Perfect for my son
I bought my son a Garmin 255W for a graduation gift, however it only came with a car charger. Apparently some of the Garmin's include a USB cable ~ not sure why all of them don't since the first thing you want to do is charge it up and register it. I ended up using my HP digital camera USB cable to connect it to the computer for registering his Garmin and charging it so he could enter some basic info and play around/get familiar with it before attempting to use it in his car (safety first). I bought this accessory kit for him to "complete the gift" so that he would (1)have a case to keep his Garmin in when not in use, thereby avoiding scratching the screen (2)have the flexibility of charging his Garmin at home (3)have his own USB cable for connecting to the computer ~ he has a bad habit of "misplacing" my stuff and he won't be living here forever (4)have international power adapters in case he needs them while traveling (or if I do and he lets borrow his Garmin). Purchasing each of these items separately was way more expensive! Since Garmin didn't package all of these "extras" with the Garmin itself, I am so glad they had them available in a Kit. So far he has used everything in the Kit except for the intenational power adapters and everything works as expected. I would recommend this to anyone who is in a similar situation or has the same needs as we did.

Need a Container
The travel kit is filled with very necessary accessories. Unfortunately, it does not include a container for these accessories. The case shown is for the Garmin device, not for all the plugs and cords...bummer. Wished that had been much more obvious or explained in the ad.
The kit is excellent for international travel with the different adaptors.The extra long car cord works well!

More useful than I expected.
I found the Travel Pack to be very useful. I needed the USB-to-mini-USB cable for connecting the GPS to my computer. That enabled me to download my free one-time map software update to the GPS. My digital camera cable has a proprietary connector on one end so I couldn't adapt it to that purpose. I regularly use the leather carrying case for my GPS. It holds the GPS so I can carry it in my pocket without loosing it or scratching the screen. Garmin recommends against leaving the GPS in the car's glove compartment or out where a thief can see it. Also, I like to program the GPS for my next destination before I take it back to the car, if possible. Sometimes I find it more convenient to use the GPS without hooking up the charging cable in the car. Then I use the house plug-in charger to recharge it later. Note that some cars don't power the cigar lighter for the GPS charging cable unless the key is in the ignition and turned to the on or acc position. Also, if I use the GPS for walking in an unfamiliar city or using public transportation while traveling without a car, I will need the charger.

The Travel Pack is not a necessity, but it can be very convenient. The plug-in charger, the carrying case and the USB cable together in the Accessory Pack cost only slightly more than two of the three items if purchased separately, and less than I would have paid for all three.

Garmin purchase
The product was sent in a timely manner and was exactly what I ordered. I will order again in the future, I have neer been unsatisfied yet.

Good choice
Mandatory accesory pack for travelers, I set the GPS for walking, so if you don't charge it at the hotel Ican't use it. Most of the users only use the device in their cars, in that case perhaps don't need the travel accesory.

Great solution
This works great, once I figured out how to put the GPS on it!! Use the suction cup on the GPS mount, attach it to the cushion, and it all just sits anywhere on the dash you place it. Highly recommended, especially for easy portability to other cars, etc.

friction mount for Garmin
I've never purchased a friction mount. They are simply great. The vendor also was responsive and was clear in his/her advertising.

Good substitute
I bought this replacement bracket to fit to my friction mount. It is a little wider than the original, but fits my 265WT perfectly. Solid, stable hold for the GPS, fits precisely on the ball mount. I already recommended it to a buddy who lost his bracket while traveling.

Garmin 255w mounting bracket
A great price on the mounting bracket , keep a spare on hand, or one in each vehicle.

Does it's job.
The Bracket Cradle fits my Nuvi 255W perfectly. The configuration of the ball is a little different from the one that came with the GPS, but this doesn't make any difference that I can see. Snug enough to hold the Nuvi in place while in use. I think it's a little expensive for a stamped out piece of plastic, but it won't break the bank, and gives me the confidence of knowing I have a back-up should the original get lost and I couldn't use the 255. I'm not rating the price, just the item - and the item does it's job quite well. As good as the original.

