MAKE SURE OF AMPERAGE
It says it is compatible with 1 3rd edition, it works, but it is only 1.5 amp. My damaged one that came with it has 2.0 amps.
TomTom car charger
I order this GPS car charger so I could modified it to plug my Tom Tom GPS on my motorcycle. Price is right and shipping was fast !

My project works good, my Tom Tom GPS is now powered when hooked to my motorcycle. Sadly found that my GPS will need a sun screen to work during day operation...
Does the job.
I got a refurbished one. It does the trick. I'll try not to hang the cord out this time.
Works well
No problems with the product...it works great. The plug on mine went sideways, not straight like in the photo, so make sure it will fit right in your GPS unit. I had to make some adjustments after buying it.
do not buy the charger if you don't need an extra one.
I bought the charger at the same time I bought the GPS. I read the whole page about the GPS and was intersted in why it did not say it came with a car charger. When I got both the charger and GPS in the mail, I was disappointed to see the GPS came with the car charger. Now, i have an extra one for no reason. I waisted money because the add did not say the GPS came with the charger. was very upset.

Garmin good purchase, fine product
I Have a Garmin GPS already and needed a second one for my wife. This model has the features needed such as lifetime traffic and voiced directions and street names. There are commercials with the free live traffic feature, but they are small and onobtrusive. The screen size and graphics are great and directions are on point. Bluetooth synching works great with my IPhone 4 and older phones too. Free Upgrading of map to 2011 was easy as Garmin has an option to order a CD with a one time new map upgrade for a low shipping charge. The volume is not as loud as on my old Garmin, But loud enough if radio volume is lowered in your car. That's the only con I have so far. Still learning how to use some of the other new features such as loading routes from other sources. Maps on your phone can't compare to a specialized live unit like this. Buy it.

Garmin 265 in real world
Bought this Garmin a month ago mainly on the good reviews it had received and the reasonable price. Took it on a trip to the Bay area, CA. Overall, it performed well. The initial satellite acquisition in a new area takes longer than normal but that's to be expected. Subsequent acquisitions were fast. As far as the routes, except for one hiccup where it kept trying to exit on a non-existent exit on the highway, it performed OK. I noticed though occasionally it went "crazy" going around loops and so forth. Best to re-start the route calculations in those situations. The maps are fairly up to date. The traffic worked OK in one situation but for the most part, it's not the feature I would base my purchase on. For people who rely on reviews, having read dozens of them on various GPS devices, you will not find one with a perfect score. There's no such thing as a perfect GPS at any price with the current state of technology. Even with the "best" one purchased, one should not blindly follow the instructions. Commonsense should be exercised as to where the GPS is sending you. For the money, Garmin 265WT is an adequate unit.
Love it cant drive without it!
Best Gps,nice widescreen so that u can view the street details, never looses signal, calls street by name, accurate, good features to find shopping ,gas, food etc nearby.dont forget to install the free update u get with this gps it expires after a month or so.
Overall Satisfied
Overall I think this is great for the tech challenged, however I really would have liked a REAL manual to be included. I had to ask my friend to find it on-line. Since there isn't a manual provided I'm not really sure all that the device can do...but for getting places it's pretty straight forward. For the price I'm satisfied with what I got.
Garmin GPS 265WT
What a great upgrade from my old Garmin 330, this thing is awesome, handsfree phone use with the bluetooth, and the directions to new places is priceless

Easy to use and extremely helpful
The major reason I bought this version of Garmin's Nuvi as an upgrade over my older Nuvi was the free traffic feature (previous versions required a yearly fee). In general, I've found the traffic feature to be reasonably accurate although not all the time. Having used the unit for almost a year now, I would guess there have been less than a handful of occasions when it didn't tell me about traffic ahead of time.

One of the features I like most of the Garmin GPS units over other makers is the "text to speech". I prefer hearing the name of the street rather than just "turn left in 400 feet". There have been a few times when the unit's directions weren't an exact match for the road signs; however, those cases are few and far between. The interface is a little more user-friendly than my previous Nuvi, with better access to some features like the volume.

