Great Projector, 1 small problem
Great product! Owned this for 2 days now and love it! Got my Xbox 360, Wii, and computer all hooked up to this baby and am not looking back.

There is definatly a downside which I have mostly remedied, however, most people will not be able to. The thing is that this projector has NO AUDIO OUTPUT. Which is weird considering it has HDMI and such. This means if you connect something with the HDMI, you are stuck using the build in speaker for audio. Bummer. Also, if you connect using the y/r/w cables you are also stuck using the internal speaker, but if you have a stereo like I do, connect it to the stereo and run it to the projector. Not that the internal speaker sounds bad, it actually sounds great, but it's just not the best while watching home movies or gaming.

Great picture quality and projects and image of about 5 1/2' x 7'. Actually is slightly bigger, but roughly that size. I'm very happy with my projector.

Vivitek?
I was curious about the Vivitek brand since it's a fairly new name, at least to me. Last time I researched for projectors was probably back in 2002~2003 when the popular Infocus X1 first came out. Turns out the transformer manufacturing giant, Delta Electronic is actually behind the Vivitek brand. Delta(based in Taiwan) supplies excellent power transforms for major computer OEMs such as Apple, Dell, HP and Xbox. So there's a good chance that you are already using a Delta product right now. So there, a little background about the brand. And now you can be rest assured knowing that 3 years down the road when you need to replace that projector lamp, the company will still be around.

AN EXCELLENT VIDEO PROJECTOR
I am really very proud of my new PowerLite Multimedia Projector, as its image is perfect; I use it in my video home theater, so I really enjoy seeing a good picture in my excellent 70INX70IN Manual Screen. This PowerLite projector has really fulfilled all my expectations.

Great lightweight projector.
Ordered this at the last minute for a workshop. Was hoping it would be user-friendly because our facilitators were not tech-savvy. Machine arrived ontime, is very lightweight compared to most digital projectors, and was VERY user friendly. There was no need to "program" the projector into the laptop it ran from in order to make the projected image look good. No adjustments required to view image on laptop either. Came with case which is sort of flimsy, but otherwise a great buy and I'm ordering a couple more.

Excellent Digital Projector
After reading many reviews I selected the Epson PowerLite S7 digital projector... and I am very glad I did. I use it at home for viewing DVD's and for garden seminar presentations. Hooked it up to my Mac and it worked instantly. My only bad experience was with the cable that connects the projector with a computer. It is not the best quality and a pin bent and pushed in soon after I got it (right as I hooked it up for a gardening talk). Just one pin, but the thing wouldn't work without it. Some quick work finally got it up and running but as soon as possible, I purchased a better quality (and longer) cable and have not had a problem since. The picture is bright, colors good, and the instant shutoff is a nice feature. The bulb is rated at 4000 hours instead of the usual 3000 so that's a plus as well. All-in-all a very nice piece of equipment that I would recommend to anyone.

A good buy
Great price - powerful and bright enough for a presentation in a 150' x 150' room with 100 participants. Light. Easily fits in carry-on bag with laptop and cords. USB feature is fantastic and enables you to remotely control your laptop (don't ask me how). I had it out of the package and up and running in about 10 minutes.

Damaged package/Reconditioned or Returned Item?
The projector arrived and the security seal on its box was broken. The projector box had been previously torn open. I suspect I was sent a returned or reconditioned unit which is not what I paid for. Be wary about this item.

Great for our outdoor theater
After doing extensive research and looking for a projector in our target price range, I ordered this one. We bought this projector for the purpose of having an outdoor theater and we love it! It is extremely easy to use. Having used a projector similar to this one before, it was easy to hook up and start using. We connect to a surround sound system so not having speakers in the projector was not an issue. I would have given it a 5 star rating on resolution but it does have to be pretty dark before the picture is clear enough to see. We put a concert on and watched to see when the picture was bright enough to see clearly. It doesn't have to be completely dark, but it does need to be a bit past dusk.

Overall, this is a great projector and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a reasonably priced projector for fun activites. We can't wait to hook up the Wii and play outside!

Excellent in both large and small projection
I purchased this projector for two very different purposes: 1. to project movies onto a wall for pleasure viewing, and 2. to project a small image onto paper as a means of creating hand-drawn rotoscoped animations. I've been very impressed with this projector in all lighting conditions, whether projecting large or projecting small. The image is crisp and bright. I connect to a PC for watching movies and to a Mac for my animation projects, and I've had no problems with either. In this price category, I'm fully satisfied with this product.

