Not too good
I got off to a tough start with this product. It appeared that something inside was dislodged or out of place, floating inside. Occasionally over the next day, I found the device prone to reset itself and give me tips once restarted. Dumb. I really liked the form factor and design, and I am an experienced pda user. I sent out for an exchange so we will see how the next one fares. I just want a reliable device, anything more than that will make it a legend to me just like my old RX3715 and Jornada. So two stars for this product. I had just returned my other one for being defective, and here I am on a totally different site ordering a totally different device, and they were both a bit sickly. Trouble started when the box was opened and the battery was installed. The screen lit up momentarily, and after that the device would not power up. I figured it needed charging and plugged it in. But even just turning the device in my hand would make the charging disconnect periodically. It seemed as though the housing was putting too much pressure on the circuit connections inside.
Audio could be improved HP IPaQ
It is just not designed to be loud enough but is very intuitive on its functionality. In a quiet room, I had to set the volume control to the maximum level to hear audio books. I tried all of the internal adjustments, several different audio book files, and types of headphones. Nothing would solve the problem. As I use the unit for an MP3 player when traveling on airplanes, the low audio output was not sufficient to be heard over the noise of the engines (and seat mates). I returned the unit to Amazon.com without difficulty - full marks to Amazon. I will nurse my rx1955 along until HP (or whoever) manages to market a unit that will meet my needs. I have been using the prior one for almost 22 months and am quite satisfied with it. Unfortunately, one of the multi-purpose buttons no longer works reliably. I purchased the iPAQ 111 Pocket PC as a replacement - newer operating system, more memory, faster processor, WiFi, and buttons that work. The basis features of the units (with the exception of Bluetooth) are comparable. Unfortunately, the audio output volume was very disappointing.
End of the line...Maybe?
Sadly, this iPaq PDA will probably be the end of the line for "stand-alone" PDAs along with it's bigger brother the iPaq 211. I still love mine and use it many times a day as my peripheral brain.

I owned the larger & heavier iPaq 211 but sold it on eBay so I could buy this smaller/lighter sibling. The Windows Mobile 6 classic runs flawlessly with very few soft resets. The WM player is great for music as well as videos. The videos at 320x240 play w/o hiccups.

The WM office (excel, word, powerpoint) work as expected. No complaints!

The email program sets up easily and syncs with Outlook effortlessly. I have all (5) email accounts sending & receiving without problems.

The screen is bright, even outdoors and the audio is clear & crisp w/o headphones.

The 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connects quickly and consistently every time.

My only negative cooment might be the power consumption drains the battery pretty quick...needs charge every night.
Simplicity
Not much for words. Great product. Made my life and work extremely easy. I recommend it all the way.
JUNK!!!!
I HATE THIS PDA. HATE HATE.... it stops working all the time and I don't even use it that much. It stopped working 3 months after I got it and I had not even used it. Now I haven't used it since May and it will not turn on and it will not charge... DO NOT Waste your money on this product!!!!!

Great Resource For Securing PDA's and Mobile Devices
This book provides a wealth of information for network and security administrators struggling to address the security risks posed by PDA's within their networks. It stands out as pretty much the only book addressing the security concerns of these convenient and valuable tools.

The book opens with a fairly comprehensive overview of PDA technology and the security features available. It then moves on to talk about other ways to secure the PDA such as encryption. Most importantly though, the book provides a wide range strategies and advice to help managers deploy and manage PDA's in their networks securely.

As the subtitle "Incorporating Handhelds Into The Enterprise" implies, the book is aimed at network and security administrators and not at the actual PDA users per se. The book serves as a great tool to help administrators begin to tackle the new security issues created by PDA's and to develop and implement structured policies to control PDA security in the enterprise.

PDA's are pretty much here to stay. I recommend that any network or security administrator with users using PDA's take a look at this book to get a grip on securing them.