Another extremely useful feature included here but not in my previous unit is the ability to use it while walking around the streets (not only in the car). The small size makes for an easy fit in your pocket; however, since this didn't come with a case, I had to use the soft leather case which came with my previous unit. The estimated time to destination is fairly accurate within a few minutes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a GPS. I don't know how I ever got anywhere before getting these Garmin Nuvis.
Garmin 265/T
Lightweight, compact and super ease of operation. Finds it's position quickly and info is right on target. I use in both my vehicle and a motorcycle. No cons that I know of....all Pros.
Fine product, not so good support.....
I researched a lot before buying this GPS. I have owned 3 GPS units in the past (still have one of them) and I knew what I wanted to have. Firstly, I wanted updated maps and the Bluetooth connectivity. I also thought that having the "traffic" feature would be nice. When the unit arrived, I immediately opened it and checked out the contents. I was surprised that it did not include an owners manual but only had a quick set-up guide. I gave the contents a quick once over and saw that they had a USB cable that would fit nicely into the back of my iPhone car adapter as well as it's own car adapter that was also included.

I charged the unit as suggested using a USB power adapter that I had for the iPod/iPhone (they did not include an AC adapter). I used the before mentioned USB cable and my iPhone car charger in the car and when I turned it on it acquired the satellites pretty quickly compared with the other GPS units I've tried. Inputting the address is very easy and the setup is quite intuitive. The POI feature is quite nice too and one feature I loved is that you can actually type the name of the place you want to go to like "Fernbank" or "Callanwolde" which are special places in Atlanta and the unit found them and routed a good way to get there.

The maps appear to be fairly up-to-date and so far it has given me good directions. However, it is not perfect and like other GPS units, it will not recalculate the optimum routes if you deviate from it's instructions. Instead of taking the next logical route from the next available intersection, it wants you to turn around and go back to the original route. I guess this would work out OK but it's a little disconcerting when you are driving through areas that I know well and I know the shortcuts.

The problem I had was getting the "traffic" feature to work. I looked in the documentation that was included which was a very brief and sketchy quick start guide and later spent a lot of time surfing the net and navigating through the Garmin website trying to find information about this "traffic" feature. I had zero luck with that. I thought that the seller had sold me a unit without the "traffic" feature. so I called the retailer but they did not know the product well enough to advise me. They did offer to accept the return of it if I was not satisfied with it, but suggested I contact Garmin first. This was the biggest complaint I found with the product. Totally inferior support. I was on the phone on hold 3 different times for quite long periods of time. The Garmin website is also quite difficult to use as their support and contact links are cleverly hidden or at least very difficult to find. They just don't want to talk with you... Finally I found an email address and sent a query while waiting on the the phone through endless messages mostly saying "we are very busy and you'll be better off callings us some other time". Finally I got a human on the line and I quickly found out that the car power adapter that was included contained the FM receiver for the traffic.... OK, I guess I could have read the instructions, except there were none included. (finally the tech support guy emailed me a PDF file with the manual). Anyway, the tech support representative was courteous and knowledgeable and he did help me with my questions even if it took a long time to finally get him.

After that glitch was taken care of, the traffic featured appeared like magic once I plugged the car adapter/traffic receiver to the car. It shows the icon as green (no traffic). yellow (moderate traffic) or red (Atlanta nightmare traffic). However, I have not figured out when and if it will actually re-route you to avoid congestion.. The Bluetooth was pretty straightforward to pair up with my phone and in a few minutes it was working fine. The hands free feature works very well and my callers cannot tell that they are on the speaker phone/GPS. The only problem with the sound of the GPS is that is is not loud enough to hear over the radio when it's playing or if the road noise is too loud (like with the window open). The one feature that is missing and should be there is a mini phone outlet to hook it up to the radio and amplify the sound some more.

The other complaint I have is that the power adapter/traffic receiver is awfully big and clumsy. Also, the connection is in the left side (as you look at it) in the back of the GPS which makes it awkward to place. The suction mount is very well designed. It sticks like superglue on the windshield of my truck or my car. It's very compact and easy to use. I have not tried using the little disk that is included to mount the suction cup in some other (presumably more convenient) place.