Projector
Our club purchased this projector because of a previously used projector of the same brand. This is an upgrade and what a great product, price and everything.
Features are many and ease of use are evident. It is such a great product, I purchased one for personal use.

The Optoma DS317 had great light output and great resolution. It worked intuitively (It better, I usually don't read the instructions. :-) ...very pleased with the product.

Great product
For 379-this projector delivers a great picture and has been a lot of fun. I have used my HD 50 inch screen and also put it outside with just a white sheet for a "drive-in" night. The 30,000 hr bulb is an added plus-if you are looking for a projector with a fantastic picture at a low price-this is the one. Very light and easy to hook-up to any dvd player and speaker system.

BIG SCREEN XBOX 360 ON THE CHEAP
Folks, I have never written a review on Amazon before, but felt I really owed it to you all for this particular item. In a word, the ViewSonic PJD5122 is awesome! I've always been a fan of ViewSonic, since the early days when they made what were considered to be the best value CRT monitors for the price. This unit is no different.

Most importantly, the thing that had me waffling about buying this projector, over a truly HD model for twice the price, was whether or not it would project the Xbox 360 output in 16:9. This is important as we are also using the Xbox as a DVD movie player. Well, the projector DOES output in 16:9! This is the way we watch movies at my sisters house and I barely miss going to the theater. That was my sticking point and I wasn't sure about this until we got it and powered it up. Now, because I am a nice guy, all of you know this. Special Note: YOU WILL NEED THE XBOX 360 (S)VGA OUTPUT CABLES... they run about $40 and I would spring for the official Microsoft ones as people were having trouble with off brands, according to my research.

Now, a caveat: Some of you want 1080p. If you have a blue-ray player, or you expect to see the texture in Halo Master Chief's gloves, well, this isn't for you. I didn't care about 1080p. I am not going to start buying Blue-Ray just yet, so I am not really unhappy using anything more than 720p HD. This is not only good enough for me, it is BETTER than good enough. If you want a big screen gaming experience on a tight budget... then HOLY COW does this thing deliver. It is bright, crisp and the colors are gorgeous, even in a well lit room! I game during the day sometimes and it is nice not to have to blacken out the windows with spray paint. :)

I bought one of these about six months ago as a gift that I also would use when staying at a relatives house. They use it for movies, I use it to game when everyone goes to sleep. We even built our own screen using "Parkland Plastics Polywall". We love that set up. Anyway, I am SO HAPPY with the output of the Xbox 360 on this projector that I am going to now purchase ANOTHER ONE for my own home theater / gaming room.

Buy with confidence, people. This is among the best purchases I have ever made for home entertainment and I saved a TON.

Decent projector with a major flaw
The picture on this unit was pretty good especially considering the price. The reason I give it a bad review is because the unit kept searching for a signal when I was in the middle of watching a movie or playing a game. At one point it would stop, go to the start screen and search, then resume every minute or 2. I called Viewsonic support and they were no help. I have already returned the item and am going to be ordering a different model.

Good home theatre
I bought this projector, since I wanted to have a movie theatre experience. It is a damn good choice. Brightness is good, picture quality is good. But only thing is it supports only 800 x 600 resolution. Rest, we have watched 3 movies in a single day, but the lamp has not got heated up, it was just warm, not hot.
It is a good value for money.

ViewSonic Projector
Arrived in good time, and excellent condition. Features and brightness are great, and pretty easy to use and it is a real bargain for the price. My only two complaints are the high cost of the replacement bulb relative to the overall price, and I searched the instructions without success on how to get my laptop to "see" the projector. I finally had to call a computer guru friend who told me to push "Function" plus "F5" to make the connection!! (This is my very first time hooking up and using a projector of this type...) Seems like they might want to make a bigger deal out of that somewhere in the instructions! Once that mystery was solved, I was in business and it has performed very well.

