Viewsonic 10 inch frame
Beautiful display of images, music and videos.

But - I could not change the date, or use the included remote control to change anything.

So - only 3 stars!

overheat a little bit
I got it for my parents, but first I need to try it out and make sure it's working properly. After I turned it on, the color looked good, but the back of the frame began to be overheat after 15 minutes, so I have to turn it off, I dont know if it's normal or I just got a defective one.

I love this item
I haven't had access to a photo frame for while so don't know if the features on this one are common. That being said, the combination of pictures, audio, and video make this frame a winner. It is a wide (1024 X 600) format so horizontal pictures can easily be made to fill the screen. The wood frame made the overall size too large and was easily removed. It's great to be able to plug into a PC via the supplied USB cable. I easily downloaded either to the internal memory or the SD card I added. But what's really nice is being able to see the picture on the frame then, using a graphics program, alter the size and reload the new version so it fills the screen properly. Also, the color controls really make the picture jump out of the frame. The only thing I don't like is the 24 hr clock in calender mode.

very nice digital picture frame, with random selection
Bought this for my wife for mother's day. It is the third digital picture frame we have owned.
The resolution is very good, and the size of the picture is nice, but the best thing about this is the ability to set it for random picture showings in the slideshow mode.
The other 2 we have always start at the beginning, so if you have new pictures on the memory card, you must watch the hundreds of old pictures first. That's not good. This frame can mix them up, or you can select 'new' photos first.
It is a great product and the price makes it a really super value.

This product offers very good picture quality and an overall attractive appearance.
It provides several wall and desktop mounting options and a variety of interfaces
for device and media connection for uploading photos. In these matters, it is at
least the equivalent of similar products and superior to many.

In terms of its user-friendliness, however, the product's instructions are somewhat
unclear and inadequately written. The product's internal memory capacity is
only average (perhaps 150-200 pictures) and argues for the use of a separate media
card or USB device to access a greater number of photos.

Fantastic frame!
Big, bright and beautiful! Everyone who sees it says they want to get one too.
I have only used it to show slideshows--it's in my 90 year old father's room at the senior citizens home, and he watches it for hours! It's great size allows him to see it well, even the occasional vertical picture. And the remote makes it easy for him to turn it on and off.
Yes, it would be nice if it did random slideshows, But, from what I've seen, none do, even the ones that say they do!

Great product, bad shipping
the good points:

The product is very very nice as it works exactly how it was stated. I used it to show slides and still shots over 3 days. Loading the images and video slides was a piece of cake.

It can be loaded via cable, USB or SDK card and moved using the products onscreen menu (if not using cable) with on screen menu. If you use the USB Cale that comes with the product, you have the ability to do all the data setup from your desktop. You also have the ability to run the images or slides directly from your USB ork sdk card.

It also has a remote that allowed me to change my video from 20 feet away which was good as the product was hanging on ghe wall. It can be wall mounted or used on the table top.

Lastly, the screen was large and super crisp. I showed technical and highly detailed images, all came out very smooth!

Negatives:

i ordered this device over night delivery, but the package came three days later and broken because of bad packaging. Amazon sent me a new product and was supposed to be overnight but again 4 days before I received it. Luckily, it was not damaged and worked great!

Would I buy again, in a heart beat, made my presentation more professional and added the ability to give people the "WOW" fact.

Exactly what I was looking for
I have been looking for a digital photo frame that I could put above my kitchen sink in the space that was a window prior to an addition to my home. I wanted something that would show the pictures on my memory cards so it would be entertaining while I am washing dishes. It is great; the picture quality is beautiful and the frame automatically rotates the photos that were taken vertically. I haven't tried any of the other features such as loading music and/or photos to the internal memory, but I think it would be great for that also. The photo size looks to be more or less 8X10 and it is a wonderful way to enjoy my digital photoes. The frame will also play the videos that are on the memory card, but it appears that it won't read some camera's videos, for example I can't get it to play the videos I have taken with my Canon G10. I had also thought it would be neat to just have one picture showing on the frame so it would be like a traditional framed photo but I could't figure out how to do that, again I would probably have to load just one photo in the internal memory. Then someone said it might not be good for the frame, the image might "burn" into the screen. There is a way to extend the length that each photo is displayed so I may do that at some point. I am very happy with this frame and the very reasonable price.

