Beautiful pictures but goes to sleep to fast.
For the price the photos are beautiful. I tend to use disposable batteries because they're easier to manage when planning a day of shooting the camera. The ONLY thing I do not like about this camera is that it goes into "sleep" mode too quickly. I've missed many, many shots by raising the camera to point and shoot only to have to half-press the shutter button to wake the camera up, only to have missed the good shot. I use this camera mostly for photos of my young grandson, on the job, as well as the movie clip feature. I plan to replace this camera with the same one whenever I need to but it bugs me when the camera snoozes on me.

Nikon L22
I had no problems with delivery, in fact the package arrived 2 days early. The camera (with Ikelite housing) is going to be a nice asset to my business as we take many underwater photos for the projects we do. The vibration reduction feature is an added bonus, as it is hard to find a solid platform while diving, to take your shots. So far I am very pleased with the overall outcome.

Just for taking pictures of family and friend events, and I've discovered the video feature. The picture quality is amazing! I'm very pleased with this purchase!

Takes good pictures when the flash comes on
This camera is OK. It takes a pretty good picture when the flash works but that's very inconsistent. For $100 it's not bad. I have heard great things about Nikon and this hasn't held up to that hype. My $50 Kodak easy share was better then this camera.
I would pass on this and get something else.

good for the money. still shots can be blurry if not focused for a second. not like the 35mm, but clarity is sufficient.

LCD didn't work and shipping was late
I had a bad experience purchasing my Nikon Coolpix P100. I paid extra $26 for the two day delivery so I would have camera for my kids first day of school. Amazon failed me. They took three days for delivery, so I had to take photos with my blackberry. When I did received the camera today the LCD monitor only displays a bright white screen. The view finder works fine, but when you switch back to LCD mode it shows the white screen again. Poor quality from Nikon and poor service from Amazon. I'm returning the camera.

Some great features some poor design
First, I like the 26 mm to 675 mm (26X ) optical zoom, yet why did they create the lens cap off only to turn it on? Then, I really selected this P100 for the variable 3" LCD screen, but it's not as flexible as the 8400 or 8800 smaller LCD screen. So far the features, menu's and control layout are easily accessed and function for me flawlessly. High 1080 video is excellent, but the still images in JPEG have only (3) savings selects low/norm/fine would have been nice to maintain the Extra Fine settings I have on the 8800/8400. In addition, the P100 ISO lowest setting is 160, compare to the 8800/8400's lower ISO setting of 50. The comparison of images saved in Extra Fine at ISO 50 is very apparent in details and sharpness compared to P100's which seem a little fuzzy. Plus, having no hot shoe for accessories such as external flash or bubble level is another demerit, another demerit for no ability to utilize any sort of screw on filter such as UV/polarization or neutral density.

In defense, it has a great lens, lots of zoom here, focus systems are terrific, Video twice..no 3X's better than 640x480 and with a instant video select button. Finally, the shutter release button is very very crisp compared to any digital compact I have had yet.

All for now, I'm keeping it. Gave it only 4 stars for Nikon needs to get a grip on total design.

Great camera
We bought this camera for taking pictures of wild life without getting too close( birds, wolves, alligators, bears, buffalos, etc). We are not professional photographers but this camera makes it seem as though we are. The menues are intuitive and the results are striking. It is a large, heavy camera ( though not as large, bulky as a SLR), nevertheless, my husband and I are taking it to Italy with us because we know that the pictures will be wonderful with no wasted opportunities. We would certainly buy this camera again.

Will never buy Nikon again
I have always been a Canon girl but heard such good things about Nikon I thought I would give it a try. I used to have a Canon Powershot, which I was very happy with, but kept upgrading until I got a professional-grade camera (Mark ii). I needed an inexpensive "daily" camera to keep in my purse and thought this looked like a good camera, especially after reading all of the reviews. I used this Nikon at a concert and was about ready to chuck it across the building. It would freeze up and get confused when trying to focus on the performers. I had to shut it down and turn it on again. If you have the lens cover on it will give you an error and you have to turn it on and off again. This is not necessary - if you can't see anything in the viewfinder the lens cap is obviously on! At one point it took an entire series of shots even though I only pushed the button once. At one point there was some kind of digital line appearing in a bunch of my pictures. If you are looking for a good quailty point and shoot camera, don't waste your money - get a Canon Powershot!!