Five Stars for Timeliness!
We're a small IT group in a growing manufacturing company. We know about NT, wired and lately wireless networks, databases, and client workstations. We knew little about ubiquitous, wireless, WPA based, handheld PDA's. And it seems the industry has not decided how to integrate security of these devices with the enterprise. This book serves as a starting point for someone that wants to evolve with the industry and extend the production enterprise.
This is a good book made great by it's early entry. Five stars, because it helps make sense of the "stew". Good luck to us all.
Good resources for the ins and outs of PDA security
Most security managers wouldn't dream of leaving file servers or laptops filled with proprietary information unprotected. But the protection could be for naught if the same data is transferred to a personal digital assistant (PDA), which often is overlooked when security is considered. PDA Security: Incorporating Handhelds into the Enterprise trumpets the importance of PDA security and guides system administrators through protective measures.

When PDAs first appeared commercially, their capabilities were limited and their risks minimal. Today's PDAs have scores of megabytes of memory and well-developed networking capabilities, making them as important to protect as PCs and laptops.

PDA Security is valuable for corporate system administrators who need a PDA-protection architecture for their organizations. The book provides tactics on how to deploy, manage, and secure PDAs in the workplace.

Section one of the book offers a comprehensive introduction to PDA technology and security, with sections two and three exploring security mechanisms and strategies such as cryptography in greater detail. The book is not designed for end users; its information is far too technical for the casual PDA user. But administrators who must support and secure many PDAs will find a good resource here.

Waste of time and money!
This is a collection of information already on internet and by doing a few searches you can get it all. I would not pay for this.

I bought this book to learn more about the subject matter as we define policy for our company, however this looks like it's advertising about a product the author sells.

Waste of my time and money.

good book
This is a good book about a forgotten subject: PDA Security.

People put loads on confidential information on their PDA's w/o thinking about security.

Hopefully, those types will read this book.

old timer found a replacement
A reprieve for a few years - as Palm no longer makes PDAs. This refurbished TX helps me keep organized with appointments and contacts without the necessity of an un-needed data plan or "smart" phone. Sometimes simple is better.
mostly good Palm TX handheld
I like this product overall but I am having trouble powering it off, as the only way to do so is via the power button at the top. My PDA has no scratches and usually roams around my front pocket. I have talked with other users of this PDA and they have complained about the same problem. I haven't tried Palm customer support, but i'm assuming they'll refer me to the poeple I purchased it from. It seems more like a design flaw than anything else. I just thought I'd give others a heads up. I purchased this Palm from a reseller for about a decent chunk of change. It's a great overall PDA. However, the power button is flimsy. I have not dropped it or anything. It's just slow to respond. My first TX, the power button stopped responding within about 3 weeks. The people I ordered it from were nice and replaced it. I'm on my third TX and have been noticing the same problem again after 4 months, although eventualy I can get the button to work if I keep pushing. I can turn the palm on with any of the buttons at the bottom, but that brings me to whatever preset program that is assocaited with it.
Lousiest product I ever bought
You'd think that a company with as much experience with touch screens as Palm,
would make them usable. Not so with the tx. First one developed dead spots almost Immediately
then came the calibration errors. This piece of junk cannot be accurately. No difference
after they replaced the screen and the on off switch. I went through their tech service
department and they kept wanting me to hard reset and that didn't help. I can tell em it's a
software flaw, but they don't admit it. Guess they'd rather have disgruntled customers.
Even if you're a palm addict... bypass this offering. It's a waste of good money and
almost useless.
Great working machine.
I have owned my palm for several years now and have never had any problem with it's software. I have read other reviews stating that this particular system is known for crashing with a complete loss of information. This has never happened since I have owned this product. I currently use it daily at work with the program epocrates - it has never let me down. I have even dropped the palm several times without damage, although I do have mine wrapped in a stainless steel rhino skin cover. After several years, I feel that I made a great purchase - even if my TX dies tomorrow.
Palm TX
Works as expected, arrived in great shape as stated. It replaced a life drive that was failing.
It took a bit of reasearch to get it to work with Windows 7 64 bit.

