The Incredible Xbox 360
Ah, my incredible xbox.. I was late getting onboard 'NextGen.' Usually I do that on purpose when a console comes out so they have a couple years to work out the kinks and I end up with a better system for having waited. Well, that's exactly how it worked out in this case. Of course the funds have something to do with it too :P I did the same when the PS2 came out and I loved that thing and instead of going nextgen last year I got another PS2. When the nextgen consoles first came out I was much more drawn to the PS3 and picked up a PSP in anticipation of eventually getting a PS3. I have played on the 360 at friends houses here and there for the past few years and was always really impressed with it, but I just couldn't get over throwing down $300+ for something that was likely to break on me within a year or so of my purchase. So I was holding out for a PS3 (which I'm sure is a great system as well, for the record :)

So in April of this year I started looking at FPS games, which I particularly enjoy, and was really intrigued by what the 360 had to offer over the PS3 (mainly just the online experience in general). So I really started thinking about it again and asked all my friends and the 360 just fit what I was looking for in a nextgen console. So now the question was which one to get. Then along came Microsoft at E3 and I had all the answers. I waited 4 days after the announcement and went for it. It was a little crazy on Amazon because the 'availability' status of the console kept changing every few hours or so, but I got mine as promised before the expected delivery date and Amazon did an incredible job at shipping and everything else, as usual.

So onto the console itself: It is very stylish and just cool looking. The touch buttons are awesome but you can turn the console on and off via the controller, as goes for the disk tray, so you don't even need to touch the console if you don't want to. I have had no issues with the wireless, and gaming online is as awesome as everyone has made it out to be. I really don't care that I have to pay for xbox live, as it's really not that expensive and definitely worth it. I have also called xbox support a couple of times with just some general questions about warranty and so on and they were very helpful. Granted, I didn't need to reapair anything, but xbox support seems top notch.

For those who don't have an HDTV, I bought this monitor at Sams for $180 to go with my new toy:

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/office/monitors/premium/LS22B3UKFY/ZA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail

It works incredibly well and looks as good if not better than any HDTV out there. I would highly recommend gaming on a monitor if that suits you, but do your homework about what cables you will need. They can all be found on Amazon.

The few Gripes I have about this 360 console are as follows:

- In the short time I've had it (one month) it has frozen on me once during gameplay while playing Gears of War. While it was a little annoying, anyone who has gamed on a PC knows that freezing is just a part of life. I'm not really concerned about it at all or think there's a detrimental problem with the system.

- It does run pretty hot on the top vent (when sitting horizontally), which concerns me a little. So I set a fan on it to be extra cautious. Problem solved.

.. I thought there were more gripes, but no. That's all I can think of. I suppose I can sympathize with the owners of the previous xbox and certainly those who bought the console at launch. I would have been very annoyed had I taken the plunge a month before this console came out like I had planned. It just goes to show that good things come to those who wait. If you've been thinking about getting an xbox 360, do it. You're already here on Amazon reading my review, so you might as well. I highly recommend it; this console is AWESOME!
wow...
I got rid of my first Xbox 360 because it got the "Red Ring of Death", among many other problems. After Microsoft launched the new Xbox 360 S I thought all that was a thing of the past and decided to buy an Xbox 360 (the newest version) again, but just after a week I got the "Red Ring of Death". There's no way I'll buy another Xbox, that's it for me.
Great console and Great new look, design.....
Hi
I recently bought the new version and instantly liked it. it is great as usual and that glossy look is AWESOME. and more quite... I can't wait till the kinect comes out to play.

pros: Great new look, Less noise, Massive hard drive, Wireless
Cons: Only 1 remote (without rechargeable battery), need to buy xbox live membership for online, attracts lots of dust as it is in glossy black color :(

Have fun gaming dudes :)

Go microsoft go....

Cheers
Kiran
The Xbox 360 Slim
I was not sure if i wanted to get the new xbox 360 slim, seeing that it will be my 3rd xbox. After reading a lot of reviews online i decided to get one. Very happy with everything. I replaced my 1st gen xbox with a 20gb hard drive and no hdmi port. Start off by saying this thing is very quite when games are installed to your hard drive really can't hear a thing. Very easy to transfer your data over by a flash drive or using the new xbox transfer cable you can buy. The new black controller looks really nice and the system itself looks a ton better. Don't be fooled thinking this is a true slim model is it not, although it's noticeably smaller. When you turn on the xbox it has a internal speaker that makes the xbox sounds. It seems to look better using a hdmi cable now over component. The lighting effects seem to be a little better, and smother screen motion with less bur. The wireless works great played on both wire and wireless could not tell the difference note make sure you have a N wireless router if you want to game off wireless. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a new xbox that wants a bigger hard and wifi or needs a hdmi port on their xbox. This is a great time to buy a xbox if you never had one it's the hole package.
Improvement over the old one
I had the old Xbox 360 Premium which died from RROD just after this started to ship. This Xbox is a huge improvement in terms of noise and HD connectivity. My old Xbox lacked the HDMI output.