Good step up!
The Coolpix P100 is a very versatile camera which can produce excellent photos. I reviewed multiple cameras in my search for my new addition, including standard point and shoots and SLRs. This camera is highly rated by consumer reports (Aug. 2010) in all areas.

I was looking for a camera that could still be used with automatic settings but also had the options to be in control of settings. This camera has numerous settings for different situations that suit the beginner to the person, such as myself, who is trying to become a better photographer. This is a camera that you can learn how to manipulate settings to create photos that you are seeking. I think I will be more knowledgeable and ready for an SLR when the time arises.

Pros
High quality photos, sturdy feel, user friendly menus and functioning buttons. The LCD screen moves which means I don't have to lay on the ground to shoot a low, upward facing photo. I just adjust the LCD screen. Great zoom range (26x) which goes well beyond the standard 3x you normally get.

Cons
Zoom is a little touchy so you have to work at nudging it to not have it zoom really quick. You also can't take your battery out and charge it seperately which suprised me. You can either charge it via USB port on your computer or use the adaptor to charge at the wall. Either way your camera is sitting out exposed while charging and that makes me nervous.

Blurry images and annoying features
I'm not a professional photographer, but as far as amateur point and click family photography goes, I've owned several digital cameras and have shot many family photos in all sorts of conditions and would also consider myself pretty tech savy. Of all the cameras I've ever used, the Nikon L110 is the most dissapointing. When I took the camera outside and shot still photos of birds and flowers, they came out beautifully. However, when trying to shoot pictures of my one year old in my house, images were consistenly coming out blurry and nothing I did fully remedied the problem. Some of the people who have given this camera positive reviews have suggested that perhaps those getting blurry images did not have it in auto mode, were not adjusting the white balance, etc. All I can say is that I tried all those things and more, went through the manual and read about all the features but could not find any setting that completely remedied the problem.

The bottom line is when your toddler is doing something cute, you do not have time to scroll through menus adjusting various functions. To me, auto mode suggests that the camera automatically finds the best setting and takes the picture. The worst part is that, there is another setting called "easy auto" that is supposed to do just that, but when I tried it the results were even worse. Sitting five feet away from my son in his high chair eating peas, with all the lights on, and the images were so blurry as to be unusable.

A few other features were also annoying enough to mention: the lens cap is a seperate piece that you have to manually place on the lens rather than it automatically being covered when you turn the camera off. Ditto with the flash, you have to manually pop it out for flash pictures. And although some people might prefer this, I think its worth mentioning that it takes AA batteries rather than having a rechargeable unit (which is what I prefer- saves money and rechargeables have a longer life).

A great little camera.
The Nikon Coolpix L110 is a great little camera for people who are nervous about buying one of those "confusing" and expensive DSLR's. It takes fabulous pictures and at 12.1 megapixels, you can enlarge your photos to just about any size. The 15X zoom is nifty as well. The macro feature works pretty well, but you have to get pretty close for the autofocus to work. That can make shooting insects difficult (but not impossible though). There are many shooting modes like Sport, Landscape, Smart Portrait, and....you get the idea. The only mode that is missing is Manual mode, which may be a major con to some, but the only complaint I have is that you can't take time lapse shots due to lack of ability to change the shutter speed manually. I use my old camera for that. Oh well. For $200 I won't let that sour me to this camera (my old camera actually cost more). A minor con is that the flash doesn't flip up by itself when needed. The camera tells you to raise it, but I've found that it's just easier to raise it from the beginning. It just takes getting used to. No big deal. The last minor con is that the 3" LCD screen automatically shuts down after only 20 seconds or so and takes a few seconds to come back up when you hit a button. I missed a few shots due to that in the beginning, but I just started pressing the shutter button half way down periodically so I don't miss as many opportunities. There is no eyepiece or viewfinder on this camera either. You point and shoot through the LCD screen. I was worried about that, but I find that it hasn't effected my pictures at all. The screen is bright and clear. I found the neck strap to be limiting considering that you'll want the camera off your neck due to the point and shoot nature of it. I ditched it and spent ten bucks on a DSLR wrist strap. It's soooo much easier. I can't comment on the video feature because I haven't used it and have no intention of using it. I have a camcorder for that. LOL. The battery life is FANTASTIC! I use Energizer Ultimate lithiums (it takes 4) and I've shot over 800 shots and just got my first battery warning today. No complaints there. I recommend this camera highly if you're looking for a cheaper camera that still takes great pictures. I hope this review is helpful to most of you. I know I'm no scholar. I'll try to include some of my pictures if I can.