Perfect for PDA or pocket pcs
Got a new Navigator 6 software AND bluetooth GPS combo off Ebay for $20 (including shipping). Because the combo deal is so cheap DO NOT buy the software alone. Yes, maps are somewhat older but still useful in most situations. Already used to Nav.6 as I had it in my iPAQ rx5915 previously which I sold. I bought this to use in HP iPAQ rx3100 - easy install of software and immediate recognition of bluetooth GPS through my iPAQ. Because the software and map files are too large for available memory on the PDA itself, I loaded it onto a 2 GB SD card (total USA and Canada maps and software takes up about 1 GB). The initial software installation onto the computer and transfer to PDA is a little tricky, made harder by lack of detailed instructions but read EVERY sentence carefully in the install sheet and you'll be ok. The thing is, for $20 bucks you get a really good bluetooth GPS receiver, with fast signal acquisition, which can be used separately with a netbook or laptop equipped with bluetooth (most of them have it) and a map program such as MS Streets and Trips. For $20, I've expanded the usefulness of my PDA with a terrific GPS receiver and program. Well worth it for $20.

Ask question
Can seller tell me if this software could be download to Dopod cell phone (Model : CHT9000)?
If so, I will consider to buy it . Pls reply me soon. Tks!
Don't buy. No longer supported by TomTom!
I've been using this software for a number of years and love it.

Via the PC "TomTom Home" program, TomTom will offer you an updated map to buy. Beware, this dates from 2007. There are no newer maps available, nor will there be as TomTom have ceased all support for this version.

There is no new version that will run on my HP IPAQ so I have to buy a new SatNav or put up with old maps.

Thank you TomTom!
Navigator 5 and 6 on IPAQ 4155, HTC8525, XV6700
Hi!

I started using my Trusted IPAQ 4155 (Running Pocket PC2003) with the Navigator 5 back in January 2006. Back then it came in six Cd's. I got so used to it that I transferred it to my AT&T phone HTC8525 (that ran Windows mobile 5). I kept using the Tom Tom Navigator 5, Ver 5.1 for three years in a row without a hitch. "Tom Tom home" is not compatible as it was not available back then and it is not needed to install Navigator 5. This installation software is the only problem that i have found. The installation Cd that came with the NAV5 package helped with the installation on the IPAQ and the HTC8525. The big problem came when I changed to a Verizon/Audiovox XV6700 that runs WM5. This is basically the same phone as the HTC 8525, the phones look almost identical, but I found out too late that Tom Tom and HTC were partners and that my Navigator software was not "designed" nor "approved " to work with the Verizon/ Audiovox XV6700. In order to make it work, You have to manually load the maps into the new Memory card, find the .CAB file on the installation files, then load it to the phone memory and from within the phone, install the .cab file, once it loads the setup program in the phone, it's just a matter of telling the Tom Tom Navigator program where the maps are located. You have to keep the same folder structure as you had in the IPAQ and the 8525 and it works Ok. You have to "rip"(copy and paste) the maps from the CD's to the Computer Desktop, then transfer them to the memory card, then put the memory card on the phone. The only thing that only works sometimes is the "Navigate To" feature. Originally in the IPAQ and the 8525 you can open your Outlook Contacts, select any contact, then open the "Menu" tab and there is an option there that you can "Navigate to", once selected, the Tom Tom programs (both NAV 5 and 6 ) opens automatically, shows the address on the map, turns on the bluetooth connection (it's looking for the GPS transmitter that you have to turn on yourself) and calculates the route. This feature only works intermittently on the XV6700, but i can live with that. I bought the navigator 6 just for fun (and it was a cheap way to get my hands on a brand new bluetooth receiver!), I wanted to use the Tom Tom Home feature, but it's quite unstable in Windows Vista. I had to try it at least 5 times to install it correctly, and it takes FOREVER to load the DVD maps onto a clean and new Ipaq Memory card.
You are off the reservation with this software. You need to understand the phone you have, join into a discussion group related to your phone and be able to tinker with it with no fear(google your phone model# and "hack"), what's the worst that can happen? a hard reset? that's why you have the CD's/DVD. Reload it and move on. If you do a hard reset the maps stay on the card, so all you have to do is reload the installer software, re enter the installation key and move on.
I know this, once it is installed correctly, it will work time and time again.
Now that I have the Navigator 6 on my Ipaq, and i compare it with the Navigator 5 on both my phones... the verdict is..... It's the same program. The only difference is the Tom Tom Home feature and some color schemes, but 99.5% of the rest is the same. I rate them both 3.5 stars.
When you buy this kind of software you have to be able to dedicate some time to educate yourself with it, be able to "hammer it down" to make it work the right way, but once it works, and you get used to it, You'll love it and will give it 5 stars!
There are a ton of "Points of interest" that you can download for free, then customize them as you wish.
These are discontinued products and Tom Tom wash off their hands with their "It's not supported, sorry" . Do not expect a lot of hand holding from Tom Tom, they are in Netherlands and frankly, they want you to buy an I-phone with their new app on it. That is the easy route to follow. Me? I bought it and have used it daily for four years non-stop, they will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers. LOL
Installation straightforward
Tom Tom Navigator 6 Software with Maps of the US and Canada (DVD) and Bluetooth GPS Receiver. Loaded the DVD software onto a computer running XP with no problems. Selected maps of areas of the USA I needed most and sync with HTC Kaiser phone placing program and maps onto phone storage card section. Received an error message at first that software could not locate map, but resolved on second attempt. I have not used software whilst driving yet so cannot review that important aspect.I was satisifed with ease of installation.