As a GPS I give it a 8 out of 10 points. The Bluetooth is also a 8 out of ten The reason they don't score 10 of 10 is because the lack of an audio "out" or a louder speaker. The mounting system is perfect, I give it a 10 out of 10 points. The power cord is so clunky that I give it a 5 of 10 points, worse yet is that you gotta use it in order to have the full features of the GPS.. I bought it as a reconditioned unit so the price was only about $89 dollars. For the price it is hard to beat. However, the clunky power cord with the FM traffic receiver is a big hassle and the little, quiet speaker is unforgivable.

It's not perfect but if you are willing to do with out the "traffic", it's an impressive unit with a very good Bluetooth phone connection. If you don't mind the clunky cord and the tinny voice, it's probably as good a unit as you can get, at least for a low price.
Awsome Unit
I bought this unit after reading many reviews, I have to say I was not disappointed. I set this up in just a few minutes and used it for a trip I was planning with my family. The accuracy and spoken commands telling you the direction and streets is very good and accurate. I even used the bluetooth feature to connect it to my blackberry just to try it out and it worked great. I am looking forward to using this unit many times in the future on all my trips.
265t garmin
the product is good but the traffic icon will drive you crazy as it was not coming up for me initially. It needs couple of re-boots and your bluetooth should be on. Somehow if you are receiving the call and the system is trying to say some direction, the spoken feature sometimes stops working and we need to reboot.

But for feature, this product has very good features, as you are covered with your traffic needs and it clearly detours you, atleast you can be aware your will be struck for a while. The presentation is very good.

Only issue is when the traffic some times never comes up for the same highways it was coming before..

I recommend this product for this price as you will know the trick the get the traffic working after you use it for couple of days.

Garmin nüvi 755/755T 4.3 Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
Garmin continues to build up its nüvi 7xx series portableGPS navigators with its nüvi 755T, which adds a number of handy routing and communication features to an already impressive list of specs, including a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech capabilities, media player, and FM transmitter for transmitting audio--including directions and MP3 music and audiobooks--from the device to your car radio.New to the nüvi 7x5 lineup is Garmin's HotFix satellite prediction (which locates your position quickly and precisely), Lane Assist (which provides lane guidance and junction views when possible), automatic time zone transitioning, and 3D Building views as well as Garmin Connect Photos to help you visually ascertain your position. Additionally, the nüvi 755T includes free real-time traffic updates from Navteq (for the life of the device) via the included GTM 20 traffic receiver. The bright, 4.3-inch touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70 percent more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

Nice upgrade from Nuvi 660
I just received a new Nuvi 755T and have used it for one day. So far, the differences between this unit and my Nuvi 660 that it replaces have been very good.

The biggest differences:

Speed limit indication, automatic scaling based on road speed.

I bought this unit for the traffic feature and the speed limit indication - I have not used the traffic feature extensively yet, but did look at a map of the Twin Cities this morning and it indicated a weekend closure of I-94 through St. Paul - just like it should have.

So far, the only thing that I have not liked is the fact that you can't replace the voice prompt with an alert beep when navigating.