Great projector for the price!
I had been looking for a projector to do trainings and stumbled upon this one on sale. Boy am I glad I did. It worked right out of the box, the directions were simple, and once I read the manual I realized what a great deal I received. I checked at Office Depot and a few other places and similar projectors were over $200 more than the price I paid(just under $400). I have used it a couple of times now for trainings and it really gets the job done. It is bright enough that I did not have to spend a lot of time adjusting the lights and all those other gyrations that have occurred in the past. I also like the economy feature to extend the life of the lamp (which can get pretty expensive once it needs to be replaced). If you are looking for a simple projector for presentations this is what you need!

Everything I wanted for the price.
I have been saving for an LCD projector to use mostly at home and jumped on this. While it does not have HDMI and is not considered HD I can not tell the difference between an image displayed on an HD plasma TV using HDMI compared to the same image on the projector using a component to VGA ($5 dollar cable) from an HD source which is currently Dish Network. I am still waiting on the screen and mounts to arrive but the image and brightness are better than I expected using a dollar store white king sized bed sheet. I can still watch movies and tv with light coming through the blinds or with the table lamp turned on.

Being able to plug it into my laptop and do my work on it is a bonus. Editing pictures in photoshop on a life size screen makes all the difference.

Only downside expect to spend half as much as you paid for the projector when it comes to replacing the bulb. As I keep and use the regular CRT tv for most things and only use the projector for movies this is not a big deal for me.

If your looking for a good bright projector that does a good job in many roles and do not want to spend a mortgage payment on it.. get this one.

The Best Projector for Your Money
I bought this projector to use at my church in a small room with a lot of sunlight and was shocked at how well it performs. I knew when I bought it, that the price was cheaper but this little projector (and it is very small and light) is worthy every penny (and probably a lot more). It has excellent brightness for its size, and has more features then anyone would expect for such a low priced projector.

It can show both 16:9 as well as 4:3; it can rotate its view to suit wall mounts as well as floor and ceiling mounts. It has digital and natural zoom as well as a host of color correction and brightness adjusting controls for optimum picture performance. From the minute you turn this little guy on you will be amazed at how easy to use it is and it even comes with a free screen and mount if you're willing to pay for the shipping.

Either way if you're looking for a projector with "all the fixins" that won't do damage to your wallet, then you really couldn't find a better one than this.

Good for the money/ Easy set up
Just connect and go. Auto reads the input your running into it. Remote with all the features adjustable from it is a big plus if you have it on a hard to get place (which I do). Using as a visual for guests walking into the lobby but is a little dark for it (day light coming in) but for a dark room or area, it is ideal. Great for the price and quality! A-

So Happy!
I took this projector right out of the box plugged it into my laptop and 'wa la' I had a big beautiful clear picture on my wall. I didn't change a single setting, and there are lots of them!

No instruction manual
I may be slow, but this is my first projector and I would appreciate an instruction manual. The buttons on the top of the machine don't seem to do anything. You need the remote to turn it on and off, etc. Otherwise, the picture quality is great, the noise is minimal when projecting (noisier when doing the final cool-down, but who cares?) and it came with both a power and a connection cord of respectable lengths. Now, if I just knew how to work all of the bells and whistles!

Great Projector and Great Value.
This is the 4th Vivitek I bought within 6 months. I used them to travel to China. They are very bright, small and light enough to travel without feeling burden. Its bright, I do not need to turn off the room light to show vivid picture. Although the projector does not have zoom lens, the digital zoom is very useful to make the image to fill the screen when moving the projector is no possible. The projector even come with a laser pointer! Great deal.

Excellent product for the price
This is not a High Def projector, but if you want a very large image, that is more than adequate and satisfying, this is a good projector for that. I was very impressed with the image. For such a low price, you get a quality standard def looking picture. I definitely got immersed in the picture and movie. Next day I bought some white budget drapery black-out cloth for $5.99 a yard (4 feet worth), few 1x2's, small L brackets and made myself a huge Movie screen. So I spent about another $25 in all for a 7' x 4' screen. So in summary:
PRO's: Price, plug'n play, image quality, brightness, remote control, fun, mobile CONS: Will definitely spoil you and make you want to upgrade immediately (But remember the price you paid for it. :) ), No CD included but found info needed on the web at Viviteks' website.

Not for HD - Check your laptop's capability.
I am not a techie geek, and I suspect that there are many other out there who want a projector for their laptop or game system and just sort of skip over the technical information when reading reviews. So, here's a plain English warning. My son wanted to get a projector rather than a television because it would be easier to move a projector than moving a television from apartment to apartment to apartment. His main purpose for the projector was for watching DVDs from his laptop, gaming with his laptop, and for use with a Wii and a Playstation.