How to Do Everything with your Handheld Lives up to it's Expectations
This book was very informative and helpful and I would recommend it to others who have handhelds and don't know its full potential. I am not very "follow the directions" literate but the book was easy to follow and step by step for the dummies in all of us!
Alright I guess
Not a bad book but the Axim is pretty self explanatory without it. It may come in handy if you want to use yours for a GPS or want to add something cool to the CF slot like a camera. Other than that, I probably could have learned just as much surfing the Web for other users.
Axim X51V Second Edition
xim Handheld Second Edition. I thought it was a hardcopy of the Axim X51V manual that dell no longer offers so I ordered it form amazon. Well, this Second Edition was not really a manual but a hard copy of what the Axim X51V can do. It is a very nice book but since the Axim is very new to me I needed a manual of everything I could do with the axim including on how to accurately work the wireless capability. I enjoyed reading this handheld second edition and it did help me a lot in understanding the axim. But, of course it was not a true manual that is very murch needed but not offered anymore by dell because people would loose their manuals and want replacement manuals that are probably expensive to reproduce since the manual would be so large. In closing I do believe as the Dell Axim Handheld Second Edition book goes it is very nice but still it does not in detail train a person in "How to Do Everything" like a Axim X51v manual would do it you could still buy one. Sincerely Yours, Robert J Miguez
Very Disappointing
Without more detailed information about the operating system and its methods, this book is a useless waste of time. I threw it in the trash after 15 minutes.
Superficial information
This book does not offer what I was looking for, namely some in-depth information on the Axim PDA. There is a lengthy chapter devoted to the stupid games you can play on this device. But I was hoping to learn how (if at all possible) you can create a shortcut to rotate the display. Or how to always have Word and Excel start up at a predefined zoom level. Instead the book tells you how to play BallBreaker.

Worst Customer Service Imaginable
Dealing with HP customer service is like dealing with mindless automaton. I must have spent more than 8 hours on the phone with them to no end. This device is necessary for certain applications, but if you purchase one, be sure to order a revolver as well to shoot yourself in the head after getting off the phone with Soulless Packard. Or, of if you are anti-gun, try cyanide.
Got it used and still love it
I got this Ipaq from my friend, to replace my older one and love the larger screen size. I mainly use this as a storage device for helpful informaion. The replacement was very helpful since I can have all my documents and books on one small device and still access the web with wifi. Nice product.
What is that in your pocet?
This unit is big and bulky. Moderate power life, I leave it plugged in when I am sitting down at the house. Screen is not as responsive as desired. Not intuitive to navigate. I run nursing software pepid on it, it's been off and on. I wouldnt have bought one unless I had too for school. I had to, I dont know if they are all like this.
ipaq 211 handheld
Keeps you in touch when you are not at home or near a computer!
Still learning how to use it.
Well thought it would be better.......
I purchased the 211 as an upgrade to my old aging hp ipaq 2495b, which I love but it was getting older and the back had to be taped shut plus the battery is always an issue. With excitement I finally got the 211, everything was looking good I do love the screen. The battery life is much better unfortunately I keep having issues with wifi connections. It won't connect to my home network all the time it does now and then just not consistently. The 2495b does easily and all the time. The 211 won't connect any where else either, the 2495b does fine. I can't seem to figure it out, so I'm back to using my old 2495b and wondering why I spent the money on the new one when the wifi won't consistently work? It says it's connected but it's not oh well sigh. My advice, hold out a bit longer and see if the next series addresses some of the issues this one has. I could just have a picky one but with the win mobile 6.0 I didn't think I would have any issues??