Missing features and gunk under glass
The first thing I noticed upon opening the package was 4 small bits of black dirt/plastic shavings UNDER the glass. One is fairly large and in the white matted area around the outside so it is very noticeable. Next, upon powering up I noticed several red pixels stuck on. This digital frame is missing some basic functionality found on our other digital frames like: automatic scheduled turn on/off, ability to control video settings like brightness, contrast, color saturation, etc. Finally, the mount stand does not provide enough vertical adjustment to work where we need to place the frame. I will be returning this sorry excuse for a digitial frame.

Did not work
The frame as received did not work at all. A small piece was broken. The frame was returned with no difficulties encountered.

Nice Image
Have only had for one month. First of all they say "WOOD" - and I say really????? I would say it is plastic. If it is wood it has been coated to look just like plastic. It is attracitve enough but I doubt wood. I have taken all my photos, loaded them on an SD chip, run them through MS Fax & Picture Viewer and rotated them all correctly there. I then put the chip into the slot on the photo frame and they are playing perfectly. Have not tried any other settings or loading directly into the frame as it is much faster to capture them off my hard drive and onto a chip (they are $12 for 2 GB so why not). The picture is fantastic (I am very picky on this issue) and resolution looks great. The frame is very large so you really need a good place to display it. At this point I would really recommend for the price as long as you are not expecting wood (the reason it got only 4 stars.)

Great Gift for Dad
Was looking for the perfect Father's Day gift for a budding new photographer, my Dad. Dad is 83 and he loves digital photography, and this is the perfect way for him to display his works. He even travels with it instead of a laptop to view his photos at the end of the day.

Very impressing product,but..
The fram has a great big size, very elegant and has the stand device which I needed to display in my husband's business. It is very easy to use. The options of different memory devices you can use on it is very convinient. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the pictrues were dark and not bright clear as I would like them to be. So as we were displaying food platters pictures, the food looked burned in the pictures.

Bad out of Box
Received the unit which was poorly packed and didnt really have enough padding inside the box...box was crushed on one end. Opened the unit up , installed my memory card and I was off and running. I never opened the instructions and was able to install my pics and figure out the menu buttons on the side of the frame. Everything was cool until 45 minutes into this the display started severely jittering the image and displaying horizontal scan lines in the display :(. The quality and brightness of the images was great up until that point. The frame detects whether its horizontal or Vertical sitting and rotates / adjusts the images to compensate. The images can be played random or sequential with as little as 3 seconds between pics. It comes with a remote which I never even unpackaged. So its going back to Amazon as a bad out of box unit. I may risk it and try to buy another as for $99 and 15 inches it WOULD BE pretty cool if it worked :( ......J

I loved the digital photo frame. It is very sleek looking with great picture quality.

The only issue I have with it is I was looking for something that ran off from batteries. We have an area that has no outlet and is where the frame will be used.

great product internal memory is excellent
The internal memory is excellent. However, some improvements can be done on the outside look. as it doesnt look like a 10 inch frame.

Don't
Purchased item. Received earlier than scheduled. After much frustration got pictures loaded. Set up on shelf and very acceptable (for 24 Hours) Decided to delete and add pictures. Followed instructions faithfully. Turned off to attach and remove from computer. Turned on. Power light ok, no video. Sent to Samsung and two weeks later device came back. Circuit board was apparently exchanged. Now when loading and deleting pictures the buttons bounce when performing tasks. Very frustrating. Will not recommend. I am retired, my vocation was radar, ECM, TV engineer.