One thing to note is that an HDMI cable or a component cable is not included, just the standard definition cables are included. That was kind of a bummer, since the old Xbox came with component cables.

All in all, it has good incremental improvements, but if you already own a 360, I wouldn't upgrade.

Great Controller, Even Better Price!
Controller came exactly as described. The price is outstanding!! Might want to check into the rechargeable battery packs because these controllers tend to "eat up" the 2 AA batteries required.
Best Xbox 360, Windows controller I've used
The official Microsoft Xbox 360 controller is simply the best controller for the Xbox that I've used. I've tried the 3rd-party controllers, from Mad Catz and others, and they just don't feel as good, and aren't as responsive.

This controller is also the best gamepad for use with a computer, provided you have the wireless usb receiver that comes with the "for Windows" version of the controller. As more and more games natively support the Xbox controller, and natively show the buttons for abilities, just like you'd see on the Xbox 360, the Xbox has replaced my other gamepads. It's just easier to use, and feels like it was made for the system. I bought 2 standard wireless controllers, and 2 "for Windows" wireless controllers, so now I have a dongle for each computer, and 4 controllers that can be quickly synched to either computer or the Xbox.

Comfort wise, I didn't like the Xbox controller at first, having been used to Sony's PS2 controller. Now that I have both Xbox and PS3 controllers, and use both regularly, I find the Xbox controller to be much more ergonomic, more comfortable to hold, and more comfortable to use. The controller lets you naturally wrap your hands around it, and the triggers are a pleasure to squeeze, where as the PS3 controller now feels un-natural, and the triggers are a little annoying.

Performance wise, this wireless controller uses the 2.4GHz wireless range, the same as most cordless headsets, 802.11b/g wireless networks, and even the same as some microwaves. I haven't had any problems with at my house, but 2 of my friends have constant problems with controllers disconnecting mid-play. Sometimes it's just an annoyance, but sometimes it happens so often that it's unbearable. The PS3 controller's bluetooth connection avoids these problems, and is much faster to start up and connect.

One can only hope that Sony adopts Microsoft's ergonomic styling for the Dualshock 4 controllers, and Microsoft adopts Sony's bluetooth connection for the Xbox 720 controllers.
Great controller but battery could be better.
Hey all this is Sam AKA Para in the gaming review community. This is one of many gaming reviews I will be starting for Amazon, so I hope you enjoy. Going to be talking about the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Red Wireless Controller and Play & Charge Kit which I have to say feels well. It is sort of light but durable. After playing for long hours I notice no pain in my hands, just the way the designed this controller it just fits right in your hands and is not stressing out you muscles or having you to curve your hands around it just to hold it. The vibration feedback is very well and is not super strong that it feels like a back massager or making your hands go numb, but it is not also so weak that you cannot even feel it. It gives just the right amount. The triggers are in just the right position and have the perfect lift to them for easy access. The joy sticks are perfectly assessable and once again do not strain your hands trying to use them. Battery life is not the best though, it could use a slight improvement but that is minor. I suggest if you don't need the vibration to turn it off and save battery. Overall the controller is very nice and easy to use. Good work Microsoft for changing the hamburger shaped Xbox controller to this much easier to handle one. Hope this review helps and look forward for my other game reviews.
Great controller
This controller works excellently and feels better in the hands than the one that comes with the XBOX.
controller

Definetly worth it for less than retail
These cards are worth it if you can get them under the retail price to save a bit of cash and so you don't have to use your Credit Card on Xbox live.
Good deal
It's a points card for slightly cheaper than you can find in WalMart, Target etc. Type in code & it works, not much more to it.
Amazon has great deals on these cards.
Normally you have to pay 19.99 plus tax for one of these cards. I snagged one for under 17 bucks with no tax. You need these cards if you're buying DLC for your xbox games.
Best option for buying points
For some reason, Amazon's price on the 1600 point card is the best deal around (even better than the price they offer on the 4000 point card when you look at points-per-dollar), so if you are looking for the best deal on points without delving into the fishy "pre-loaded silver account" market, this is it.
Does what it says on the tin.
I saved about 10% purchasing my 4000 microsoft points from Amazon rather than from Microsoft. I'm not sure what else Amazon would like me to say about this. It is a cardboard card with a code that is worth 4000 microsoft points. I got the card, opened the little window, entered the code I saw there into the correct screen on my xbox 360 and WHAM, I suddenly had 4000 points more than I'd had previously. So yeah, it worked.

