiver to the back of my LCD monitor which, luckily, had to free USB ports. Now, with the receiver only about a foot from the mouse, operation is fine.

Battery life is two the three months per set of AA batteries. I'm sure it would be longer if I remembered to flip the power switch on the bottom of the mouse every time I power down but I rarely remember to do so. A plus is that the "low battery" indicator for the mouse is a flashing red LED on the top of the mouse; it begins to flash a week or more before the batteries die so you don't run out of power unexpectedly.

At the 14-month mark, the right click button on my mouse started to become intermittent. Since the mouse has a generous five-year warranty, I contacted Kensington, filled out an online form, and received a replacement mouse within a week.

Once my new mouse was installed and running, I decided to try to repair the old mouse. I used a thin utility blade similar to the Dick Blick Palette Knife (P/N 03115-1003), [...], to gently lift the mouse "feet" until I could remove the four screws holding the shell of the mouse together. The two screws under the small front feet are located on the inside tips of the pads; the rear screws are located on the outside tips. The flexible pads do not need to be removed all the way, just peeled back enough to expose the screw heads.

I used a aerosol spray non-residue formula static-free contact cleaner with an extension tube to spray a small amount of cleaner into each of the four switches (left-click, right-click, wheel-click and wheel rotary switch) using a small screwdriver to hold down the buttons on the click switches to let the contact cleaner enter the switch body. I repeated the same steps using some bottled air I have for my cameras to blow out the residual cleaner.

I reassembled the mouse, making sure the switch on the bottom was properly engaged, and the mouse tested successfully. Now I have a backup to my new Kensington mouse.

I would definitely buy a Kensington Ci65m Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse again. It's among the best $20 investments (I got it on sale) I had ever made. Highly recommended!

Excerpt: In computing, a mouse (plural mice, mouses, or mouse devices.) is a pointing device that functions by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface. Physically, a mouse consists of an object held under one of the user's hands, with one or more buttons. (Although traditionally a button is typically round or square, modern mice have spring-loaded regions of their top surface that operate switches when pressed down lightly.) It sometimes features other elements, such as "wheels", which allow the user to perform various system-dependent operations, or extra buttons or features that can add more control or dimensional input. The mouse's motion typically translates into the motion of a cursor on a display, which allows for fine control of a Graphical User Interface. The name mouse originated at the Stanford Research Institute and derives from the resemblance of early models which had a cord attached to the rear part of the device (suggesting the idea of a tail) to the common mouse. laptop sleeves
Good product from logitech it's really protect your laptop , i recommended
Notebook Sleeve Offers Great protection
At airport check-in, I accidentally dropped my computer. The thick foam cushion of the sleeve possibly saved me from a $600 loss. The travel mouse that comes with the sleeve makes the package an extra sweet deal.
Fits an Asus UL50
Bought this as a gift for my mom on a deal. The 15.6" Asus laptop fits snugly which to me seems like the proper fitment for these sleeves. The pockets are useful for storing power bricks or associated hardware. Overall great quality construction.

The mouse is bread and butter logitech, works perfectly, good precision and battery life. The USB adapter for the mouse is not "nano" sized , but the mouse has a slot underneath you can use to store it.

Contour Mouse Large - Mouse - optical - wired - USB - black
This ergonomically sculpted mouse is designed to support your hand comfortably without the need to clutch the mouse to control it. You escape the habit of pinching a small mouse on the sides while curling your fingertips back to click on the buttons. Excessive clutching and finger flexing can aggravate the carpal tunnel and result in repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis. The specially designed arch fills the hollow of your palm and allows you to rest your hand on top of the mouse. This arch promotes straight alignment of your hand and wrist bones and slightly elevates your wrist off of the working surface. This helps to break the harmful habit of resting your wrist on the desk or mouse pad and pivoting the mouse from side to side. That pivoting can cause pain and discomfort as the forearm bones twist in directions not easily tolerated by human physiology. On smaller, conventional mice, most users pull their fingertips back in order to activate the mouse buttons. The Contour Mouse allows you to rest your hand on top of the mouse and activate the buttons with small, subtle motions without flexing your fingers. The elimination of flexing reduces carpal tunnel use and the threat of repetitive strain injuries.