Works Great
Works great, lots of storage. There is quite a few options, I haven't gone through everything yet but so far great product.

Superb Photo frame...
I have gone through a lot of frames before coshing this one. I am happy I made this choice. The frame is sleek, the picture quality is superb and its internal 1GB memory makes life a bit more smooth. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Excellent, but perhaps a bit overpriced at $124.
I've been using this wireless digital picture frame for 3 days. Setup was easy. So far I have only run it using framechannel to display my pictures, the weather, and the calendar. Nothing else thus far although there do seem to be many choices - I figure the weather and calendar are the only things I really want around all the time (because they don't require follow up).

Image is sharp and bright.

I bought mine for $55 from woot. I am thrilled with it for that price. Probably would be thrilled with it up to about $100. At current list, I think it is a bit overpriced, but I have not shopped this category much.

Very cool once you get it working. Not simple to configure.
The 'buttons' on the right (if you call them that) are a bit difficult to use and definitely take some getting used to. Because of that, it takes much longer to configure things like wireless settings, etc than it should. If the controls were improved, then this would be a great product. Still pretty decent.

not as good as you would think
I don't typically do reviews because most aspects are covered somewhere in existing reviews. However, this had glowing reviews all around and warranted a reality check.

Does not connect to the internet via wireless very well at all (this was the only reason to buy this frame). I have a robust network for my house and run six systems flawlessly but with this frame the connection/performance is iffy at best (even though it always shows good signal and that it is connected). When it does work, you can only run limited programs via FrameChannel or the device locks up. This is apparently not only my findings but common in some reviews elsewhere. It takes a loooong time to get the info via FrameChannel to work. When you make changes (like adding a channel) they don't happen quickly (which is ok), but sometimes it will give you the "broken frame" icon which means something is wrong. What is wrong is that the service itself (FrameChannel) is spotty and inconsistent and flawed. I was hoping to run stock ticker, weather and a bit of news while interspersing photos. Not happening at all. You get photos and ONE channel to work and that seems to be it. When I add anything else, the device goes blank or doesn't react to the change at all unless unplugged and reset. Then it only updates to the newest channel while ignoring what you had before.

Also, pictures uploaded online will go portrait on you and can not be adjusted unless you reload them or reorient them from your system before uploading. Not a big deal just mediocre web-app programming.

Pictures look good. The frame looks good. Menu is OK but glitchy and buttons don't always work (no big deal, this isn't a smart-phone or laptop so what would one expect?). Video playback is not so good (but have only quickly played with this feature) and only seems to want a particular size and bit-rate. But in all fairness, I have not tried to optimize for this at all. I spent most of my time trying to get FrameChannel to do something useful.

All in all, for the price, I don't recommend it since the service you are paying for is no good. Get a better, bigger frame for cheaper by someone else (Samsung or Nix perhaps) and don't pay for the internet service/wi-fi feature that is still an afterthought and doesn't work well at this point. Maybe another year and with development it will be worth it.

Best gift ever!
My darling daughter purchased this for me for my Birthday. It was easy to set up and the pix are fantastic. I love the feature of the email, as my son and his family are in Okinawa in the Marines and now they can send pix straight to my frame. What a great surprise when I see new pix of my grandkids!Every grandparent should have one or two or ...

Don't buy this frame if you want to email from your phone
This frame is a big disappointment because the majority of photos emailed to the frame arrive in the wrong orientation and there is NO current way to fix them. (We are sending photos taken with iPhones.) I talked with a Kodak representative and he told me to change the angle when taking the photos. Nothing works. I've tried both orientations and neither provides consistent results. I own another digital frame model where the orientation can be changed easily. I'm hoping a software upgrade will fix this Kodak Pulse bug soon. I expect more from Kodak.