We purchased this projector because of the good reviews and reasonable price. We should have done more homework first. The problem is what is called VGA vs. HDMI. Sorry - I probably lost a few folks there, (and two days ago I would have been lost too) but I'll try to speak English as much as I can. If your laptop or PC has only an "HDMI" port for connecting to a projector, it won't work with this projector. We called Vivitek Customer Support and spoke to a knowledgeable and articulate tech support guy. He told us that this projector is meant to connect to laptops or computers with VGA ports. (It worked with my old school MacBook.) The least expensive Vivitek model projector that can support HD costs around $1,000.

The Vivitek Customer Service rep told us to try to go to Best Buy, speak to a Geek Squad member, and tell them that we needed an adaptor kit for connecting this projector to a laptop with only an HDMI port. According to the customer service guy, the adaptor kit is around $50. It (the adaptor) isn't meant to provide full HD quality, and never will. Evidently, it will allow the connection to the laptop, with audio capability, but will never allow HD quality video. We haven't gone to Best Buy yet, so I can't report on whether or not we were able to make it work, but I will try to update this review to let you all know what happens.

Just let this be a warning that you will not be able to use this projector straight out of the box unless you have a VGA port on your laptop or game system, and you will never be able to get HD quality picture from it. That's straight out of the horses mouth at Vivitek. If you don't know what the difference is between a VGA port and and HDMI port (I didn't) then do an internet search for pictures of the two different kinds of ports and compare them to your computer ports and game system ports before you purchase this projector. And be aware that you can't use it for HD quality picture.

Bargain buy, AWESOME picture
I've been an LCD flat panel fan since they first came out, but I wanted something for a media room in my house that the previous owners finished out and was just wasting away. What better than a 92-inch screen? Found it with the Optoma HD20. Awesome picture for the price of a 50 inch 720p plasma, and this is 1080p! I am very pleased.

Dedicated home theater room projector
I performed a ceiling mount installation with a 13' throw which produced a 115" 16:9 screen. What can I say, it's beautiful, bright even with a fair amount of room lighting, colors are wonderful, quiet, and doesn't seem to have issues with a 25' hdmi connection. I thought hard about a mitsu or epson projector of similar image quality ratings but after reading some of the early bulb blowing stories I'm happy I went with this Optoma HD20. Best on the market for under $1500 if you ask me.

Don't buy any Optoma projectors
This is the second Optoma projector I bought. The first projector was a HD72. When the projector is mounted from the ceiling the lamp becomes loose (due to heat and gravity) and the picture will go out. This is a design flaw which was supposedly fixed with the new Optoma HD20. Unfortunalety I trusted Optoma and bought the HD20. Big mistake! Only after 16 hours of use, the HD20 is doing the exact same thing as the HD72. Picture goes out after a couple of minutes. I am in the process of returning the HD20 and I just bought a Mitsubishi HC3800.

This thing is an AMAZING value.

I ordered the Optoma HD20 on Wednesday night with free super saver shipping and the thing arrived on Friday morning!

I popped this thing out of the box and put it on the universal projector mount that the previous owner had left on the ceiling of our house.

I then hooked up the HDMI input to our HDDVR cable box and WOW! The picture quality for under $1000 is amazing! It takes a few minor adjustments to get the thing focused and if the mount isn't mounted exactly centered to your screen you will get the standard one corner higher than the other. Nothing you can do about this leveling wise, so just get it the best you can or re-center the screen or projector (depends on if being off by 1 inch on a 300 inch screen bothers you).

Long story short after about an hour of messing with the mount in order to get it they way I wanted (nothing to do with the projector) I had this thing displaying AMAZING 8 foot by 5 foot 1080 HD programming.

For less than a $1000 this thing blows away my 52 inch Samsung LCD (also purchased off Amazon, and I also think is a great product).