Garmin has units with more features, but I chose this one because I think there is going to be a dramatic increase in features as more and more of them are connected to a central information system and I'm not ready to spend $400 on something that is an interim step.
Power supply / power failures
I have used the Garmin 755T sparingly over the last year and a half. It has numerous problems with failing to retain power. Yes, it is plugged in the vehicle and plugged in via usb port to my computer. The unit dies quickly with battery power and with automotive power. Other times it will not recharge. All connections are firm. My brother has the same unit I bought for him a couple weeks after my purchase. He drives around to construction sites. It also dies, but it appears to be the result of heat in the vehicle. The interior is hot for an hour in the sun, then cooled when he returns with the A/C on. But it fails to work for a half to one day later. I would not recommend this poor quality GPS.
Never owned a GPS before-
I purchased this item for a recent road trip to the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco to Seattle. I did quite a bit of research and found this GPS got wonderful reviews all around.
The Good: worked pretty great on the trip, decent recalculation times and POI's (although it did fail to find a large strip mall close to my home that was built 3-4 years ago, so I'm not sure how recently the maps in this software have been updated). At first I thought that the calculation times were really slow, but it definitely helps if you use the "Near" button at the bottom of the screen to narrow your searches. Using this feature is highly recommended. One feature I definitely appreciated was that one confusing highways, the view switches to snapshot of the highway signs and lanes to better direct you where to go. This only happened twice on the trip, but the switches were well timed and very helpful.
The Bad: There are more than a few places not included in the pre-programmed POI's. Sometimes searches take 3 or more minutes (which doesn't sound like a lot- until you're in a hurry.
The Ugly: I hate the keyboard! The buttons are hard to press and it feels like it takes forever, especially for place names longer than 12 or so letters. Often I press a letter and a completely different letter appears on the screen, necessitating use of the erase button, which is inconveniently placed and hard to press, even though my fingers are small even for a woman's.

Overall, I am satisfied with this product, although if I could go back and choose again, I might make a different choice.
Gets me to the church on time
This product works pretty good. The driving directions are clear and fairly accurate. The directions of use and how to use the features are poor. I like the display showing time of arrival and speed limits, speed signs are a little sparse in this area, but cops and their tickets are not. I have noticed a lag in responce time. Several times it will tell me I have 500 ft before the turn when in reality I'm right at the turn. It seems to be a few seconds behind me, with my driving style a few seconds behind can be too late. If you drive more reasonably there should be no problem. I am a little disappointed with the lack of additional voices and images that are available for Garmin users looks like the others have snatched up most of the voice-overs.

One thing I wish Garmin would do is let you edit the maps. I drive out to Reservations where the maps do not cover, I would like to program in the roads so I can find my way out or back in again. I know another GPS provider allows you to edit.
Great value for GPS
As a first time GPS user, I was looking for a GPS that would give me the basics but also have some amenities to it as well and this GPS has done just that. I was intrigued by the traffic and the multi-point destinations specifically as it set itself apart from other similarly priced units that had what I wanted.

The traffic feature, when available, is nice and has helped navigate to destinations. It has been reliable as far as how long and where a backup will be. However, I wish that the traffic feature was available in a broader area. Advertisements on GPS are very small and a non-issue.

The multi-point destination, which I was looking foward to, is great to have. Having the speed limit available while driving has also been very useful.

When forced to take an alternate route because of a downed tree, the GPS recalculated very quickly and put me on a differrent route.

The volume and voice is loud and clear from the unit.

In my opinion, this GPS is well worth the price listed on Amazon.

Item does what it is supposed to do
What more can I say. This item does what it is supposed to do. I have been using this with my Archos 5 Internet tablet with the NDrive software and have had no problems.
Excellent quality, Perfect Performance!
I'm really impressed with this. Overall, the quality is MUCH better than I was expecting.

This is very well designed. For instance, I was expecting this to be a flimsy suction cup that I'd have to worry about falling from the windshield while driving, but it has a locking lever that makes this VERY sturdy and strong. The adjust-ability range is just awesome, you can mount it virtually anywhere, at any angle. It comes with snap-in adapters for the Flash Drive (8/16/32 GB) and HDD models (160/500 GB). Putting the Archos in and taking it out is quick and easy, literally takes just a second. I think the actual design of the mount looks cool too!

Regarding the FM transmitter, I was impressed with the sound quality. I did not think it would perform as well as it does. The bass output is much, much stronger than playing a CD, which surprised me. Of course the quality of the music file you're playing has a huge effect on the sound quality, but 99% of my music library so far, sounds perfect when played through the FM transmitter. No background noise or static whatsoever!

To sum it up: You get a sturdy, high-quality mount, a way to integrate your player to ANY car (or home or work for that matter) stereo, AND it charges the Archos...all for only 31 bucks!!