Great over all camera
Over all, I am very pleased; great portability and photo quality, but I am a little disappointed with the clarity of long range shots.

not the kind of camera you just pick up and shoot but has alot of features and once you learn it a good deal for the money. very lightweight

The best camara ever
The clearest pictures and the fastest shutter button for a digital. I swear it could be an slr. There is not a viewfinder, which dissapointed me, but the quality and the speed I can take pictures surpasses that. I almost did not get it for that reason, This is the best camera I have ever owned!

Very impressed with the picture quality! The slim shape of the camera makes it easier to store when your on the go as well.

Good value for money. Very compact and handy. Little drawbacks.
First of all I think its a great camera for the price.
I have explored other cameras in this price section and finally chose this.
I am happy with the choice that I made.
Its very slim and very easy to carry around.
The best part that I liked about this is the ability to charge from PC USB port.
It has some latest features like blink detection, smile detection, enhanced lighting etc.
Infact, these are some of the driving factors to settle for this.

Of course, is fair to not expect everything for this price.
Nonetheless, the drawbacks should be listed so that people know what they are into.
The drawbacks that I feel are
- Low light photography is not that good
- Difficulty in auto focus in some scenarios
- Shorter battery life (I think 200 shots). Can't expect more from a small battery.

I love this camera
I love all the features and different scene settings. I am in love with this camera and I think it was a great investment I even got square trade warranty with it.

Nikon CoolPix S3000
Before I bought this camera I did a lot of research on digital cameras. I narrowed it down to three brands. Canon, Nikon, and Sony. It took a very long time to make a decision since I didn't want to buy crap. I eventually settled in the Nikon brand because I am very familiar with its features and camera functions. I was replacing a cheaper older model of a Nikon Coolpix L10. So, I was definitely going spend a little over $100 for this camera, but then again cameras have come a long way since the 2007. Even if I didnt buy the S3000 I knew I would get something better than my older camera due to the advancement of the compact camera technology.

This camera is great for everyday/events picture taking. After having the camera for a few days, I tested it out when I went to a family reunion. I got many compliments and inquiries about where i got the camera from. I believe I took about 100 pics in the two days spanning the family reunion.

Camera Features:

I took pics using a wide variety of the camera's features. The micro mode was pretty cool, the camera was able to focus on the subject and the picture did not come out blurry.

It was pretty easy to take a pic in panorama mode. At first when I took the pics that would make up the panorama pic, I wasnt sure how the whole pic would come out, but the panorama maker software that comes with the did wonders. Once you out the pieces of the panorama pic in the correct order the software makes the panorama picture for you. Now that I know that I made a great panorama photo I will be using this feature very much in the future.

This camera definitely tells you if someone blinked in the photo after the photo has been taken and you can always opt to take another pic. Continuous shot selecter is also a nice feature. You can choose to take 3 continuous shots or 16 continuous. Pics in low-light or darkness are excellent and always give light exposure buy the flash and orange light on the front of the camera. I took a picture in my room with the only source of light in the room being light from a television and the picture came out as if a ceiling light was on.

Other features that are nice are skin-softening, smart portrait(recognizes faces), 17 scene modes including panorama, subject tracking

Video:
For a compact camera, the video quality was great. The sound quality was also excellent inside the video too. Playback on my laptop was seamless. You could hear words and sentences very well in the background of the video. It's NOT HD, but I could make out everyone in the video and nothing at all was blurry.

Battery is a plus since you can charge it, as oppose to change AA batteries all the time. The charge is very short as well.
Definitely get a case for this camera, it is very compact, slim, and small. I have a case logic compact digital camera case. I bought my case at Walmart for $7 and cents. I feel like my camera is very well protected.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase of the Nikon Coolpix s3000. Its a great everyday camera for the busy college student or for someone who just wants to capture life's moments.
Definitely buy this camera, it well worth your money and you will not be disappointed.