I highly recommend this to anyway who has the space. HD programming and / or blu-ray is a must for this projector and sports are really great. This thing is especially good if you have a larger room where you don't feel like you are on top of the screen. Hope you have as much luck with it as I have so far. Enjoy!

great starter projector!!!
As a total projector newbie, I did some research on reputed review sites as well as amazon and came up with the Optoma20. It works fantastically well. i do not have a receiver but i just hooked it up to a pair of computer spearks through the projector's audio output. Awesome for DVDs, extremely sharp and bright color, and that's saying something: we live in a loft apartment where it is impossible to black out the entire space, and we have a lot of light pollution at night through the loft windows via the busy street outside. It is still possible to watch movies comfortably. one day i suspect people will start putting lawn chairs outside our window and watch with us.

It isn't an expensive projector by any means, but all six grandkids watched a six foot diagonal movie on the side of the rv, and I thought the picture was pretty ok. I would certainly recommend it unless you have to have a really expensive one. This one, however, can't be beaten for the price.

Not HD but so much fun!
I bought this projector for the purpose of having pool parties where I could watch a movie on my fence with my friends. The speakers inside the projector are very good indoors, but adequate outside. Luckily, the A/V cords are easy enough to connect to a stereo with better speakers. The image projected, up-close and at its sharpest looks like it is being projected onto a very fine net, but from a distance it is hardly noticable and the lens can be adjusted so you can't see it at all. Depending on the projection surface small print can hard to make out. Dark scenes are difficult to see, but not impossible. Cartoons and video games show up great as well as black and white movies and at the right adjustment, live action color movies. Complete darkness is a bonus, but I could still see the movie I was watching out side, with the moon out and the pool light on. Inside, I watched TV on my ceiling with the door closed and the window mostly covered during the day and could still see fine. The fan isn't a big deal to me personally, after a while you don't even notice it-especially if you are a distance away from it. This product is great for the money I paid for it, and I am totally satisfied.

This is not that I expected.
I purchased this projector for my church presentation based upon consumer reviews and the product description. In the description not true, this is only one toy for kids. Projected image is not at all bright and sharp.
I replace the bulb with a better one. Even with the door closed, and the curtains down, it was very dark, if they change the light bulb of 35w to 50w Reveal, perhaps will have improvement, but the device don't support light bulb over 35w. I'm disappointed by this product, because if they fixed the darkness problem, then it would be absolutely perfect.

great for the price
for the price its great. I had a more expensive projector but the lamp died and it was astounding for the price of a new lamp so this is a cheap alternative. 476 for a lamp or 97 for this. the picture quality isnt the best but is good to watch tv or play games on. works best with a dark room blacken out curtians etc. but its not that good to watch dark movies on. like World Trade Center or night time movies. great for a kids room because the cartoons colors are vibrant. would recommend for a 2nd or 3rd tv.

Deceptively Useful
I found the concept of a projector that could fit in your pocket intriguing. The price was reasonable, if it worked and 3M is a reputible company. Fifteen lumins didn't seem like a lot, but for my needs I figured it might work.
The packaging was fist rate. It comes with a cute little tripod.
I use it with my notebook when giving personal presentations. I have a 13" notebook so it is cozy to share the screen. In low light it works GREAT. Full light, not so much. The speakers were a surprise, they greatly enhance the ones on my notebook.

Overall I recommend this product. The only thing I'd like to see is a roll-up 14" X 17" screen, with stand that could be folded to approximately the same size.

Pocket projector
Could not get it to work with the iPhone which was what I needed. Would not recommend.

it is a good product
It is a really light and useful projector. It came on time and in good condition. The only thing is it makes noise.

Not bright enough
Everything about this is quality except one thing, too dim to see pictures unless room pitch black....I would not recommend buying any of these LED projectors until they imporve the technology as this is supposed to be the best of breed.

3M micro projector
Very nice gadget, small size and weight.
Clarity changes to the picture limits: if you fix the clarity in the center (which is usual), near the edges the image is not so clear and with lower luminosity.
Accepted resolutions are limited; I've tried a mini multimedia center which could not link on video output, but it worked on analog video.

Epson Powerlite S5 Projector
Projector works very well in the dark and shady areas. Don't expect it to work in sunny areas. Bulb lasts a very long time. Very efficient.

Great deal!
Very nice value for this projector - I purchased it for my son who is very technologically advanced (11 yrs old)and he found it extremely versatile easy to work with. I'd love to get a case for it since he would like to make it portable since it's so light. Clear viewing, low noise - all in all very nice projector and easy to use.