I could not be happier with my purchase! Thank you Archos and Amazon!
Hold Me!
This item was mainly bought to just hold the archos 5 somewhere useful for car usage. It does serve its purpose. I give the suction cup a 3/5 since it did slip off of the winshield once. To its credit however, the Archos 5 is NOT a lightweight device. We positioned the mount on the windshield, but low enough not to obstruct road view and where the bottom of the mount also rests on the dashboard.

The charger is a nice add-on. I can't speak for the fm transmitter. I use my 3.5 jack for auxillary input to my head unit. I was never a fan of the fm transmitter sound in the past with other devices.

This is a great buy, if for nothing else, I don't know where you can find another product of this type for the Archos 5 internet tablet.
Mount is nice, the charger/FM cable may be a scam
I bought this product for both the charger and the suction cup mount. I think the mount is nice and works very well from what I've seen over the past few weeks. I'm not sure how other cars looks with a large item on the window but I didn't like that in my Sebring. So what I did was use a Dremel to cut a 2x2 piece of plastic that the cup with stick to, then I used some velcro strips to attach that to a bare part of my dashboard. Now I feel that the unit is mounted in a useable way without the player being a distraction to the driver.

The charger/FM cable is alright. It does server it's purpose as a charger and it enables the builtin FM transmitter options on the Archos 5 IT. However if you don't have the adapter plugged into your car and only attached to the device, it still supports the FM option. I'm not convinced that this cable truly houses any of the items needed to broadcast over FM, but rather a marked up accessory to enable the feature. Compared to the other products it's nice to only need 1 item plugged in. The other charger/transmitters require the USB or dock port be connected to charge, and then the 3.5mm audio jack for the FM. So from that perspective it's nice. I think I may ditch the charger for a microUSB charger and just get a better stereo to support Bluetooth and/or a 3.5mm audio jack or USB since they're sub $200 now. I hope some of you find this useful in making your decision. For me, the audio quality of FM is garbage and I'm willing to pay for better.

Can I return?
The price is good comparing with the Garmin car power cable but it's useless absolutely. The port of this cable is not fit my GPS interface. After plugging in them together by force, it's only worked for one time. From my point of view, do not buy this cable.
Put Garmin in charging mode
This power cord did exactly what the description said it would not do. It put the Garmin in charging mode, which made it very annoying to use. Also, the seller did not ship the item specified, instead shipped an item with the coil cord.
It's good for cell phone. Not for GPS.
Everytime I connected it to the Garmin GPS, the device treated it like a computer connection. Although it charges during the connection, I have to disconnect everytime in order to use the GPS, and then the battery starts to run down, then connect, disconnect, and so on.
Absolute piece of junk.
Should have never tried to save a few dollars by buying this worthless piece of junk. Was advertised as having a retractable cord but actually had a curled cord that would stretch less than two feet at best so for the short time that it worked placement of the gps was limited to a very short range. It didn't matter for long as the part that plugs into the gps fell apart at the seams and the whole thing became useless after less than two weeks use. I wouldn't buy this product or any other from this merchant.
I have a nuvi 660 and this will put your GPS in PC sync mode USELESS !
Like others I chanced it based on pricing and came up short. At least with the Nuvi 660 this item does not work. tried it in two vehicles and both force the nuvi 660 to go into pc sync mode.

Great item that does not hurt your car!
I had recently received a TomTom from my parents. As a hand-me-down it did not include a way to keep it stable or in one place on a vehicle dashboard. Amazon.com is where I go to shop and read product reviews, so I logged in and looked at several different items. I chose the SecureHOLD GPS mount for it's features, most importantly the way it grips the dashboard without hurting it!

It does not slide around at all on a recently cleaned dashboard, and I have had no troubles at all keeping it in place on a dusty one. I am glad I ordered this, and after all of my research, I believe this is the best product I could have gotten. It is constructed very well, and it's highly adjustable. I think this device would even hold cell phones that use GPS type of apps, like the Droid.

