Nice configuration
Although a bit big for my desk, this keyboard is comfortable and easy to use. My only beef is that the space bar doesn't always make a space, which is a royal pain for a speed typist. Also, I wish it came with instructions: I'm used to a Mac keyboard and this one has things on it that I haven't a clue how to use. The wrist rest is really nice to have, especially since I have carpal tunnel problems and my fingers fall asleep. With the wrist rest, this doesn't happen. Merchant delivered on time as promised. Box was slightly crushed on one side but keyboard and mouse were well packaged and were not damaged. Overall, it's an outstanding deal, especially considering the price.
Pretty good combo
Pros:
Keyboard has a nice feel to it.
Extra pre-programmed and programmable keys on keyboard can be useful (especially volume control).
Both the keyboard and mouse are USB, but they both come with PS2 adapters should you need them.
FYI--compatible with Windows 7 (I was directed to the Microsoft website for the proper drivers when I tried to load the drivers off of the enclosed CD).

Cons:
First mouse I received had a problem with its scroll wheel. It made loud clicking noises and could not scroll up without scrolling back down some (had a weird spring resistance when scrolling up, so it naturally wanted to scroll back down after you finished scrolling up).
Second keyboard I received did not feel as nice as the first (harder to push the keys). Maybe it would have loosened up after more use though.

As you can see from my cons, the first mouse showed up defective. The good news is that when I contacted both Microsoft and Amazon (I was confused who I should deal with), both were very responsive. Amazon ended up emailing me a return mailing label (postage-paid) and shipped me a replacement combo via 2-day shipping. I talked with them late Thursday afternoon and received the replacement on Tuesday. I emailed Microsoft and the customer rep emailed me a few times over the next few days; sounds like they would have shipped me a new mouse if I had been past the 30-day window. I would normally be a little hesitant to recommend this combo given the defective mouse and the feel of the second keyboard (not terrible, but not as nice as the first). But since I received such excellent customer service I'll just dock it a star for the quality issues I saw.
Perfect for home use too!
This was a fabulous purchase. The keys do not make a lot of noise when you type. The wrist-rest is very comfortable so that your hand is not stressed at an odd angle if you are on the computer for a while. The mouse is very ergonomic as well. I am glad that I purchased this set for my home desktop.
Can't beat this one at this price
Excellent for everyday use. You can't beat it at that price. But as the name says, it's design for business use, not for game. My old mouse from this set quit working after two years office use, the famous double click problem. I get a new set, but the mouse button feels less comfortable(harder) than the old one. Indeed, that one is two years old, may not be good to compare, but I'm sure the feeling changed.
Great keyboardand mouse; good price
This is one of the best keyboards I've ever used. Good touch, lots of shortcuts (print, send, web, zoom, spell, etc. etc.and programmable keys. I am so happy with it. The mouse is good too. I replaced it with a sluggish mouse that didn't work very well. Considering you get 2 good products for the price, I think it is an excellent buy as well.

I don't think any of you will be disappointed.

Worthless
This product gives a bad name to Metro, who has some very capable electronics "vacuums" (some of them only blow). my work ordered 2 of these by accident instead of better models and these arent much better than the novelty USB vacuums you can find for $5
Don't waste your money.
I was hoping to use this as an alternative to canned air, but alas, it has next to zero power, whether being used as a vac or to blow air. It just doesn't generate enough power. I was also trying to avoid a vac because I'm concerned about static electricity and wanted to avoid it, for the most part. My suggestion: Buy canned air or a high-end vac/blower with POWER and wear a anti-static wrist strap!
Not powerful enough
Neither the vacuum or the blower is powerful enough to dust a computer. When I tried it on my keyboard, no crumbs were picked up. The vacuum had essentially no power. I recommend using a CO2 cartridge based blower instead.
Doesn't suck, or blow.
Wasn't exactly what we'd hoped for... not often we get to say this, but we didn't like it because it doesn't really suck. *grins*

We tried both battery and plugged in, and couldn't get it to pick up ANYTHING at all. Couldn't get it to blow very much, either. It sits in our closet, worthless, while we continue to use compressed air cans.
Cool!!
Great product only one flaw. It doesn't come with a bag so you have to order seperate.

computer know-how
can't always have a computer repair person handy when you need one so this book book is just the ticket.
Upgrading pc's for dummies
I love the for dummies books. This is very good, still needs to include really useful things. Like that part about removing viruses with programs, anybody can do that . I'm looking for a way to learn how to remove them by myself , manually. In overall is a good and useful book.
Ok Book
There is more in this book about Vista than XP...which is not what I was looking for. But the color pages with installation instructions are a big help for upgrading components.