External hard drive:Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures!
Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures!
Coming this holiday 2010, Kinect will turn YOU into the controller for games and entertainment, and it will work with every Xbox 360. Unlike 2-D cameras and controllers, Kinect tracks your full body movement in 3-D, while responding to commands, directions, even a difference of emotion in your voice. You are the controller. Kinect provides a whole new way to play. It uses a sensor to track your body movement and recognize your face, even listen to your voice. If you know how to move your hands, shake your hips, or speak, you and your friends will be able to jump instantly into any Kinect experience. Full-body play. Kinect provides a new way to play where you use all parts of your body — head, hands, feet and torso. When you're the controller, you don't just control the superhero, you are the superhero. Full-body tracking allows the Kinect sensor to capture your movement, from head to toe, to give players a full-body gaming experience. Personalized play. Kinect provides an in-game experience in which the player’s face and voice are recognized. Greet and speak to characters in the game, or simply step into view of the sensor to log into Xbox LIVE and connect with friends. Kinect is smart enough to remember voices and faces. Fun has never been so personalized. Off-the-couch play. Kinect provides gameplay that gets you off the couch, on your feet and in the fun. Each Kinect experience is designed to get players moving, laughing, cheering and playing together. Kinect makes social gaming off-the-couch fun.

Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. Outstanding shoot 'em up
This game is amazing. It's not for the weak at heart. The language and graphics are pretty rough. But the gameplay and the effects are amazing.

The desert scenery is phenomenal. My family rides dirt bikes in the desert and the scenery looks completely authentic. I wish this studio would do an MX/ATV game, because they obviously know how to do desert settings.

It would be nice if this game let you choose your character. The main character is cool, but he's a guy. It would be nice if girls could play as a woman instead.

Other than that, I have no complaints.
Amazing, despite the glitches!
Red Dead Redemption is a great game-just to be blunt. The story is amazing and full of surprises. It ends after you would expected to end, and the end was pretty surprising, to say the least and not give anything away. The story follows John Marston as he goes on an epic quest of revenge against his former outlaw friends, a quest that he has to complete to have the government erase all his previous sins and allow himself and his family to live in peace. Overall the story is really enjoyable and has the ability to really draw you in, although after watching some other people play the story, I see that if you don't do what you are really "expected" to do you might kind of diminish the impact of some events by doing weird random things, running away from people who are trying to talk to you, skipping scenes, etc...

The format of the game ought to be familiar to anyone who is a fan of Grand Theft Auto (GTA). You have to start out at the bottom of the chain of information and get passed along doing missions and helping out various characters in order to progress and eventually find more information about the people you are after. There is a nice variation of missions, it isn't just the same thing over and over again. There are also strangers you encounter throughout the world who give you little side missions that generally take some time to complete. That is, you might have to check back in in a few days to see what's up, or gather things that might not all be available yet, etc... I found their approach to this to be fairly unique, and the little stories that are the stranger missions are fairly interesting, or at least mildly amusing, and add a neat element to the game.

The world is pretty huge, and two more sections of the map eventually open up as you progress, just like in GTA. Other than missions, there are a few mini games such as poker, blackjack, liar's dice, arm wrestling, etc..., and jobs you can do at different locations (either breaking horses, or night watch jobs). You ride a horse to get around for the most part, and you can go out into the wilderness and lasso and then break another horse through a little minigame if you so choose. Once you have broken a new type of horse you can go to a general store and buy the deed for that breed and then you can spawn another one if yours dies, which is convenient. Another thing that is convenient is that you can whistle for your horse and it will come when it is called, which is pretty cool. You can also drive stagecoaches and various wagons and carts if you so choose, and have epic cart/whatever wrecks (horses don't crash too easily, although they do die if you fall off a big enough cliff). One of the funnest parts of Red Dead Redemption is just riding around shooting things, especially since the Dead Eye targeting idea from the original game has been implemented in this and it makes shooting things pretty easy and epic. There is literally a plethora of animals to that you can shoot, skin, and then sell their various parts in town and make yourself lots of virtual cash (just prepare yourself to hear Marston state, "This is dirty", "This one's messy", etc... over and over again during the skinning cutscenes). You also have to watch out for predators, even when you are on your horse, because some of them can take out your horse with one attack, if you aren't careful. Thankfully, the predators aren't too hard to kill, especially if you have plenty of Dead Eye left (it drains as you use it). You can also shoot people and cause problems and get the Marshal's after you, similar to how GTA works, but I don't know if they are quite as fun to mess with in this as they are in GTA, since all they can really do is ride their horses at you. It's still pretty amusing for a time though. You can also clear gang hideouts repeatedly, if you're into that, and replay missions to try to get a better score. There's probably more stuff to do that I'm leaving out, but that's surely enough to illustrate that there's a lot to do.