Camera to take everywhere (just about)!
I'm really enjoying my new Nikon Coolpix S3000 camera. Although, I have a very nice semi-pro camera it is just too bulky to take everywhere. My new camera slides in my purse and shirt pocket with no bulk or fuss. And to be really honest I sometime forget that I'm even caring it. It is easy to use with great resolution. The included lithium battery is wonderful and last a long time and is always ready to go like me. I love taking pictures of everything and Nikon Coolpix S3000 allows me to capture all the wonderful moments in life. The only thing is I can't take snorkeling. I guess I will have to buy one of those disposable waterproof cameras for that.

Awesome Camera :-)
Let me start off by saying that my last camera was a 3.5 MP and it was good for what I used it for but I let it bounce off the floor one to many times and it has died. That is when I started to look around for other easy to use good quality cameras. I looked at a lot of my friends cameras and started to read all the reviews.
One of my friends had the Nikon L20 and he loved it. I tried it out too and loved it but I then found out that the L22 was replacing the L20. I asked around and found a friend that had the Nikon L22 and he let me use it for a weekend. What a very nice camera. It did everything I wanted it to do and then some. All the pictures and videos looked awesome to me and I did not have one problem with it at all. All the pics were sharp and focused. What more could you want? East to get batteries! Yup this camera uses AA batteries and I had a boat load of them. Everything in my house seems to use AA batteries so a long time ago I switched everything in my house to rechargeable NiMH AA batteries. They last forever in this camera. Say if you were at a wedding or something and your batteries run out. Just go to your local corner store and get a few easy to find AA batteries or just bring a few extra from home. Life is easy for me. I hate the proprietary batteries that come with most cameras. The other good thing about this camera is it uses standard SD and SDHC memory cards. I got a 8GB SDHC card for $19.00 bucks. It gave me something like 2,200 available pics to take at 12MP. Needless to say I purchased this camera in sliver from Amazon.com and I take it everywhere with me. Remember it is a $100.00 dollar camera and not a $500.00 dollar camera. It doesn't have all the high end features like touch screen but it has everything I want and it takes really nice pics. I don't think you'll go wrong with the Nikon L22. Get it. Trust me :-)

Excellent Camera
The 3" view screen is the best. Very easy to use and takes great pictures.

Good quality pictures from a basic camera
I needed a replacement camera, but didn't have a lot to spend, so this Nikon was my choice. I have had it for a month, and I have been very happy with the image quality, from inside to outdoors, and especially close-ups. The camera does not have a lot of complicated features, but the settings work well. I don't use the easy auto setting very much, because it doesn't usually pick the appropriate setting. But I have had good results with the automatic setting, and choosing my own scene mode like macro or sports. I often turn off the flash for better results, and the pictures do not get blurry like on my old camera. The zoom works very well, even after you go past the optical zoom and into digital. The only slight issue I have found is that it is sometimes slow to take the shot and save it so that you can take the next one. This seems to be a Coolpix thing, because my last one did it too. However, my final comment would be on how great the video quality is. I was impressed with both the sound and image quality of the few I've taken so far. If you are looking for an affordable basic digital camera, then I highly suggest the Coolpix L22.

Terrific camera, great features, amazing photos!
This is a great camera for everyday use, vacation shots, sports photos, and more. We take low-light, no flash photos with this on the "sports" setting for dance recitals and plays. The photos turn out terrific, and people always ask what camera we use because they are so impressed with the clarity of the shots.

This camera has numerous features and settings. The navigation between settings is pretty intuitive, and the instruction manual has lots more ideas too. It has good video capability for capturing something in a video file when you don't have a camcorder handy. You don't need special software to upload photos from this camera - I have a card reader in my computer to do all that.

The camera does a good job conserving battery life. We use rechargeable AA batteries without any problems for hundreds of photos per charge. It's compact and fairly lightweight, and it fits into a shirt pocket with ease.

The large screen makes reviewing photos easy, and deleting ones from the camera is simple with just a touch of a button plus an "are you sure?" question to keep you from potentially erasing something in error.

The 3.6x optical zoom is an improvement over the previous Nikon Coolpix we had, so this is now the favorite camera in my home! If you've had a Coolpix in the past and are thinking about getting a newer version, definitely do it! You'll find the operations and menu choices very similar to what you're used to, but with added improvements that you'll appreciate.