Great kit
This is a great tool kit! There are way more tools in it than I expected and it appears to include everything needed for basic to semi-advanced computer repair (I'm still a novice, so maybe it is enough to fix anything!). Only thing missing was a flashlight, but I have gotten one on my own to add to the kit.
Ok for minimal use
I thought this tool kit had all the basic essentials. And the tools are well made for the asking price. However, they do not stay in place when I put them back in the tool bag. Thankfully the bag has a zipper to keep everything in.

it does the job very well
I use this cloth to clean my eyeglasses ever since I needed new lenses that are quite strong; using a soft cloth always left a type of residue that made it look as if my lenses had fogged up! The cloth is indeed washable many times over; it doesn't fall to pieces in the wash; and I really like that I can use this same cloth to clean my LCD monitor and my digital camera lens. Amazingly enough, there's no need for this cloth to be moistened before you use it--it really does the job as it is, dry and with a gentle swipe across the surface that you wish to clean.

My only caveat is that when you use this to clean anything you might want to first blow or gently brush off heavier particles of dirt or dust. That way you avoid making any marks on the lens after you use this cloth to clean something. Another reviewer notes that if you have a water spot you may need to apply a little bit of cleaner before using this cloth.

I recommend this product.
It's a microfiber cloth
What's there to say? It's big, it's soft and it works a long time before needing cleaned on my 27 inch HP monitor + 20 inch on the side. I also use it to clean my netbook's matte screen regularly and it works great. Pretty good value for this size cleaning cloth.
Infused with some sort of magic... I love these!
I used to have to do the whole steaming-hot-water-and-soap wash in the sink a couple times a week to cleanse my glasses of greasy grime. These cloths have pushed that to every few weeks, as with a little mouth-steam they seem to make dirt and grease sort of just disappear. I don't get it. I ended up buying three for myself, as well as a few more for family and friends. Considering how frustrating it can be to be looking a the world through dirty glass, these make a meaningful improvement to the happiness of one's life. Boom!
DOES NOT WORK
I bought this product thinking that it would work for all the finger marks and dust on my new laptop. But it doesn't. Don't buy this and waste your money.
Very good product
This is a great product for generally a lower price than similar products. Its a good size and a good quality. I use it for my laptop and flat screen tv and it works great at getting dust and finger prints off without any water or anything.

Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software
What do flashlights, the British invasion, black cats, and seesaws have to do with computers? In CODE, they show us the ingenious ways we manipulate language and invent new ways to communicate with each other. And through CODE, we see how this ingenuity-and our very human compulsion to communicate-have driven the technological innovations of the past two centuries. Now in paperback edition, this critically praised book weaves an inventive and eminently comprehensible narrative for anyone who's ever wondered about the secret inner life of computers and other smart machines. The work of legendary computer book author Charles Petzold has influenced an entire generation of programmers. And with CODE, Microsoft Press is proud to share this gifted teacher and communicator with every reader interested in understanding today's world of PCs, digital media, and the Internet.

Very descriptive as to the inner-workings of a computer
I recall the book being split into three parts:

The first third of this book is a crash-course in various "codes" used for communicating -- Morse code, Braille, and eventually Binary/Octal/Decimal/Hexadecimal. The author simply explains how to communicate messages using only 2 signals (on/off). This

The second third of the book delves into the history of computing, automated machinery, using electrical signals to convey messages (starting with the telegraph), and eventually working up to "Switches" -- the basic building block of a computers. From there, the author explains, very slowly and clearly, how to build a rudimentary computer. Even if you are not interested in the logical diagrams of circuits, you could easily skip past these sections and still find a wealth of information in the book.

In the third part of the book, after building our basic computer, the author goes into Processors: when they were popular and mass-produced, how people programmed with them, what each chip does, etc. The author explains how newer computers had different processors, and how the x86 chip is still commonly used in PCs today. The author also explains how advances in technology are trending.