Great product that I will recommend to friends and family if they have a need for it.
disappointed with our purchase
We are not very satisfied with our purchase of the secure hold-GPS auto dash mount. We can not charge our Garmin GPS while in the holder. I would not have purchased this stand if we would have known this. We are RVers and it was dissapointing.
SecureHOLD GPS Auto Dash Friction Mount - Removable
Doesn't hold my GPS sturdyly. If it is in place then it is very easy to use. By itself it is a good product (well built and easy to place anywhere). The problem is sometimes when I move it to avoid sunlight reflection my GPS would fall off. When driving that could be dangerous.
Works best for a flat dash
Subject says it all, this product needs approximately 8x8 inches of flattish or slightly contoured real estate. My eagle talon abhors the thing, but the likes of a modern Jeep Wrangler or similar will mount this without issue.
Great product with 2 exceptions
This product works great for my iphone. Solid, well made and good friction/weight ratio. Only issues I wish were resolved were the option to have a windshield mount option and wish the bean bag was a bit more flexible to curve around challenging dashboards. Other than that, it works great and is solid.

Great, cheap replacement for Garmin cable
My cable to connect my Garmin to my car broke and I was dismayed to find a Garmin replacement would run me 40+ bucks. This is a wonderful replacement that works well at a very good price. Highly recommended.
I THOUGHT I WAS WRONG
THE CHARGER I NEEDED FOR MY GPS I THOUGHT I ORDERED THE WRONG ONE BUT IT WAS THE RIGHT ONE THANKS SO MUCH FAST SHIPPER GOOD QUALITY
charger for Garmin Nuvi 660
This adapter is better than the one that came with my Garmin Nuvi and works perfectly, at 1/2 the price. It doesn't light up like the original, but I consider that a feature.
Burned out after two weeks.
I ordered this replacement cable for my GPS car charger. It worked great for about two weeks, (I am on a cross-country road trip so I do use my GPS everyday, and I need it to work). After the two weeks were up, it burned out. It burned every fuse I replaced inside of it (which you shouldn't really have to do either). And I wound up having to get another one on the road. Not cool.

It does have a warranty, but I needed it to work right now, while I'm on the road. Not when I get home and have time to fill out the paperwork.
this charger does not work
this charger does not work. One end fits the cigarette lighter, the other end fits the Garmin just fine. Thats about it. No charging capabilities whatsoever, car off or on. Ive now decided to go with the real thing from Garmin...a couple extra dollars well worth the hassle of trying to return an item to an internet company.

Very good GPS
I love how easy this GPS is to use. The display is very good to read. I'm still not sure how to use the traffic feature.
Works great
Bought this for a road trip and we used it everyday. We were able to drive around in towns we had never been to without using a paper map or asking for directions. We also used the point of interest feature to find food, lodging and attractions. It worked perfect every time. We bought the one with the traffic feature but I probably wouldn't spend the extra money next time. Ads occasionally pop up on the screen when you are stopped. This is slightly annoying but since it only happens while stopped it is not a hinderance while getting directions.
Great deal!
I have really enjoyed my Garmin - we just received it a few weeks ago, and it works great! I haven't had a chance to play with all of the features yet, but the quality is excellent.
Great GPS with some Niggles
Pros:
Big Screen
US+Canada Map
Traffic info
Lane assist
Text to speech

Cons:
Traffic delay time estimate was off at times.
Touch screen wasnt calibrated.
Speaker cracked at max column.

We took this recently on our Pacific Northwest trip to BC and Washington State. It worked fairly well. I bought it mainly for its features set. Maps were fairly accurate, only missed 1 location, but it was a pier and im pretty sure addresses for large locations are usually not acurate, just like looking for a park, it might not have exactly what youre looking for. I liked the text to speech on the Nuvis more than the Tomtoms because the pronunciation is more consistent even if it is robotic. Lane assist helped alot, but be prepared ahead of time always as sometimes ramps could be short and you can easily miss it before the gps could recalcuate in time. I like the routing on the nuvi more than the new tomtom iqroutes. I like the fact that i can preview all my turns and not rely every second on the gps. Traffic info gave alerts, those were useful. I didnt find the delay timer very useful so i usually turn off the "avoid delays" feature in routing so that i could stay the current course even if it means traffic. Most of the cons could be easily worked around. I did a quick google and recalibrated the touch screen and it was much more responsive. the QWERTY keyboard layout should be avoided as the buttons are too cramped for the lcd. routing was fine, comparable to my old Nuvi 200. The device is fairly well rounded, not the best of breed, but its a solid gps system. I would take this system over one with BT since I do not have the gps out all the time so the bt would be useless.
Garmin nuvi1300 series
My hubby loves his gps and it is the best purchase that we've ever made.