We've not had any problems with the battery cover on this camera or the previous Coolpix cameras we still own. If you break the battery cover, it's time for a new camera, unfortunately. But it's very sturdy and reliable, so we've never worried about it much.

Nikon camera

Best digicam
A wonder digicam. Even a novice can become an expert with such details on the menu. If you have a passion for photography this a never-miss cam.

High maintence camera!!
The first one stopped holding a charge and I had a hard time getting it to turn on. The second one lost it's charge and I couldn't get it to turn on at all. The third one, I took it out of the box and it wouldn't even turn on the first time. Done! So I purchased a Panasonic-ZR3 which is also 14mp, 10X zoom and 25mm lens. It's also cheaper. I loved the Panasonic Lumix I had before.

Besides the fact that it wouldn't turn on, there were so many things about this camera I didn't like. (I used the first one for about 3 months before it stopped working.)

The flash is such an obvious flaw I can't believe it went to production. If you hold the camera with two hands, a finger naturally goes over the flash, which then can't pop up. You get used to it, but never mind giving the camera to someone else to shoot the picture unless you explain not to put their finger there....because they will every time....and you lose the picture you were trying to get, or have to do it over.

The on button is tiny and inverted into the camera. So even if the battery charges correctly, it usually took several pushes to get it to come on.

The shutter in front of the lens constantly stuck open or closed.

The video quality is so poor it's almost not worth using. The mic is on top of the camera.

It can only be charge with a USB cord. Which is cumbersome if you have to recharge away from home.

The camera just overall is unreliable, flimsy, and unpredictable. The pictures are great, no doubt. But I don't think that's the camera, but the 14 mp. Very high maintenance camera!!

Nikon s8000 provided fantastic photos on my vacation
I have no complaints about this camera. I am not a pro photographer, but I have always liked keeping video records and this camera has been great. The picture quality is fantastic. I can't think of any complaints about this camera.

Not Pleased!
I spent tooo much on this Nikon. I am very disappointed with the body frame and the picture quality. Too expensive for the pictures that it takes. Even in my purse, some how, the metal around the pop up flash got bent in and I had to do a quick fix myself and I did a good job on my own repair..bent it back into shape using a cloth and needle nose pliers. I had to remove the plastic side pannel first. Cheaply built. It's a major shame. All my other digital cameras never...never had a problem being in my purse. But, I never had a pop up flash on a pocket camera either. Steer away from the pop up falsh cameras...just incase you don't want to have this problem.
The picture quality sucks. I didn't expect DSLR quality pics but I did expect better that what I get as far as the pics go. It's bigger than I wanted too. It looks good, the wide angle is ok, the START UP IS SLOOOW. LIKE A TURTLE IN A THREE LEG race. What ever. That is another major disappointment. By the time I wanted to take a fast shot, the shot would be lost due to a slow start up. All my other older digital cameras all started up quick and the all cost a lot less. But, you live, buy and learn.
If you don't mind these flaws, then go ahead and purchase one! but...I am putting my own warning lable on it. Just keep it in a safe carry case!

so far so good...
I've barely had this camera a month, but so far I do like it. It takes some quality pictures, which I admit I have to run around the settings a bit to get the best for what I want. I don't rely on the Auto, it usually doesn't give me the kind of picture I'm looking for. I've taken a couple videos, during the day and night. The day quality is amazing. The night... it's okay, I can still make out what everything is for the most part. My only issue with that is when I playback the video on the camera, the audio is EXTREMELY low. But as soon as I upload the video onto my laptop it's loud. Not sure if that's a camera flaw exactly. Other than that, I enjoy using this camera, take it on vacations, concerts and just nights out.

Great value
This camera is easy to use with a decent amount of features. It has HD picture quality and was a great value for the price.

Got what I wanted at this price
If you are on a very very tight budget (air ticket took the most part of my budget already) and don't want to pay anything over $100, this is the camera for this price. Below is my feedback after taking a couple of hundred pictures in a trip to Hong Kong.