UPDATE: Just chatted with Kodak (7/31/10). "Cherry Q" said there is no way to change the orientation on this model and she did not indicate that Kodak plans to fix the problem. Their solution was to load the photos from my phone to my computer, switch the orientation, and then add them to the frame. I already have a frame that I can load from my computer! This defeats the whole purpose for buying this frame. Do not buy this frame if you plan to send photos from your phone.

Fun digital frame
Gave this to my husband for his birthday. Saw it demonstrated on the Today show and he showed interest. It is very easy to set up, took only about 15 minutes. Our son and grandson live in another state so this has been great for him to send pictures of our grandson to us. The frame has it's own email address and pictures go directly to the frame and you either accept or delete the pictures. He has had a lot of fun with it. Great gift idea for the person who loves gadgets.

This product is amazing, very user friendly. The picture was very clear and e-mailing was simple, no need to sign in to an e-mail address, the picture goes directly to the frame and loads automatically. I use the timer on my pulse so that I can enjoy the pictures every evening.

Great solution for the remote Grandparent Problem...
We bought this for my mom just three weeks ago. She's a technophobe so I set it up and ran it for a few days at our home first. Then I just put in the settings for her wireless router (that I'd set up some years back) and my wife dropped it off. (she plugged it in and walked away)

The website management is perfect - and my siblings and I (and our spouses) email photos to it regularly. I also plugged in my facebook account and linked all her family members' facebook photos to the frame. Mom loves seeing new photos from the family, especially my brother who lives on the other side of the country. Recently we had a death in the family, so I linked her cousin's (who passed away) Facebook account to the frame and she was able to see all the photos that were tagged with his face - she cried seeing those photos appear, and was super thankful.

Overall, a six out of five stars from my perspective. I have to say historically I haven't been impressed with Kodak products, but if they do more products like this, I think they have a strong future. This is the first photo frame I've ever purchased and I'm getting ready to buy three more for other older family members.

BTW - we're a family of Mac and PC users. No problems for anybody. If you're using iPhoto to email photos - I recommend the "large" setting - small and medium are less than 800x600 pixels so they don't look so hot. Original size is more than needed... "Large" is perfect for export or emailing the photos to the frame.

I owned other frames similar to this...but to have every Facebook photo published is awesome! When I'm out of town my husband can see pictures before I get home! And...the frame turns itself on and off...I love this frame! :o)

Excellent picture quality
I gave a lot of study to digital frames and it was hard deciding just which one to buy. I finally decided that what was important to me was having really good picture quality. I wasn't disappointed. The pictures are very sharp and the colors are rich. For me, I wasn't interested in a frame that has all kinds of bells and whistles. I just wanted one that would play pictures off a flash drive, and show them in order or at random. And in those modes I didn't want any monkey business -- like repeating sections of pics over and over instead of truly progressing all the way through. As far as I can tell, it performs well on this. This frame does not have remote, and other fancy things, but that's good --- less things to go wrong. The frame is not particulary stylish; it's kind of plain. But I can live with that. So I will give it a 5 star rating because it answers my needs very well.

Its now been a week that I have received this frame and I use it daily. I will rate it as 4.5 Stars

Pros:

1) Easy to use - Just insert the Memory card and the frame start showing the pictures.
2) Picture Quality - Awesome, Fantastic
3) Color and Contrast are perfectly matched.
4) I have few pictures which are grainy and shaky, thats due to my camera. But when I view the same pictures in this frame it CORRECTS them to the extent of 80 to 90 percent. Now thats something truly fabulous and you will love it. When I view the same pictures in my Laptop they appear so blurry and grainy. But this Kodak frame, seems to correct them before displaying.
5) Transitions available between pictures are good.

Cons:

1) It does not remember the picture position where it was switched OFF. So, the next time you switch it ON, the pictures start displaying from the first again. Alhough, there is a button to display the pictures in RANDOM order which helps a bit.

A Good Simple Frame
I'm happy with this product. Some people complain about the lack of features, but to me that is a plus. You plug in your media and that's all there is to it. No confusing menus to go through, just a few buttons on the top to select the slideshow speed, etc.