Uses batteries
The EZVue 8V was a substitue for an old Rolodex electronic address book that was starting to go. After looking at different products I chose the EZVue. It seemed to have more stuff than I needed, and it worked pretty well. I did not like the fact that it went through my rechargeable AAA batteries like nothing. I had left it sitting for about 2 weeks, deciding whether I wanted to keep it and when I turned it on the batteries were dead. It also used the batteries when I was loading the information onto the unit. I ended up returning this baby. My old Rolodex had watch batteries that lasted years. I would have kept it if the batteries lasted longer.

Useless piece of junk, deserves 0 stars!
I bought this product locally from Wal-Mart and it didn't last three months. "Pieces" of the display disappear making your entries unreadable. I have written to Royal Corp. and they have not even had the decency to respond. If I had the sales receipt at this time, I'd return it to the store and demand my money back for this piece of ****. Don't buy this item, you are wasting your money and time.
Actually a No Star rating for EZVUE8V
The EZVUE8V is the most miserable piece of junk I have ever used. Every day it starts with "battery low" and requires two more. It will not schronize with my computer or any other. Instructions are useless and I will most certainly return it. I have been using hand held organizers for almost 20 years but not any that will work with the computer. This one doesn't work either Royal EZVUE8V Personal Digital Assistant
HORRIBLE!
The product is very cheaply made. I have an ezvue6 that has last me 3 years and it's made more solid this this thing. There's no touch screen, you have to press the arrow buttons HARD and they won't take you back to another selection. you have to turn it off then turn it back on and start over. Royal has really gone downhill on this thing. This is NOT worth $30. try $10 at toys-r-us and label it "5 years and under".

Sturdy and rugged
I recently purchased this case for a second time, the first having lasted for about 4 years of use and, under the circumstances, abuse. For a Palm case, being tossed into a bookbag and coveralls almost daily and opened many many times on those days, it's a good buy and stands up well against time.
You get what you pay for.
I bought this because I was looking for a belt case to fit my new HP IPAQ 211. It does fit, but I'm not really too excited about it. I've been using Sena Cases up to this point and this $14 case is no match for a $50 case. That's obvious enough. Since currently Sena is not making a case for this and given the 200 series' large size, there's not much around so I thought I'd try this.
The main issue with this product that led me to send it back is the construction of the belt clip. Obviously there's not a locking clip but the clip comes out a bit and then goes straight down. Nothing at all to provide resistance to pushing off. Aside from the design, the clip is pretty weak. I'm just not willing to trust a $450 PDA to what is really a poorly designed case.
PDA Case
I thought it would be better, easier to use, it turned out to be just a case, not a pda style case
Significant disappointment
No longer has rotating belt clip like last model. After less than 3 months of use, lining is coming off. Terrible manufacturing quality!
Okay for a "Koskin" case
I picked up one of these cases cheap on eBay as a replacement for the Targus CH045. The CH045 is a much better product, made with real leather. This case is made from "Koskin," which feels like thin Naugahyde to me. The belt clip seems to be the same as the CH045, so it should work find for normal thickness belts--I've never had it fall off in five years of constant use.

The case holds a Garmin iQue 3600 quite nicely; it could probably fit most PDAs, but being made of "Koskin" instead of leather, I wouldn't try forcing a PDA in it.

However, the "Koskin" material is not as supple as real leather. The flap doesn't fold over the top as neatly as the leather version. I'm also concerned about the durability of "Koskin." Most references I find to this material are from manufacturers, who claim it to be "durable and long lasting." Time alone will tell...