The book is a little dated -- my edition was only current up to the year 2000. However, not much has changed in how a computer is made and powers itself on since 2000. This is a must-read for anyone interested in being a programmer or computer electrical engineer. It's also vital for anyone who really wants to know how a computer works.
I think it was written with Love
I wanted to write a review for this book for the past few weeks, but held off until I finished reading it completely, in case there was some disappointment at the end. Thankfully that is not the case - the book is excellent from start to finish.

You can see the amount of love and care that the author has put into this work. From the easy to read font, thought-out diagram and image layouts that never make you flip-back the pages - to the excellent teaching-like style with which the author gradually tackles the topic. It is amazing. I found myself holding off reading too much of the book at once, because I wanted to prolong the pleasure!

I recommend this book to anyone. The first seven or eight chapters should be accessible to anyone, regardless of their technical background, and are alone worth the price of the book. This book should be enjoyed from start to finish, just like a novel. Unlike a novel this book not only provides the reader with the pleasing reading experience, but also with some very useful lessons and fundamentals.

I like the author's approach so much that I have purchased his next book "The Annotated Turing". I will post my impressions of that when I am done.
Mandatory reading for students of first and second year computer science and electrical engineering major
How come I never read this book when I was an undergraduate in electrical engineering major during 1999-2001? Just beat me! I took the liberty to write the review specifically for students majoring in computer science and electrical engineering.

Now a day, the computers are so prevalent and seem so complex that we think it is a complicated machine, but it's quite the opposite. This book beautifully explains it and keeps a perfect balance with historical perspective.

Most textbooks on logic design and electronics do not teach the historical motivation why things in computer came into beings as such, but this book does. For example, it explains why the binary system was such an essential idea for computer revolution. At the time people were still trying to use decimal system to create the computing machines.

Not only you get the historical motivation why computer came into being, but you also get the thought process. On the way you learn how UPC code works? How relay works? How digital electronics work? How logic gates work? How logic gates are combined to form more complex subsystem such as Multiplexor, Decoder, Adder, Subtractor, RAM. And ultimately, how computers hardware and software works? All this is done in a clear and lucid manner and just the right tone.

You continue your journey through how computer represent computer graphics, floating point arithmetic and operating system. This book also touches on why high-level languages are required.

In conclusion, you get basic essential engineering concepts that are required in future and more advanced courses in an absolute clear manner which, in my opinion, is unmatched by any other book on computer fundamentals.
Great foundation for any developer.
I found this book very well written. Easy to understand descriptions of fairly complex concepts. So many of us use computers today and we have no idea how we got here. If you'd like a concise walk through history and an undersntanding of what a computer is doing under the keyboard, this is a great read.
Three words A. Maze. Ing.
This book was recommended to me by Steve Gibson in the Security Now! podcast during listener feedback episode 242 ([...]). This book is absolutly great. Petzold Starts with the bare basics of binary code explained with everyday examples such as Morse code and Braille, then goes into electricity, then Boolean logic, and slowly takes you into Logic gates and beyond. The book is easy to follow with lots of diagrams that are easy to understand. Anyone with a high school education who has taken Algebra and physical science (and passed)should be able to follow along. Be warned, you may have to read some sections twice, some of the information is pretty heavy, but don't get discouraged. It is a little dated, the book was printed in 1999, so some of the examples are a little old (like movies and music on magnetic tape, 32 Megs of ram on a computer) but the principles remain the same. This book is an excellent introduction into the inner workings of a computer and is a must read for anyone going into computer science, computer programing, or IT as it give the underlying fundamentals to understanding how these machines work in a world that takes them for granted.

Good starting place
Very graphic heavy for easy-to-understand layouts. A good place to start with understanding computers. If you are looking for a more systematic approach, this book might frustrate you a little. It gives you snippets of information without providing a "roadmap" to know how this fits and where we are going. But overall, a really good resource for the general public.
Shipping not Intellectual Content
The product arrived as stated in the shipping terms.
The product was in it's original wrapping, and in pristine condition.

I cannot rate the intellectual content of the book. It is simply for a class of mine and I have no other books to compare it too.

I enjoy purchasing from Amazon, especailly since the price is ALWAYS significantly lower than that of the school's bookstore.