Weird unpredictable,unreliable routing
I have been using Magellan maestro 3100 for few years and am very happy with it, but recently battery started losing charge quickly. Instead of spending money on new battery & also on newer map updates, I thought it will be much better to buy a new unit.

Since I had such a good experience with Magellan & familiar with their interface, I decided to stick to Magellan. After some digging and searching decided to get Maestro 4700 based on my needs. Basically I need GPS when I am travelling on vacation or navigating to unknown local address. I don't need it for daily commuting or traveling, so was not really looking for an expensive unit with lots of bells & whistles. I needed a good decent unit with strong routing & easy interface. 4700 appeared to fit the bill.

This unit turned out to be a real disappointment, sure it has good size screen, has Bluetooth, has AAA Tourbook etc but it failed at the most important aspect : Routing.

As soon as I received it, I charged it for few hours, updated AAA tourbook, did software update & after call to Magellan Customer service, got June 2010 map update free as part of 30 day free map update. Was able to pair my phone, interface was great, really liked ability add custom one touch favorites etc. It has usual features like where am I, POI search, multi destination routing etc.

So far so good, but when I took it out for a test drive, that's where things started going awry. It was asking me to turn on a street when I was already on the same street for almost 2 miles. Sometimes it could not recognize where I was, showed I was driving through a "green" zone like when in a parking lot or a ground etc while I actually was on a major road. One time it asked me to turn after few feet on a road which was not even remotely close by. No matter which option I tried shorter, fastest etc, it kept coming with completely weird routes, non existing roads, incorrect turns, wrong location status etc.

Just to make sure, I took my old 3100 along for comparison after I started noticing issues with 4700's routing, for same route 3100 showed everything correct, while newer 4700 was showing completely different route which did not make any sense.I did make sure I have excellent satellite availability etc while I was trying the unit. I even drained battery completely to reset the unit, but still kept having routing issues. I really wanted this to work , But even after trying for about 10 days on many different (known) routes, 4700 remained completely off base in its routing. Last night while I pulled in on my driveway, it still showed that I am in some circle which is approximately half a mile away from my house, I gave up.

Since I won't be able to trust this GPS unit's routing when I am driving in a unknown area, it defeats the purpose of buying GPS receiver. May be I got a lemon but I now have no choice than to return it. I will stick to my older 3100 for now.
Magellan Maestro 4700 Works Well
Good solid product. It doesn't alway route the way I'd like to go, but it's better than most navigation devices that I've used.

I'd buy this again simply based on the excellent user interface. My previous GPS, an HP device, had an interface that was so awful as to be unusable. This one is simple to use and understand.

I recommend this as a solid, easy to use product.
I love reliability
My Magellan 4700 is super in all aspects that I have used so far. I haven't use the blue tooth yet but, the funtionality in all other features are what I expected and more. I set it and it smoothly guides me to my destination. I like it when I know ahead of time wether I'm turning right or left, or I have to make a legal U turn. The mount is very good also, it stays and never falls ( I had that problem with TomTom).
Magellan Maestro 4700 - terrific!
This unit worked perfectly right out of the box. It's very intuitive to use with minimal need to consult the manual. A few things, however, could have been more accessible - battery status and signal strength as well as how to remove individual addresses when they were no longer useful. These were minor annoyances, given how accurate the directions have been in all my recent travels. I can't imagine going anywhere (new) without it. It's terrific!
Magellan Maestro 4700
We love the Magellan Maestro 4700. Now my husband will never get us lost again. You can't get lost. If you make a wrong turn, the Magellan will re-direct you once you make an unadvised turn. The screen is big and the color is vibrant.