The graphics in Red Dead Redemption are really good, considering it is an open world game, it's like a slight improvement on GTA IV graphics plus they don't have to make all those buildings and everything, so that probably helps some. The environments are gorgeous and you can see for miles if you are on high ground, which is really neat. The characters look great, although some characters could arguably use a little more polish, it's nothing terrible. The AI of the people wandering around is about the same as GTA IV's and they still tip over a little too easily. The sound in this game is amazing, everything sounds great on surround sound, it even confused my dog a few times. There are also a few turning points in the game where they played an actual song, with singing, instead of just normal background music, which I found to be a really cool addition, and I feel it did a great job of projecting the feeling of starting the next leg of the journey.

The online multiplayer mode is awesome. You basically have free roam of the map, but with other people also roaming the map. You generally have to shoot people when you first see them or else you will end up getting shot, and that can get annoying, but you can also posse up with other players and have some safety in numbers. There are a few online matches you can join in most of the towns, or you can just roam around shooting people, building up huge bounties, or clearing the gang hideouts from the single player with friends. When you play the multiplayer mode, you unlock different character skins, titles, weapons, horses, etc... as you level up. Also, Rockstar Games made their Social Club website, where, if you join, you get community challenges and some bonus stuff for the game, that, once your account is linked, appears in the games pause menu. Which is convenient since you don't have to check in on the website all the time, although the website is pretty snazzy.

So, basically, this game is great. The only thing that diminishes from this game is that there were numerous glitches that occurred while I was playing, and they were prominent enough that, if it were possible, I would probably give this game 4 1/2 stars (although it's not enough to constitute giving this amazing game 4 stars!). I don't want to go into specific detail on these glitches since they mostly occurred during missions, and I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, but suffice to say they were annoying. Additionally, the game froze up my 360 at least 3 times while I was playing through the story, causing me to have to restart my 360 and re-do the entire mission. I have also seen this happen twice when someone else was playing. Maybe I should have gotten it for the PS3, I don't know if it does any different on that system or not, but at least for the 360 version, which is what I am reviewing, there is sadly just a tad bit too much glitchiness for it to be considered perfect.
Fun game
It is a good game that I have been playing ever since I got it.
Red Dead Rockstar Redemption
I don't typically enjoy games that are developed by Rockstar. I never liked any of the GTA franchise. However, I found that Red Dead Redemption was similar without being GTA on a horse. People who enjoy westerns and like a large free roam environment can become the ultimate cowboy in this game. There are 57 story missions which take place in the southern U.S. or Mexico and they take an enjoyable amount of time to complete. If you want to complete the game though you need to work toward the free roam challenges that involve hunting, gambling, and exploring the areas that are easily overlooked.
I recommend this game, with the warning that it has a slow, realistic pace. It takes quite a while for the game to get rolling and with the side quests you can find yourself doing sidequests or main quests that don't directly lead to storyline goals.
Came to me scratched
the game came to me scratched and it took a few tricks to get working. I actually had to go out any buy stuff to fix the scratches with. very disappointed.

Hope this review helps and look forward for my other game reviews.

call of duty mw 2
it is the best game on the xbox 360 it will keep you playing for hours and hours try this one out
Fun, but be warned
As much as I don't want to repeat what other reviews have said, I feel that i must bring it up in my review. This game has been one of the most anticipated games to be released in 2009. With that is going to be a lot of hype from almost every person. As with any game that comes out there is going to be problems with the game, whether it be in singleplayer, spec ops, or multiplayer, and i will address these issues later in my review. I will break up the my review into three parts, each with two sub parts. Singleplayer, Spec Ops, and Multiplayer. Each with Pros and Cons.