Two cars two different ways
The Garmin nüvi 255W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator I purchased came with several ball type attachments but only one cradle. Since I used different style dash holders I hated pulling out the cradle and switching each time. Now I don't have to do that. Made life a little easier and not a bad price.

Great dashboard mount, no issues here!
This is the best dashboard mount I have tried for my GPS. It's heavy, with a non-skid bottom, so I don't have any issues with cornering, sliding, or the GPS tipping. Unlike a lot of these reviews, I have had NO trouble with the mount sticking -- if anything, it's difficult to remove! I agree with a reviewer below, maybe these folks didn't remove the plastic film that protects the surface before trying to stick the mount. As for size, I have the 5" touchscreen, and it fits with no trouble at all. Very pleased with my purchase, and I plan on getting another to replace an older, less well-made dash mount for another unit.

just one problem
The ability to set this on the dashbord and position it is great. However, to secure the actual GPS to the mount you need to use the suction cup which does not stay attached in the heat of the summer. I even tried to secure it with crazy glue and it still fell off. The mount needs an arm that is securely attached to the base to hold the GPS in place, in my opinion. A friend of mine has a Garmin mount that does this and it is very secure.

Tom Tom GPS Mount
Great durable product. For the price of a generic, at Amazon you can get the real thing at a fraction of the retail cost. The product is durable and well made. Low Light Performance is marginal though----Still 5 stars!

I'm stuck on it!
I simply set the GPS on the pad and it stuck to it right away...took quite a bit to pry it off. So, whatever problem there was isn't now. My TomTom XL335 sticks to this thing like glue!! And it's plenty big enough.

Mine came with little hook that you can attach to your dash if you experience any slippage of the mount. So, any concern about it flying around is now taken care of.

Excellent product.

GPS Organizer
This item is what I was looking for and should suite my needs as expected.

Versatility is getting there
I'm always looking for bags and cases to store all the stuff I think I have to take with me. The problem is finding the perfect bag or one that does it all. This is a nice attempt but it is still limited due to sized pockets or areas of the case. There are great ideas. Using mesh/flexible pockets, some zippered some not, some that swivel out like on a hinge. And the semi-soft shell is a great idea. It does help protect what is inside yet it is not that extremely hard material that makes it feel bulky. The inside is a bright orange which makes it easer to see what is there.

What I usually find limiting about most cases is my stuff is either too big or too small for the size of the pockets. I may be able to get one thing in perfectly but maybe the power adapter or something else has to be squeezed in. So I find it hard to figure out what I should put in this. What I would like to see is a bag or case that you can tailor to your own needs. (Of course if I knew what that was I could probably make a fortune!)

It is a great case and some of the other reviewers have found it works perfect for them. I did try my Kindle 1 but it was a bit too snug and I am concerned how it pushes on the buttons. It is one of the better cases out there and I will find a use for it.

Simple does the job
This is a simple case that protects your basic small electronic devices. It is suitable for traveling.the price is right but it is not anything more than a mini travel case.

Perfect for my plug and wire collection
I've accumulated quite a few wires, adapters, and plugs to keep my electronic life together when I'm on the road. So until we have truly wireless products, this handy little zipper bag has become my trusty companion. It holds my universal car/home AC adapter along with an assortment of small cables and gender changers, and all of these manage to stay in place, thanks to the elastic mesh pockets. The rigid case helps prevent items from getting crushed.

Nevertheless, this product could stand improvement. For instance, there are two zipper pulls when one would have been adequate. The carry strap is located poorly; it should be at one end or the other but not an inch from the front corner. And there ought to be a slot for a business card, so that I can easily identify the case as mine. But these are minor points. Overall, this is a good value.

Everything in One Place
I have been using this handy organizer to store the cords/cables for my digital camera, my battery charger and spare batteries, some memory chips, and a couple of other random electronic components.

I like the hard outer shell, as it allows the case to stand vertically on my bookcase. The number and variety of interior pockets gives me plenty of versatility.