Pros:
-low price
-pictures are of good quality (12mega) and over 95% of them were in good focus and clear. I printed about 150 pics (including Disney World in HK) on photo paper thru PhotoMax in Hong Kong for Mom in law and they came out very well. They look good on computer too.
-took about 10 video clips. They all worked well on computer when replaying (the camera does not have HD format support yet in its video).
-use AA batteries (I know some people do not like this as it makes the camera a little bigger - anyway just a little bigger only and OK with me) but I like it because if the battery runs out by accident and I have no replacement handy, I can purchase anywhere easily. BTW, I had 4 rechargeable AA batteries and this camera took 2 at a time and so most of the time I did not run into the need to buy new battery. You can take a lot of pics with just 2 batteries. The only one time we had to purchase new batteries was because we forgot to bring the other 2 batteries out and the ones in use ran out. This is much better than when a camera is using other type of batteries and you forgot to bring them out and you won't be able to use your camera in that case at all.
-flash is OK

Cons:
-the mode that has face detection just does not work. If you use that mode, the pictures you got would be extremely extremely disappointing and that's why some other reviews here said that the pictures from this camera were very poor and this was because they probably have selected that mode. If you stay away from using that and select other mode, the picture would come out just fine. With that said, you are not really getting all the features that you pay for here. Even this camera is cheap, the price per each working function may be more expensive than the others. But too bad, I cannot spend more than $100 for a camera in my budget and so I have to stick with it (still better than not being able to get a camera at all).
-the sports mode is only 1/250th second and its much slower than most of other camera (1/1000th second).

So if you cannot afford more than $100 like me and you only care about taking reasonable good pictures easily (no sports - sports mode is slow), this may be the right camera for you. If you can spend more than $100, you should check out something else and you can get better sports mode and higher zoom power, etc.

I needed a new camera that was a s easy to use as my old Canon. I read up on this camera and felt it was a user friendly, good quality camera. I'm finding that its very slow to make it available to snap another picture and a lot of time, the pictures have come out very fuzzy. I would not recommend this camera. Even though I can't return it, I think I will buy another camera. Always remember, you get what you pay for. If its cheap in price, its probably cheap in quality

Nikon Coolpix L22
We use this camera as a carry with to grab off hand photos, and it does a great job, pixs are clear and color good. I can not comment on the movie capabilities and have not thus far taken many dark indoor shots, but none of the shots we have taken are throwaways. We would recommend this camera to a friend

Great camera for the price
I bought this camera for my son to take on a trip to Boston. It's super small and light, so he didn't mind carrying it. It also takes fantastic pics. I highly recommend it. However, it doesn't come with a memory card, so you might want to order one.

A Cool time w/ the Coolpix
I love this camera!!I bought it for the color & price & got everything I was looking for. I took it on a Zipline Adventure & captured some great pics & video! It was easy to figure out how to use (& I'm not real tech savvy). I like the small camera size & large viewing screen.I like that it shoots video too & it has an image stabilizer so your video looks really smooth. I wanted a camera for general, everyday use. This fit the bill on all accounts. Thanks Nikon for a user friendly product & Amazon for such a great price & free delivery!!

Great Camera!
This camera is a great purchase for its price! It has all the functionality that one would want and expect from a Nikon. I purchased this after having a Canon (which broke and wouldn't even turn on after less than a year) and this camera is far superior. Has great zoom, loads of settings (everything from portrait and landscape to close up and fireworks), and has a great battery life. I would definitely recommend this camera to others.

Worst purchase ever!!!!
I got one of these as my "party cam" to take around with me everywhere. The image quality is HORRIBLE unless you have a lot of light. Useless. I had a Canon Elph (5 MP) and Exilim (8 MP) before this one and both were WAY better. I wish I didn't cheap out and buy this useless camera. Instead, I should have spent a little bit more on a Canon.

Great litle camera for the price; perfect for my 10 yr old.
Has lots of features for a small camera. Not a lot of zoom ability, but there's some. Perfect camera for my daughter's use. Its a lot at first to figure out, but she loves it, and most of the time just uses it in auto mode. Nikon's Auto settings are really good, even for a small camera. But she's learned how to alter her flash and scene settings, and practices around the house in different lighting and focus points to see what the camera can do. Great for snapahots of friends, and scenery when on vacation. took some nice photos at night on vacation, but just keep people within 10-15 feet for best shots. Flash is good, but is not big, so its a recommendation to keep your subject within a decent area. Camera has settings that can shoot up to3200 ISO, and adjust white balance.

Bad thing is there's only a digital guide on CD, so everytime you need to refer to something when learning how to use it, you need your computer around to read it. You can't just keep a small copy of it on you. I had to print the basic pages so I can keep it with the camera.