I like the way this frame looks, but don't understand why they chose a white cord and power adapter for a black frame.

I wish the frame was a little bigger.

Picture quality is good, but not amazing.

I would definitely recommend this frame to someone like me who just wants a simple frame at a decent price to display their pictures. If you're looking for the absolute top of the heap with amazing picture quality and all the bells and whistles, this might not be for you.

Purchased for Mother's Day. Picture is bright and clear. Instructions were easy to follow for initial start-up. As mentioned in earlier reviews, the plug-and-play feature means that it didn't come with a cord to connect directly to the computer, you have to have an SD card or flash drive to transfer pictures to it. Apparently you can save the pictures directly to the frame but I didn't utilize that function as I had a spare memory card to give with the frame.

Beautiful display
I got this for my mom for Mother's Day. I loaded up about 600 photos she had on her computer onto a flash drive, put it in and turned it on. Worked perfectly and she loves it. One thing that would have been nice is a remote control, but the quality of the screen makes up for it.

Best High Quality Picture Frame as reviewed by "The Best Husband Around"
This is my first digital picture frame but will not be my last.

After searching and reviewing multiple digital frames on the market, it came down to the two camps.

It was the Kodak EasyShare Series vs the Sony DPF Products that made my final cut list.

Both had received high marks on ease of use, shuffle options, resolution quality, picture size, digital media compatibility and internal storage. NOTE: I find that wireless interconnect and internal memory storage had little to no bearing on my selection due to the fact that most of my photo transfers would to be handled by a variety SD and CF data cards.

In the end, I went with RESOLUTION QUALITY as the tie breaker.

I had to actually hit a retail store and do a side by side comparison.

It was there that SONY won hands down.

Price drove my final product selection.

I am very pleased with this purchase and would repeat it again.

My wife loves the frame and it's ease of use. She now has multiple media disks already loaded with her pictures. (PS: She also thinks that I AM THE BEST HUSBAND THERE IS)

I would recommend this product to anyone who asks.

80% of My MAC & Edited Pictures Won't Upload
What horrible piece of machinery. I spent 2 hours transferring years worth of photos to a memory stick only to find out that they won't display. It's just showing a squiggly line. Apparently, from other reviews, since I have a MAC and I edit most of my photos, that's a double whammy for disaster!!! Grrr I wish I read the reviews before I purchased this as on a whim for a mother's day present!

Great Value Digital Frame
Best value 12" I have seen. I returned 2 other brands and kept this one. Better picture. Good viewing from all angles. Seems to have a lot of features but very poor manual tells you about none of them so I don't know what I am missing. Their web site is even worse. Remote is about as weak as the manual - sometimes some buttons just don't work, sometimes they do. Setup is a trial and error effort.

I like the quality of the pictures and the price
I don't like the manual or the remote.

Good for the $
Product is nice and big. Plays slideshow, videos, and music. Only trouble so far is electical interference at nursing home where my grandmother lives.

Good picture - difficult menu - good memory
This product is all right. I bought it because it was the cheapest one at 12 inches -- and I was looking for a large size that could be shipped immediately. The image is good, clear, bright. There was one dead pixel -- not noticeable to my grandparents who were receiving it, but annoying to me. The internal memory is useful and I was pleased with that. The menu is confusing. I set it all up for my grandparents so that then they could just plug and play. That worked out well and the recipients were very happy with the gift! I wished that it had a feature to randomize the pictures. It plays them in the order of the files in the folder. There is a "randomize" feature but it only randomizes the transition effects (dissolve, wipe, etc.) It does remember which picture it was on when you turned it off -- an important feature.

Should have been no stars.
Nowhere in the literature does it say what file formats this photo frame supports. Consequently, you have to go through a lot of trial and error to load videos.