My digital camera is a little too thick to fit into the case if I've other things in there, but I do appreciate being able to keep everything else in one place.

This is my first AmazonBasics item, and I am pleased with the combination of quality and price. I will certainly consider buying the brand in the future as well.

It's more than I expected.
I read enough reviews about the Garmin Portable Friction Mount to know the general consesus of owners highly approved of it. So I gladly ordered from Amazon.com to replace my windshield mount. It is everything it promised to be, and exceeded my expectations. I fully expected some slippage across the dashboard around tight corners. I even went so far as to hang onto my Garmin 855 on aggressive turns. But then I got courageous enough to just let the Friction Mount do it's job (hold my GPS in place without slipping/tipping)... and it did! So to my surprise I didn't have a single problem or worry anymore. And the dashboard mount is far better than the windshield mount.

I withheld one star simply because I think the unit is slightly overpriced. It is still worth every penny if it helps prevent GPS theft, but for what is essentially a non-slip sandbag with a plastic mount on top... I would like to have paid a little less. No complaints about overall quality whatsoever.

Does not fit all listed devices, had to discard
I bought this mount for my old Garmin Street Pilot, and it was wonderful, far superior to the original vacuum thingy that hung on the windshield. After only a couple of trips, the touch screen on my GPS went crazy and Garmin said there was nothing to do about it --- so I purchased a Nuvi 265WT. It is listed as a device that this works with, but there was no way whatever I could fit it onto the ball mount. The ball is too large. Since this is listed for that device, I don't know what to do to replace it. The way the Nuvi hangs on my windshield is very distracting, as the cord is much closer to me than it was with the Street Pilot. I have a curved dash, so I can't just use anything that sits on a normal dash. Too bad it doesn't fit all the advertised devices, as it is great when it fits.
If you're thinking of buying one, I'd suggest taking your GPS to the store and making sure it fits rather than ordering online.

Not all Garmins are Good

I've learned that, just because it is a Garmin, it does not necessarily mean that it is a good GPS unit.

My very first Garmin was a handheld Garmin Vista bought way back in 2002. It was HORRIBLE with bad reception, slow processing, a difficult to read screen, etc. I used it for many years for mountain biking but was anxious to replace it with something better.

My next GPS unit was an X-Road (Japanese brand) GPS for my car. This GPS was excellent, with good routing and many useful features. Unfortunately, X-Road is no longer sold or supported in North America.

After some research in 2009, I bought a Garmin 60CSx handheld for mountain biking. This is a wonderful unit and it restored my faith in Garmin. It is everything that the Garmin Vista wasn't; It has excellent reception, fast processing, an easy to read screen, reliable operation, etc.

So when it was time to buy another GPS for my SUV, I did my research and decided on the Garmin Nuvi 255W. You already know all the good features from other reviews but I HATED this unit and eventually returned it to the store because its routing and directions were TERRIBLE. Here are some examples:

1. First day of use. In Portland, Oregon, I listened carefully to the voice directions as I approached a major freeway exchange. I couldn't understand what it wanted me to do. Go right or left? I went right and went on a 10 mile wild goose chase to get back on track.
2. The next day, my wife was in the car as I approached the same exchange and asked her, "Listen carefully to the directions. Which way do you think it is telling us to go?" My wife said, "To the right." I said, "Wrong. We need to go to the left. The directions are totally ambiguous."
3. On the Oregon coast pulling a trailer on the way to Fort Stevens State Park, the unit took us through a residential area with narrow lanes instead of keeping us on the main road which ran parallel. Eventually, it reconnected us to the main road. What was it doing?? My wife and I were laughing at its terrible routing.
4. Later that week in Oregon, the unit wanted us to climb up a narrow, single lane mountain trail instead of taking us on the main road just a mile down the highway. Another crazy suggestion. There were two more similar incidents in Oregon. We tried to play with the routing settings and preferences, but we could not prevent the bad routing and bad directions.
5. In Washington State, three examples of terrible directions that got us totally off track. Then it took us to a restaurant that didn't exist. My wife and I bought a paper map because we no longer trusted the thing.
6. In Vancouver, BC last week, yet another major freeway intersection with ambiguous direction. I had seconds to decide which way the unit wanted me to go. Right, center, or left? It was clearly saying and indicating center, but it didn't feel correct to me. I decided to trust the Garmin. It took me onto the wrong highway and I went on another 10 mile round trip detour to get back on track. I was so mad I was ready to throw the Garmin out the window.
7. One hour later, I was late for an appointment and wanted to quickly stop at a Subway deli before continuing on. It had me turn right, then right again, then right again, then right again. I was going in circles. What was it doing?? It turns out the Subway was on the left side of the main road. The Garmin messed up again. I missed my lunch and just kept going.