Definitely do your research before buying. Buy for what you really need the camera to do. If you don't need a lot of the special features, this is a great purchase saving several dollars from the next version up. Nikon really delivers with a small camera with big camera features for less than $150, and that's with some accessories added.

CoolPix
Had five similar Sony Cybershots prior to this purchase. The Cypershot is good, but the fifth one I purchased never made one good picture and I ditched it after a couple of months. I am a real estate appraiser and depend on my camera for good quiality pictures. I love the Cool Pix. It is easy to operate and takes excellent pictures.

all that glitters ain't gold
I bought this affordable camera to upgrade from my 10+ year old 5mp Canon P&S. I'm an artist who uses my camera mostly to take pictures of my work to sell online. My Canon had served me well, but I figured it was time to upgrade to a higher mp for the sake of image quality. I researched several cameras in the price range, then stumbled onto this one. It had some great reviews, it was a huge leap to 12mp, and I loved the way it looked. After a little more comparison shopping, I decided to go with this model.

My first impression was that I loved the look, size, and easy to decipher buttons and menus. The camera charged quickly, and it was easy to get rolling taking pictures. I didn't have any of the battery/operational issues others had described in their reviews. Unfortunately, even with the camera in macro mode the pictures were not great quality. I decided, rather than rushing to return the camera, to take plenty of time to research and ensure that I was employing the modes and functions properly to get the best results. I tried shooting in various circumstances, including natural light and indoors with my tabletop photo studio and lighting, experimenting with different factors to try to get better shots. Time after time, old faithful outperformed this model. I hoped that if I got accustomed to how this camera worked (even though it's features and menus were almost identical to those on my old Canon), that I would see an improvement. Unfortunately, no improvement. Close-ups were often fuzzy, indoor shots often had an unattractive yellow cast, even with careful attention to camera mode and lighting. I guess my old camera had my expectations too high, but I figured going from a much older model with much lower mp to this would result in good/better results with less work.

I had fallen in love with the compact size, pretty color, and overall look of this camera, but no matter what I tried I could not make it perform well enough to warrant keeping it. :o(

Camera Bad; Customer Service Worse
We bought this camera roughly 2 months ago to use in place of an HP camera we have that chews through batteries.

We have heard great things about Nikon, particularly their lenses. Good lenses should equal good, sharp pictures.

The primary issue with the camera is that it does not focus. The vast majority of pictures taken with this camera are out of focus. The camera offers multiple focal points and that may be the root cause of the problem. I often don't even click the picture because the camera chooses the oddest items it the picture to be the main focal point.

When I contacted customer service they asked me to send in sample pictures. After a couple of rounds their advice was to change the ISO settings from Auto. If I want them to check out the problems further I must send in the camera at my own expense.

I have a Digital SLR to be used in some situations and a point-and-shoot in others. One of the key features I like about a point-and-shoot is that I don't have to mess with ISO, aperture, and shutter speed settings. All I (should) have to do is point and shoot.

SO PERFECT!
Well I love it. When i first got it,it was easy to learn. The size can fit anywhere small.When i brought it to my job everyone loved it. They said it was cute and fit-able, also very clear pictures.When the veiw was shaking whether in a car or in your hands it still turned out a clear picture. P.S if it doesn't have a memory card you can get from 12,15 and 17 pictures stored. Video is about 30 sec without photo.

Don't Judge a Camera by Its Cover
The Nikon Coolpix S3000 is aesthetically pleasing and lightweight. It is 1/3 the girth of my other cameras. One of my qualms is that the image capture button wobbles a lot. It also has the worst picture quality of any camera I have seen. Every picture came out blurry and unreadable. I would not recommend this camera for anyone.

Great Camera.
I really enjoy all the settings on the camera and how well they work. I'm able to zoom over 100 feet and capture everything with this wide lens. It's a good camera for someone who does or doesn't know what they're doing.

Not worthy !
O.K. so I have owned a few Canon Camera's. Bought this Nikon thinking it would be a good unit.

NOT !!

Very poor quality pics, no eye-piece and the screen is to dull to see in full sun. I returned and went back to Canon.
If you are used to Canon quality, this Cam will disapoint.

Garbage imo.

I've only had the camera for a couple weeks but, so far, so good. Very happy with the perfomance at this price.