Great Digital frame but difficult remote
This is the 3rd Aluratek Digital photo frame that I got. The earlier ones are a 7" and a 10". I find all the 3 products are good. However the remote doesn't work very well on the 12". I keep on pressing the buttons but not much happens. The remote function is very erractic. The key sometimes gets clicked sometimes not. I am still trying to figure out. The remote on the 10" gave problems sometimes but the one on the 12" give more problems.

However at the price and the quality of the digital photo frame itself, I will give it a rating of 4.

Photos on this frame look amazing!
I got this frame for my husband for Father's Day and he loves all of the features. The most impressive feature is the high quality resolution of the photos. It is really breath taking! I would also recommend getting the 12 inch frame. The larger size is a must have!

Problems with file management...
If you use a computer to manage your picture files this frame works fine, but if you try to copy or delete files on the frame be prepared for some frustration. First of all the directions in the manual are not correct on how to select the COPY or DELETE functions. Once you have selected the files you want to move or delete, you need to press the MENU key on the remote to get to the commands (not ENTER as the manual says). When I tried to copy files from a memory card to the frame I struggled to get to the volume name of the frame's NAND memory...it took me several tries and I still don't know exactly what I did to make it work.

The frame picture quality is average, but not great...

For the price it is a good value for a 12" frame.

Faulty Slide Show Algorithm
The algorithm that controls the slide show function is faulty. Images do not sort properly. Renamed all images as suggested by manufacturer starting with "1000.jpg" and named all images sequentially. You can imagine what a pain that is when you have a large slide show... and then of course when you update the slide show, you would need to rename all the images again to have them display in the proper order. But even this "work around" did NOT resolve the problem. Still did NOT sort properly... and yes, the option to display "in order" WAS selected. Checked to ensure that there was no hidden file on the SD card that might contain some index that might be causing the abberation -- NONE present. This feature simply does NOT function properly. Wasted over $1K in billable hours trying to resolve the problem, since I REALLY needed to be able to display the slide show... Returned to Amazon. Will replace with a different digital frame from a different manufacturer. Cannot comment on other functions such as playing music or movies. Bought specifically to continuously display slide show. Physically seems well made. Remote works properly. Good image quality. Only gets one star from me because the function that I specifically purchased the frame for is faulty.

NIX X12A Picture Frame
I purchased this item from Amazon after reading the excellent reviews. Previously I had purchased the NIX X08A frame and found it to be a great product. I particularly liked the auto rotate feature (changing the orientation from landscape to portrait and the photos automatically changed orientation to match the new orientation of the frame. My wife and I decided we would like a larger frame so the smaller frame was placed in my office.

The problem with the NIX X12A frame is this: It does not have the auto rotate feature! This may not be a big deal for most users but almost 60% of our photos are in the portrait mode. The lack of this feature was not mentioned in the Amnazon description or the company's. While the photos display fine if the frame is in the landscape mode the size of the photo is no llarger than the photo when displayed in the smaller frame. Sadly we decided to return the frame to Amazon. We will wait until NIX adds this feature to the 12 inch frame or a well rated brand offers this feature.

Technical support was excellent via e-mail. Could serve as model for all the big companies that have forgotten what customer service is all about.

I should also mention that Amazon's return policy is great!

Great Buy
I bought this for my wife to replace a three year old, seven inch, Pandigital that recently died.

It's nice to purchase a product that exceeds your expectations. The Nix frame is packed with features and has a great display. The only draw back is the manual. It is lacking in fully explaining operations clearly. However, they respond very quickly to email, and answered the couple questions I had. Additionally, sometime in July their site is to be updated, with more in-depth directions. As the frame comes, I found that its tilt was at too great an angle for our viewing. The stand is adjustable by removing the six screws on it and extending the stand to make it more vertical. The color is brilliant. There are many transitions and the sound is suitable for the size of the unit. The only problem we have is trying to decide on viewing with full screen or using the split-screen format! A great buy at a reasonable price.
