This book was a disappointment to me because I thought it was a natural perfumery text. The majority of the recipes include chemical fragrance oils.

Nautica Blue cologne
Good smelling cologne - it has small amount of sweetness, small amount of "muskiness" - but it does not last very long.

Awesome
I bought it and liked it. Its simply awesome and considering the price its a deal. It suggested that shipping might take extra 2 days however I received it in 2 days.

Very good gift
The bottle is lovely for a gift for a man. It is large and creative. Smells very good for the price and the amount is wonderfuly. Beautiful box.

My other colognes are getting jealous
So I've tried the classic Nautica fragrance a few years back and don't remember being 'too' blown away by it but this stuff is just awesome. It isn't overwhelming and has a light, yet very enjoyable aroma. I seriously leave it in my truck and use it all the time. Maybe that's not good for it but I love using a spray or two before I go wherever I'm headed. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Refreshing
I had used this product in the 1970's and moved on. When I remembered it in 2009 I wanted to try it again. The fragrance retuned to me and I now enjoy St. John's Bay Rum all over again. Although strong at first; the fragrance dissipates slowly. Nice choice for evening.

St. Johns Bay Rum
I bought this for a very close friend who could not find it anywhere. He was so excited. he has since passed away, but I will never forget the smile on his face when he got it. it does smell very sensual. A great cologne for men.

Hard to find but worth the search
I used this fragrance in the 1960s but could not buy it in any of the stores after that. I fortunately found it on Amazon a couple of years ago. As before, I like the fresh, clean fragrance and also like that my wife really likes it, too.

I also purchased the 8 oz. version but that only is intermittently available on Amazon. If you are searching that special after-shave that gives you that fresh, clean bracer after you shave, this is the product for you.

Man's fragrance
Difficult to find product, but worth the search. Appeals to men and pleasnt for women to be near.

Not what it use to be
It had been quite a time ago that I purchased St. John Bay Rum previous to this purchase. It was much more aromatic and the scent lasted longer back then. I will go back to Royall Bay Rum for less money and same lasting power. Too bad they had to ruin a good thing.

This bee is a'buzz...
Having recently been turned onto this duo (I just downloaded and reviewed their EP `One Too Many Hearts'), I have become engulfed in their music. Getting my hands on their EP `Please Clap Your Hands', I am becoming more and more elated that I stumbled upon them.

I only wish that I had known of them sooner!

I was instantly enticed by the albums opening track, `Polite Dance Song', which channels a bit of Lily Allen (an artist I am totally in love with). In fact, what these guys do on both `Polite Dance Song' and the next track, `Man', is very Lily Allenesque. The bouncy vibes to these songs, accompanied by Inara George's delicate (yet commanding) vocals, make them sure-fire standouts. `Polite Dance Song' flows with an effortless vibe, something that weaves itself in and out of your eardrums without much force (even the chorus pickup is very subtle), but it stays mesmerizing throughout. `Man' has a more `pop' feel, the powerful beat making an impact as well as George's whispery chorus (not to mention her slick verse rhymes).

The 60's come to swinging life on the infectious dance track `So You Say', an upbeat, bubbly track that just coats the stereo with gushing amounts of pure pop pleasure.

`The Races' has a very different feel, something calmer and much mellower. The spoken word chorus structure is simply stunning in its ability to completely engage the listener with a raw earnestness. You feel this song deeply, and it shows a different side of The Bird and The Bee, a stark difference to the balance of the EP.

And then there is the dreaded cover song. Like with `One Too Many Hearts', this album contains a sore spot in the form of a cover track. This time it's of `How Deep Is Your Love', made famous by The Bee Gees. I'm not a fan of The Bee Gees, and I don't really care for the original song much, and so I can't say that this is a bad version (it may even be better than the original) but it's just an odd fit (and slightly boring) for me. It has a very authentic (simply stylized) feel to it, almost dreamy, but it just doesn't capture for me all that this duo is capable of.

It's forgettable.

Oh well; it's a small blemish on an EP chuck full of stylish and memorable tracks.

I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS COMING FROM AN INDIVIDUAL. IT WAS A PRESENT, AND IT DIDN'T HAVE THE BOX. IT CAME WRAPPED IN NEWSPAPER. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. IF I HAD KNOWN IT WAS NOT COMING FROM A STORE, I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT.

Hooked
Was never into music like this before, but I've since changed my mind after this purchase.

Ok I'll clap mine
Perhaps Inara was listening to her father's band (Little Feet), but you sure wouldn't know it listening to this. But while none of their originals or covers even hint at bar band boogie and furocity, it certainly portrays a beguiling shagadelic hipness favorably to the tried and true romantic ballads that the soporific 70's Saps were cranking out in droves.
It is here where Inara George completely out does herself with a bewilderingly nailed version of an otherwise bland 70's disco ballad How Deep is Your Love. It works on every level. It is a question every girl askd her man on their wedding night (provided they waited that long to consumate). Instead of squirming to the Bee Gees falsettos asking you how deep your love is, you are taken in by the tip toe through the air approach Imara's waifish feminine voice delivers in the verses. She then presses the issue singing more longingly and assuringly in the chorus. The lyrics resonate like never before revealing the genuine feeling that was once lost in a wash of Stigwood production syrup way back when. While many may think there is no where else for them to go with what they've done so far they certainly hit the watershed with this one song. Let's hope love will keep this next-gen Captain and Tenielle together. (just no muskrat love, ok).

Retro Shmetro
If Ivy is the indie Carpenters (Dominique Durand is a dead ringer for Karen Carpenter (see "Edge Of The Ocean") then The Bird And The Bee is The Captain And Tennile - - down to Inara George's coiffure and backup vocals, particularly on "The Polite Dance Song." Heck, they even cover Bee Gees faithfully and without a trace of irony, just to prove how retro-cool they are. It might also mean that The Carpenters, The C&T and Bee Gees were decades ahead of their time(s). File under Extremely Listener Friendly. Edge of the Ocean