Very pleased....
I order 2 of these hand held games for my children. The price was great and it arrived at my house within 3 days, which is very quick. My children just loved this game and we have a 3 yr old as well and she has put this toy to the test for durability. Very pleased with this item!
WASTE OF MONEY AND S&H CHARGE
Absolutely misleading description! You turn the game on and CANNOT SEE ANYTHING! I thought i got a broken unit, went to Target got another one, returned the one I had and the new one was the same! Different buttons don't function properly on different units, on the first one the DEAL button would not respond. The second one pretty much as soon as I turned on and saw no light on the so-called LCD screen I new the hand-held game is a waste. And what a hassel to return to Amazon! Besides DON'T BUY THIS GAME, DON'T ORDER ON AMAZON. I got another game Tetris and that one just came broken, still trying to return it. IT'S A "NO DEAL" ON THE DEAL!
Losing interest.
This was purchased for our 10 year old. She is certainly able to play the game and has watched the TV version and enjoys it on TV. However, this handheld hasn't held her attention much. In fact, it is more enjoyed by the older kids and adults in our family. The on button seems to have a little bit of a problem on it. Myself (mom), I can play it all day! Crazy....
Hand held game
this is a fun handheld game. It mimics the TV show and has neat sound effects. Fun for children and grownups as well.
Nice little hand held version...
This is a pretty good adaptation of the game. Unfortunately the money isn't real though. It's pretty straight forward, you start the game and it asks you to pick a case. Then you go through picking cases 1 at a time, and getting offers for your case from the banker. Anyone that watches the show will know how to play this right out of the box. Very simple gameplay. You can breeze through a game in a minute or 2 depending on how fast you want to go. You can turn the game off and it will save your progress, and you can pick up where you left off before, or start a new game.

The only bad things I could say are no backlight, no contrast adjustment, and the plastic does feel a little 'cheap.' Other than those few minor complaints, I'd give this item a 5.

palmtreo650
The phone looked awesome, I dont have the data package nor do I want it but to use this phone I had to purchase an additional $10 to $30 per month data package. For the average person, who needs internet on their phone!! what a waste of money...Another fleecing of America by these large multi million or billion dollar companies..If you have a data account the phone looked great, I dont know how it works, but I would be willing to try it if I had data on my verizon plan. I returned the phone. The service on receiving this phone and returning it was great the overall experience with amazon and recelluartoo was exceptional. ps any users out there buying contracts with any cell phone companies it is a waste of money. Just buy a new or used phone out right and you can decide how you want your account and if times get hard you can cancel without any fees.
BAD BUISNESS
I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO RECEIVE MY PDA TREO EVER SINCE JUNE 16 THEY MAILED IT OFF. OKAY MY ADDRESS IS FORWARDING MY MAIL TO A P.O. BOX IN WHICH I GET THAT RIGHT? BUT WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW CAN THEY NOT CONTACT ME, AND CONFIRM THE DELIVERY OR MISUP WHEN THEY ARE SENDING MY PACKAGE FROM POST OFFICE TO POST OFFICE, HATS NOT EVEN NEITHER MY FORWARDING POST OFFICE NOR HOME POST OFFICE. I FEEL LIKE IF THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY THAT SALES USED REFURBISHED PHONES, THEY SHOULD AT LEAST MAKE SURE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ON POINT BY SHIPPING THE PACKAGE FEDEX OR UPS. THATS JUST BEING CHEAP. I WAS EXPECTING IT TO COME TO MY DOOR ANYWAY. I PAID SHIPPING A ND HANDLING. I HATE THAT AMAZON HAS THIS COMPANY RECELLULAR LISTED ON THEIR LIST, I SHOULD HAVE WENT THROUGH AMAZON DIRECTLY, BUT I ALSO ACCIDENTALLY ORDERED A PHONE AT LEAST I THOUGHT IT WAS A PHONE AND IT WAS A ACCESORY KEYBOARD. SO I NEED TO SEND THAT BACK, ALL IM SAYING AMAZON SHOW HE KEYBOARD AND NOT THE WHOLE PHONE, THAT CONFUSES US, NOW IT HAS TO GET RESENT BK.THE SAME SHIPPINGINCIDENT HAPPENED WITH THISD AS WELL, BUT I DID RECEIVE THIS LIKE 2 WEEKS AGO.
YES!!!
I THINK I WILL LOVE THIS PHONE I HOPE TO HAVE IT BY THE 30TH OF THIS MONTH WHICH IS MY BIRTHDAY......