That's when I pulled it off the dash and threw it in the glove box. I took it back to the store for a refund the next day after one month of use. I bought the Nuvi 255W to help find my way and to keep me from getting lost. Instead, it got me lost practically every time I used it. I HATE this product.

In its place I bought a Tom Tom XL335SE, which I've now been using for only a week. I bought it because some reviewers claim that it has superior routing relative to the Garmin units. So far I've found no problems with the Tomtom directions and routing. It's everything the Garmin was PLUS it actually seems to come up with sensible routing and easy to understand directions. I'm much happier with the Tomtom.

Great unit for the price
This Nuvi 255w is a great unit at the refurbished price of $89.99, but the first one I received kept freezing up so I returned it for a new one. This 2nd one works good with no problems after 2 weeks. Amazon made it very easy to return the defective one.

The free 2011 map update that it came with took a few hours to download, but wasn't difficult to do. This was a much better alternative to purchasing a $60 map update for my old nuvi 200 that I've had for 5 years. For just $30 more I got the new maps plus a new unit with the better designed display and I will keep the old Nuvi 200 as an extra unit for emergencies.

I definitely recommend this model at such a great price.

Great product
I have never owned a GPS and bought it based on the reviews on Amazon. And I am thrilled that most everyone was right on. It's so easy to use and it made my trip much more relaxing, because I never got lost! This is a great product at a great price.

Idiot Proof GPS
I give this product 5 stars. This Garmin GPS is just great. Unbelievably easy to use and an incredible bargain around $100. I`ve never used GPS before and had no problem getting this unit up and running in a couple of minutes. Mine is refurbished and no problems. I highly recommend this unit.

Great case for Garmin Nuvi 1390T GPS
I purchased this case for my Garmin Nuvi 1390T GPS. The case was exactly what I expected (i.e., "Durable, molded EVA exterior and soft jersey interior") as I had other similar Case Logic products. The GPS fit nicely in the "sleeved" area. What surprised me was that the cord fit into the case without any problem. I feel confident that the case will protect my GPS and feel that it was a great bargain for the price.

Not right for me
This case was a little too tight for my 4.3" Garmin 1390T GPS and power cord. It also has no padding to absorb the shock of a fall. It wasn't worth the trouble and expense of returning; so I gave it to my wife.

She puts her smaller square GPS, in a padded pouch, inside this case and still has room for the power cord. Between this case and her pouch her GPS is well protected and she doesn't have to fish the power cord out of her bag.

I ordered the Lowepro 4.3" Navi Shield GPS case for a few dollars more and I'm very pleased. It has a built-in padded pouch, room for my power cord and a thicker exterior shell to protect my 1390T GPS.

There's a case for everyone.

I'm giving this only 3 stars because Amazon promoted it, as a package deal, for use with the 1390T and I don't think it is an adequate case to protect that GPS.

bought this to house my 4.3 g.p.s. and protect it...it does its job well, but it does take up considerable space in the center glove box.

Great protection for the GPSP
This little case is great I do not have to worry about dropping, placing things on top of it, because the screen is protected, and it even fits in my little purse,

Bare Bones GPS Protection
Good, inexpensive case for 4.3 inch screen GPS units. This case is a little large for my Garmin Nuvi 255W, but it still does a good job of protecting the screen. If the fit had been a little more snug, I would have rated it 5 stars.