Quick service
The item came quick and was in good condition. Exactly what I was looking for.
GREAT BOOK - NOT FOR KINDLE
--or atleast not for Kindle for PC... the pictures are impossibly small. They are literally impossible to read. In most books this might not be a problem. Here, however, there is valuable information in all the drawings. The easy to understand depictions of computer innnards is one of this book's strong suits. I work as a laptop (among other things) repariman in the Military and we use this book to learn the basic inner workings of computers and how what we learn in Basic Electronics applies to real world PC troubleshooting. I was excited to download this for my kinld for PC and refresh my memory as well as get the same explanations of newer technologies.
The book itself is great for this purpose. It breaks everything down into "barney - style" simplicity. At the same time it is extrememly informative and interesting. Unfortunately, you will miss the best part of the book and lose some valuable information by using this on Kindle for PC. I don't know if you can zoom into pictures on the actual Kindles but i have a feeling the result will be even worse.
Buy this book - but not the electronic version.
Popular science category
This book is for people who like to know what is going on, but not for applying this knowledge. You won't be able to upgrade; or troubleshoot your computer if you read it, and you won't be able fix your software either. The reason for the 4 stars is that the title is somewhat misleading. Otherwise, if you belong to the audience above, then it does a good job. On the other hand, if you want to do something specific, don't buy it, it won't move you in that direction, it is too shallow for practical purposes.

Waste of money.... many pages with bunch of examples
This is book is a waste of money. There are hundreds of examples and no important information. You gonna have to go through many pages, until you reach something that it's really worth it.
Anyway, it's matter of choice, but I don't wanna read the author opinions. I want to learn stuff I don't know. The serious material in that book is 100 pages or less out of 700!
Computer Hardware systems software & networking
My order arrived timely. Not enough information to maker buyer aware of having some highlights in the book which would just be a good information.
GREAT
The book is very helpful.
The only complaint is that they do not have a keyword dictionary at the end of each chapter.
Good purchase!
Book seems like new condition so i was satisfied. However, shipping took way to long. I can understand 7-10 business days but 16 days seemed a little ridiculous.

Examples are not great
Computer Organization and Design is an adequate text to teach you fundamentals of computer architecture and covers all the necessary material to have a basic understanding of the subject.

That being said, the examples in the text are far too specific and more general examples would have better suited the purposes of this introductory book. If you have just begun to study this subject, you may have difficulty applying the new topics because of the uselessness of the example problems scattered throughout the text.
Excellent book
This book begins to put all the pieces together as far as the hardware/software interface.
This is a really good book to understand how the computer works.
Ok, but not worth the buy
There were many mistakes in this book...specifically in the answers provided. Our teacher used this book and specifically told us that there were mistakes in the solution guide, and he's been using all the previous revisions of this book since it was first published. He also said each edition was progressively getting worse.

My experience with this book was that it really focused on the wrong things. MIPS is no longer a dominant architecture, and although easy to use as a teaching tool, I really despised being taught architecture using a dead architecture. This book was a decent exposure to assembly language programming. As far as architectures goes though, I thought it fell short.
Excellent Product
Trustworthy buyer, item was exactly as described. Speedy shipping, received item much faster than expected. Would buy from from again.
Great product, Super fast shipping A+++
my experience shows that companies should post more than just the state on the from location. this ended up shipping from a shop right down the street from me. although it had a price tag on it for $45, and I paid ~10. other than that, shipping was great and book was in excellent condition.

Computer Organization and Design, Fourth Edition, Fourth Edition: The Hardware/Software Interface (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Computer Architecture and Design)
The classic textbook for computer systems analysis and design, Computer Organization and Design, has been thoroughly updated to provide a new focus on the revolutionary change taking place in industry today: the switch from uniprocessor to multicore microprocessors. This new emphasis on parallelism is supported by updates reflecting the newest technologies with examples highlighting the latest processor designs, benchmarking standards, languages and tools. As with previous editions, a MIPS processor is the core used to present the fundamentals of hardware technologies, assembly language, computer arithmetic, pipelining, memory hierarchies and I/O. Along with its increased coverage of parallelism, this new edition offers new content on Flash memory and virtual machines as well as a new and important appendix written by industry experts covering the emergence and importance of the modern GPU (graphics processing unit), the highly parallel, highly multithreaded multiprocessor optimized for visual computing. Instructors looking for 3rd edition teaching materials should e-mail textbook@elsevier.com. A new exercise paradigm allows instructors to reconfigure the 600 exercises included in the book to easily generate new exercises and solutions of their own. A CD provides a toolkit of simulators and compilers along with tutorials for using them as well as additional problems and solutions, and references.