SINGLEPLAYER

The games campaign starts five years after the events of Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare takes place. Ultranationalists have taken control of Russian and one of Imran Zakhaev's (The main antagonist in COD4) former lieutenants, Vladimir Makarov, has begun a campaign of terrorism in Europe over the course of those five years. You will play as a number of characters, including a U.S. Marine, Taskforce 141 operatives, and a undercover CIA agent (which is the same character as you play the US Marine).

The Controversies surrounding the single player campaign includes the level "No Russian". This level revolves around a deep in cover CIA operative who has been place inside Makarovs posse. During this level you partake in the massacre of a Russian airport. NOTE: that you have the option to skip this level where it has very disturbing gameplay. this level has created a huge controversy issue in all part of the world (im talking about real life). if you go onto [...] and search for this game you will be able to find a more detailed page about what i am explaining. The rest of the game goes on front there. A Russian invasion lands of the home front of the United States due to the CIA agent loosing his cover by Makarov, thus the russians find out that a American was in the posse, and claim revenge on America. (what i have just said some player did not understand in the game). The game is fast paced, to say the least. It wont take long for the occasional gamer to finish it. The gameplay has about six hours in it. you could probably beat the game on normal in a day if you wanted to. Veteran is challenging, but not as much as in previous Call of Duty games.

PROS: -Graphics a amazing, gameplay in intense, simple controls, and you can get the hang of it rarely quickly.
CONS: - To short, some minor plot holes.

SPEC OPS:

Spec ops are a side co-op gameplay that makes up for the short storyline. These missions have nothing to due with the actual storyline of the campaign. various modes include stealth operations, defensives and offensive levels broken up in various difficulties. There isnt a really downfall for spec ops, its a lot of fun playing with someone on the couch next to you or one of your buddies online.

PROS: -fun, exciting, intense and challenging
CONS: -there is no matchmaking for spec ops (thats the only con i see about it.)

MULTIPLAYER:

This is going to be a big chunk of information that i am about to share with you.

The games multiplayer is one of the most popular. The game has a overall of 24 Primary Weapons, 19 secondary weapons, 16 perks, 7 pieces of Equipment, and 3 special grenades. This will keep you busy trying to unlock all the weapons attachments and various camouflages. My dilemma is that they should have put in a more variety of weapons. Specifically more Assault rifles, Submachine guns, and Sniper rifles. while multiplayer can be fun, i want to enjoy it a lot more than i actually can. and the persons fault for this is other people.

If someone finds good weapon they will exploit its every stat, until it becomes a weapon that everyone will use and the balance of gameplay falls. A example of this weapons is the UMP .45 submachine gun. I have been sniped, and killed with this weapon too many times to count and i will refuse to use it. Its stats are better than most of the assault rifles and the ways that people abuse it are just pathetic.

As "balanced" as the game developers stated that this game would be...its not. Killstreaks are the reason for this. as is the Spawning system this game has. If the opposite team gets the chance they will call down airstrike after airstrike and chopper after chopper and AC130 after AC130 till it gets to the point where i can not spawn and live for ten seconds until being spawn killed. the "deathstreaks" suck because if they are getting spawn killed, well it doesnt really help them at all. Then you will find the players who cant be patient and have to hack their way into the game so that they can get all the emblems and titles to their profile. and they will Tenth Prestige Hack to get those. making the Legitimate players who have gotten those ranks themselves feel like their time was wasted.

And since Infinity Ward made over one billion dollars in revenue. and since they had to get more money for god knows why, you would have to pay 15 dollars to get the map packs. so all together the game and the map packs would be almost 100 dollars....really? BF BC2 lets you have free map packs to most players.

Overall i enjoy the multiplayer with my friends but not alone, the thing people would do to get kills are pathetic to say the least. Also i hate it when i get to play online a a little child is scream cuss words in my ears. Its RATED M FOR A REASON. MATURE PLAYERS ONLY! is that so hard to get around parents mind? but i guess if parents need to get it so that they can shut there child up and not discipline them, whatever.

As a whole i enjoy this game to a limit. I would recommend to a friend, but also warn them as well.
Great game for warriors
It is a tough game to master, but it presents interesting scenarios where war-like situations are recreated. If you enjoy some stress with your fun, this game is for you. Intense, fast paced and challenging.
Best Call of Duty
This is a great game. It's my favorite in the COD series and I recommend it for any COD fan!
Treyarch is better at the series
The game is fun, don't get me wrong, but I get bored with it. I find Treyarch's World At War to be a better Call of Duty. This game just sits on my shelf. Looking forward to Black Ops.
